It was unexpected, Enrique had to admit, the fact that they had to face off against the entire forest.

Mutants they’d co across and those they’d never thought existed, charged at them without rcy, using every ans to whittle down their numbers.

Enrique couldn’t help but wonder; Was it possible to win under such circumstances?

The sight of his n, fellow brothers that fought with him, taking on creatures that would fell them if they were the least bit careless left him worried.

He could feel their pain, the rage they felt at what had befallen their comrades and they did little to hide it as magma heated the atmosphere with the earth itself sundering in response to their will.

Just then, a large monstrosity, one that looked like a cross between a grasshopper and a slug appeared, its disgusting appendages stretching to grab his people.

He was about to rush forward when a peculiar sight unfolded with Charlotte’s shadowy figure flitting past him, crossing the distance in a flash before swinging her blade in a vertical slash.

The mutant split into two halves, each one falling to the side, eliciting a wave of dust.

Then Charlotte glanced back, eting Enrique’s gaze.

"I do not appreciate your stagnant state despite the battle we are in. Focus." She chided him, causing him to furrow his brows.

Though distasteful, he had to admit that she was right.

Taking a deep breath, he made to move only to pause as a frightening aura erged from sowhere deep within the forest.

Not just him, but at that mont, it seed as though the entire battlefield entered a lull as no one moved.

Charlotte’s shadowy figure shook visibly as her gaze shifted to sowhere far away.

"Trouble is on the horizon." She muttered in a cryptic tone.

Enrique clenched his fist as the fear that the n he’d already seen dead would soon increase further, ate deep into his heart.

Just then, the earth began to tremble as though announcing the arrival of a great being, and perhaps, that was so as the entire forest responded to that great being.

The mutants that were fighting the Beastn suddenly turned and began to head toward the source of the tremors.

Seeing as his brothers were about to chase after them, Enrique ordered. "Fall back!"

Albeit unwilling, the Beastn stifled their anger and returned to regroup around Enrique.

"We can’t just let them go." One said as he transford back into his human form.

Enrique glared at him. "We have bigger problems to worry about and..."

Crack

Boom

Despite their balance being perfect, a few Beastn still found themselves destabilized by the explosion, and then... It happened.

At first, it seed as though a mountain was erging from the earth, one covered in greenery but it soon beca apparent that it was not.

It had a face, one that looked a lot like an old lady but twisted with a ssed up jawline and eyes that leaked black liquid.

Its mouth was ajar with a deep blackness within and its body was filled with fleshy, rocky, and even tree-like appendages, resulting in an appearance that couldn’t be described using any human terms.

Amorphous in shape and outrageous in appearance, It was a mishmash of everything wrong with the Wandering Forest standing tall with an eerie cry erging from sowhere deep within.

Gigantic as it was, the monstrosity moved with a stability that left the Beastn befuddled.

Each step it took shook the earth and left craters in its wake with the forest around it dying out rapidly.

"... Oh great Viracocha, just what abomination is this?" A BeastMan inquired in terror.

"Retreat!" Enrique cried out. "Retreat!"

Alex stood before the trio, watching as they writhed on the ground like worms, the incredible pain they were experiencing lost to him.

Taking a mont to calm himself, he got to work helping them.

He snapped his fingers and imdiately, rays of white light from the moon above settled upon their bodies, purifying Alejandro, Ana, and Victoria of the spores plaguing them.

Once done, the trio finally cald down with the mushrooms growing out of their body, wilting before finally falling off, leaving behind rather deep wounds that told of an unfortunate experience.

"Are you feeling better?" Alex inquired as the trio began to regain themselves.

Alejandro was the first to fully recover as he remarked. "Thank you, human, you saved my life."

"Would it kill you to say the na I gave you?"

"It is a false na, I can’t acknowledge it.", Alejandro replied while shaking his head.

Letting out a sigh, Alex shifted his attention to the ladies. "Feeling better?"

Ana nodded in response while Victoria inquired despite herself. "Are you alright, Master?"

"Yes, I am. The spores were deflected by Eternal Night so it didn’t have as much of an impact."

"That despicable tree man... And I had thought to give him a chance to explain himself." Alejandro cursed, annoyed that he’d not attacked Platadoris when he had the chance.

"No, it’s not Platadoris. I sensed a malevolent force welling up within Platadoris just before the spores took effect. It reminded of myself when I was corrupted."

"So the ’her’ Platadoris ntioned is most likely a second persona that has taken root in his body." Alex inferred with Ana nodding in response.

"Most likely."

"Regardless, I do not expect any of you to hold back once we return." Alejandro thought to ntion with no one arguing his feelings.

"I won’t. But we can’t just head back without a plan. Platadoris is a powerful being, even without divinity, I doubt any of us would be able to beat him easily and add on a corrupted version with no holds barred. We can’t head out without a plan."

"Fine then, but be quick. I cannot remain here much longer while my n are forced to face off against whatever is now the King of the Tree Spirits."

"I agree. So let’s begin."

Enrique watched them die, each man falling as they were either crushed by the monster’s foot or pierced by its leafy tendrils.

The shadows had dispersed and the Spirits destroyed in ways more grueso than he could have imagined.

What was he to do?

The monster had adapted to everything they had thrown at it and now... there was nothing more.

"Is this the end?" He muttered as he took a step back, the monstrosity shifting its face to gaze upon him.

Enrique’s heart palpitated strongly and at that mont, he was nothing but a target waiting to be picked off.

As a rocky hand covered in moss was raised over him and then brought down like a hamr of judgnt, Enrique couldn’t even fight back and so closed his eyes, accepting his fate without question.

However, his expected fate never ca and in its place, salvation arrived.
