The golden rays of the Lightbringer coming from above ca as a welco relief to a traumatic encounter in what could only be terd as the jaws of death.
Alex took long, deep breaths, his head spinning as he found it difficult to get his bearings.
When he did, however, it was just in ti to find several vines moving to ensnare him.
Pa
He reacted without thought, teleporting to what his gut told him would be a safe spot.
Thankfully, his gut was right.
"Master!" Victoria cried out joyfully as she rushed to Alex’s side.
Ana did the sa as well, her expression revealing her worry for Alex.
anwhile, an ear-piercing howl erupted from the remains of the nest with Alejandro the origin of it.
His voice laced with sadness, he charged at the troll that had tried to take the nest away, pumling it in a mad rage.
Alex ignored the BeastMan as he tried to calm his breathing but found it difficult to find a rhythm as his body trembled incessantly.
"Master, I and Ana may have discovered sothing. The air..."
"... Is laced with sothing that’s interfering with a lot of things, ranging from physical to ntal to even emotional, yes?"
"Indeed. Leave it to Master to guess the situation."
"What’s the assessnt?... Ana, can you deal with the attackers?" Alex asked, ignoring Victoria’s praise.
Ana shook her head. "I can try but I have a feeling it won’t end with just this group so continuous attacks...."
"...Would leave you exhausted," Alex muttered, barely able to keep his thoughts focused.
Annoyed by his subpar state, Alex snapped his fingers with black and white light erupting from his shadow, and then... nothing.
It ceased like sothing had interfered with the manifestation.
Alex’s expression crumpled. "Ana..."
"I can’t be sure but the mastermind behind this attack has most likely cordoned off our location and a large portion of the forest as his domain which could an that..."
"...I can’t unfurl my domain."
"Yes."
Alex slowly nodded. "Understood."
Then he snapped again.
This ti instead of Eternal Night enshrouding their location, he decided to focus on himself with the result being a black cloak with twinkling lights and a hood.
Almost imdiately, the atmosphere around Alex underwent a qualitative change with his deanor switching instantly.
He grew calm and his thoughts once again sharpened.
"Much better." He muttered with a sigh before returning to taking stock of their current situation.
"What do we know about what’s happening?" Alex inquired.
Ana was the first to respond. "The enemy is most likely a being possessing divinity related to nature."
"And?"
"Its vines are capable of adaptation. An attack used once can’t be used again and following that pattern..."
"The vines might have the capability to not only adapt to Abilities but also Powers as well."
"Mn."
"Ana, have the vines adapted to your Power?" Alex inquired worriedly.
Ana was the heavy hitter of his unit, he couldn’t afford to let her power be mastered by the enemy when they were turning out to be quite troubleso.
"I can’t be sure but I’ve been careful so..."
"Don’t use it again." Alex decidedly said. "I’ll handle the rest. You have to keep yourself on the off chance that we’d be fighting the mastermind behind this attack. Understood?"
"Mn." Ana nodded.
Satisfied at Ana’s agreeable nature, Alex shifted his attention to his ally who was currently overtaken by emotions.
Alejandro blindly fought with his n following in a similar vein.
It was almost as though they were all experiencing the sa emotions.
Alex didn’t think it farfetched considering how connected they were.
Regardless, it was ti to act.
First... pa
A black and white fla tongue appeared on his finger before he muttered. "Embers."
Whoosh
The air itself caught fire with the fire quickly spreading until everywhere within a 1 mile radius was alight.
Ana took a deep breath at the unrestrained display of strength while Victoria grinned like it was natural for her master to have such power.
True to their suspicion, the air was laced with a strange mystical microscopic pollen that caused a variety of effects but with Embers, the pollen was quickly erased, living behind pure air.
Perhaps due to the peculiar nature of the flas, apart from the trolls and vines, the mutants were all wiped out, leaving nothing but ashes in their wake.
Taking a deep breath in satisfaction, Alex shifted his attention to the vines moving to ensnare his party while also keeping an eye on the vines trying to take out as many Beastn as it could get its tendrils on.
At this point, the emotional state of Alejandro and his n was noticeably calr, giving further credence to the detrintal nature of the pollen once running amok in the atmosphere.
"Master..."
"Stay your hand, Victoria. I am quite angry right now." As Alex spoke, he made his move.
Pa
Several tendrils of black and white light rushed forward and grabbed the Beastn before pulling them towards Alex.
At the sa ti, Alex snapped twice in succession, once to summon Charlotte to deal with the vines that ca too close and the other to open a gateway to Evernight.
He tossed the Beastn inside, leaving only Alejandro who was a bit too heavy to move.
"Ana." Alex calmly called out with the latter quickly grasping his need.
She transford into her dragon form and rushed to take Alejandro off of the troll.
"Damn it, let go of , you lizard!... Let go of !" Alejandro roared angrily, the sadness from losing precious comrades evident on his visage.
Unfortunately, Ana wasn’t about to listen and she moved to join Alex and Victoria, both of whom had already utilized SkyWalker to ascend to a level just below the clouds.
"Master," Ana muttered softly with Alex calmly nodding as he looked down at the sprawling landscape.
Infested with crawling vines and an angry troll, Alex had already decided on a ans to deal with the situation while sending a ssage to the bastard responsible for their losses.
And so he began.
He snapped the first ti and then a second and even a third.
As vines rushed toward them, Alex was already ready with Charlotte wielding her sword to cut down all that ca close, her prowess as a Silver Knight captain revealed in full.
anwhile, three White Holes rotated silently before Alex.
Taking a deep breath, he intoned softly. "Fall."
The White Holes dropped, moving almost instantly toward the surface before penetrating the earth and then...
Boom
There was light.
