Damian tried to act upon realizing that sothing was wrong but it was too late.

Pa

With an unfamiliar snap ca a change in his environnt.

A night sky with several twinkling white lights unfurled before his eyes, leaving him both flustered and awed.

He blinked a few tis, unsure of what to make of the scenery before him.

’This... what is this?’ He muttered inwardly as a deep sense of dread crept up his spine.

Then, he sensed sothing causing him to look ahead only for a terrifying Authority to fall upon him.

Albeit without tangible force, it seed to contain a powerful will, so much so that Damian was left flustered to the point of falling to his knees.

"How... what did you do?" Damian stuttered as he spoke, his gaze trained on Alex who was standing beside Nadia.

anwhile, the Silver Knights were shocked upon realizing that instead of Alex, it was Charlotte that they had ended up pinning down.

Charlotte had no ti to be offended as her eyes flickered, shock and amusent plastered on her visage.

Ignoring the floundering Damian in the background, she turned to et Alex’s calm gaze.

"When?" That was all she could manage before waiting for a response.

Alex maintained an aloof stance as he casually replied. "Since the first snap."

"... Unbelievable," Charlotte muttered.

With a single arm gesture, her subordinates quickly recovered their composure as they turned to Alex, brandishing their weapons as they prepared to strike within a mont’s notice.

Charlotte shifted her attention to Nadia and after noting her stance, remarked. "I was right. You are a genius. Even if you had the Dark Lord’s help, the fact that you were able to falsify the true reality of this situation is truly remarkable. I’m beyond impressed."

"..." Nadia remained silent, instead responding with a disdainful gaze.

Of course, inwardly she was barely able to remain conscious.

She had been converging as much of her Pneuma as she could since she returned to Alex’s side all for this mont.

After what happened, Nadia wanted to ensure she’d never be in a situation where Alex would be forced to abandon her.

This was the first step.

anwhile, Alex glared at the kneeling Damian. "Tell what I want to know."

"Heh, I didn’t expect this but just because you escaped once doesn’t an you’d escape a second ti, right?" Damian said as he gritted his teeth and utilizing the Crimson Heart, rose back to his feet.

His aura oozed bloodlust causing Alex to frown.

"Will you not back down?"

"Why should I when you are the one on the losing end?"

"... You are stubborn." Alex was slightly livid at Damian’s obstinacy.

Just then, he sensed sothing causing him to snap his fingers almost instantly.

The next mont, he disappeared alongside Nadia and his previous location was pierced through by three spears at a ti.

The duo appeared elsewhere and in annoyance, Alex held nothing back.

He glared at the three Knights that attacked and imdiately, gut-wrenching screams were heard from them.

Before Charlotte could say anything, the trio had their heads explode like fireworks with their blood splattering everywhere before being quickly absorbed by the darkness.

Both Charlotte and Damian were left speechless as they stared in utter disbelief at the headless corpses of what was supposed to be the strongest fighting division of Vampire Kind.

"Monster..." Damian muttered fearfully as he recalled Crow Mask’s words to him.

’He is not your match.’

He found it hard to breathe as his heart palpitated strongly.

anwhile, Charlotte pursed her lips as her gaze alternated between her dead subordinates and Alex.

After what seed like forever but was rely over a minute, Charlotte retracted her gaze before focusing entirely on Alex.

A smile was still etched on her face but it was easy to tell that it did not reach her eyes.

"I warned you, hadn’t I?" Alex calmly intoned. "You forced and now, blood will flow."

Charlotte nodded. "Indeed. I’m glad you stayed true to your word."

"Do not do what you would regret."

"... If I regret anything, it’s that I didn’t kill that bitch when I had the chance." Charlotte coldly replied before gripping the hilt of her sword.

Alex’s expression shifted as he tried to snap only to discover that Charlotte had already closed the distance between them.

Clicking his tongue, he grabbed Nadia with one hand and pulled her aside while using his other hand to grab Charlotte’s blade.

Holding it tightly, he barely stopped the Silver Knight Captain from beheading Nadia.

Charlotte glared at Alex with an icy gaze as she remarked. "Do not expect to leave here alive."

"..." Alex frowned as he watched Charlotte retrieve her blade before retreating a few steps.

The thought to retreat crossed Alex’s mind, what with Nadia in a bad state and Charlotte giving off an eerie vibe, but his target was right where he wanted him.

He didn’t want to kill Damian imdiately since he still needed information about the Crow Mask but with Charlotte’s interference, it was either he went through her or she went through him.

One way or the other, the situation was not looking good for Alex.

Clicking his tongue, Alex resolved to kill Charlotte first as he unleashed the maddening effects of Eternal Night.

Charlotte’s expression distorted but no sounds escaped her lips, revealing just how much of a difference in strength there was between herself and her subordinates.

As her eyes turned bloodshot and blood leaked from her ears, nose, and mouth, Charlotte suddenly changed how she was wielding her sword and without hesitation, pierced through her abdon with the blade, leaving Alex confused by the sight.

"This..." However, he barely had the chance to ponder her intentions when he sensed sothing strange.

It almost felt like... soone else had established a connection with Evernight.

For the second ti today, Alex was surprised... no, he was shocked as he stared at Charlotte who remained unmoving after stabbing herself.

Her head bowed, her body shuddered a few tis before she suddenly lifted her head to reveal an ecstatic expression on her face.

"So this is it?... This is the power of the Dark Lord?... Amazing." As she spoke, her aura shifted until it was almost similar to Alex’s own.

Staring at the unusual sight, Alex had a feeling.

His troubles had only just begun.
