It was an impossibility right from the get-go.

Common sense dictated that amongst the small circle of beings that could be referred to as Mystics, both Mortal and Immortal, the Beastn were heads and shoulders above them all with regards to physicality.

Their muscles were stronger than dozens of steel wires shed together, their skin was tougher than a rhino’s, and their stamina and endurance that was many tis above what even the strongest of humans could muster.

They were the epito of perfection when it ca to physical combat and it showed in almost every aspect of their living.

Compared to such physically oppressive beings, humans could be considered as nothing with even the strongest amongst them losing to those that would be terd children amongst the Beastn.

Yet, these were the sa people that Alex was being forced to fight with and it wasn’t just any kind of battle, it was hand-to-hand combat.

If it were any other form of combat, he might have had a little hope of success but exchanging fists with a Beast man?... That was the first step to going six feet under and Alex wasn’t exactly excited by the prospects.

"Perhaps we could find so forms of augntation to add to your body, that way you would be able to compete against the Beastman. I don’t believe there isn’t a Concoction capable of enhancing strength and endurance." Ana remarked.

Currently, she as well as Victoria and Alex were still seated in her library, deliberating on possible ans by which Alex could stand a chance against Andre’s eldest child.

Of course, Ana would have much liked it if things were left as they were due to her apprehension with the capital and their subsequent clash with the Emperor, but as things stood, she knew trying to stop Alex was a waste of ti.

Her only option now was to at least ensure they sohow get out of this alive.

"Won’t such things have drawbacks?" Alex calmly inquired.

"Well... they should but as long as we can mitigate the risk factor, it should be fine."

Still upset about the disrespect Alex had suffered, Victoria comnted from the side. "I am privy to one such Concoction and I don’t think it’s a right fit for you, Master."

"Why is that?"

"It does enhance strength but at the cost of losing intelligence, either temporarily or permanently, depending on the level of damage. The human body was never ant to imbibe such things so it usually cos with such kinds of drawbacks, like how a speed enhancent Concoction would cause slurring of speech or might even lead to a loss of bladder control."

Alex raised a brow, unwilling to imagine what Victoria explained.

He glanced at Ana who imdiately averted her gaze causing him to massage his temples.

For so reason, he felt like anything regarding the supernatural and the human body always had so sort of insane drawback, which made him wonder, were humans supposed to even dabble into this sort of thing in the first place?

Regardless, that was hardly the topic at hand and so, he casually tossed it aside as he focused on the more pressing issues.

"I can’t have my mind getting destroyed, even if there’s a chance of it being temporary." Alex calmly stated.

His mind was his greatest strength and he had only just begun his journey in Eventide.

The risk of losing what he trusted in the most was enough to make him consider other thods though for the ti being, those other thods seed quite elusive.

"Then what?... We could make plans but sotis, plans have no impact when the opponent is just that strong. Also, rember, you can’t depend on underhanded thods." Ana remarked.

Victoria pursed her lips as she pondered for a mont before inquiring. "Perhaps Master could try fully activating his werewolf bloodline. Though werewolves are incapable of competing strength-wise with Beastn, they have a much better chance of causing damage than a human would."

Alex remained silent as he couldn’t help but consider Victoria’s suggestion.

However, a quick thought enabled him to discover two problems.

How was he to unlock the bloodline power without becoming an Anomaly and becoming an Anomaly at such a stage would effectively bar him from being able to increase his strength in the future, leading to a permanent weakness.

The second problem was an imdiate one as Alex inquired of Ana. "Would Cryptids be able to enter the Archives?"

"Impossible. Just getting close would sap us of strength. Walking inside would be the sa as a death sentence."

Alex sighed. "Then I can’t awaken the werewolf bloodline. If it’s as you say, that ans, I and Nadia are the only ones that can get into the Catacomb, and considering Nadia has no experience with espionage, I’m the only person that can enter without problems."

Ana and Victoria exchanged looks before Ana turned to inquire of Alex. "Are you really going to do this?... I an, it’s really dangerous, Alex."

"I don’t exactly have a choice now, do I?... Rember Ana, recall the reason I started on this journey?"

Ah yes, she had forgotten that Alex was what she called a survivor of the cycle and now, another cycle was approaching.

Perhaps that explained his desire to keep pushing despite the clear dangers in his path.

"I understand." Ana muttered after a brief bout of silence.

Alex managed a weak smile as he remarked. "Don’t worry, I would also like not to die if I can help it. Anyway, let’s leave it be for now. Take a night to think about it and we can get back to deliberation tomorrow, how about that?"

"Mn, alright."

"As you wish, Master."

With that, Alex got to his feet and took his leave with Victoria glancing at Ana.

"What did Master an by the reason he started on this journey?"

It would seem the last bit of conversation between Ana and Alex had gripped her interest.

Alex subrged himself halfway through in his lake of mories as his eyes fell upon the stars above.

It was a calming sight and the waters washed away the tension he felt, leaving him at peace and in need of his family more than ever.

As he took a deep breath, he couldn’t help but wonder. "What would you guys be up to right now?"
