Chapter 555: 555 The child is gone (2)_1
The main difference, though, was that he couldn’t just drag her onto the bed and teach her a hard lesson without any explanation, as he used to do.
He could only endure.
Eleven didn’t ntion his engagent to Shang Muxue, acting as if she knew nothing.
Their relationship had changed, but one thing remained the sa: she wouldn’t ask unnecessary questions.
However, if Eleven didn’t bring it up, Gu Liancheng didn’t plan to explain either.
It was a boring topic that would only alter the atmosphere in the room if ntioned.
Eleven did not understand the financial news, she mumbled: "Did you know that Grandpa Jiu started watching financial news last year? I still don’t understand all the professional jargon, but he seems to enjoy it thoroughly. I always thought he’d be fine if he followed you, and you insensitively had him start from scratch, but I didn’t teach him... Is it innate?"
She had always thought it would be fine if the children were safe and sound. Whether they would be successful in the future would be up to their own fate. But everything seed predestined. It’s likely that Jiujiu would inevitably beco sothing she had never anticipated.
Eleven casually rambled on: "That’s why sotis you just have to believe in fate. Who would have guessed that I would have your child? We are from two separate worlds, the overlap is a one-in-a-million chance—"
She was peeling an apple for him. When she didn’t hear him respond, she turned to look. He was propped against the bed with his eyes closed, likely asleep. Consequently, she didn’t continue.
Once upon a ti, any single choice she made differently would have branched them off into different paths, and they would never intersect.
She labeled this result as fate.
Looking at Gu Liancheng with his brows furrowed, Eleven shook her head.
Even in his sleep, he was still frowning.
Eleven leaned over, gently smoothed the furrow between his eyebrows. Only then was she satisfied. He looked much better without frowning. "Haven’t all the problems been solved? And in the end, you got the woman you wanted. What are you worrying about?"
As Wen Qianxi said, she had given him an injection to lower his fever, but since she did not dare to give him the full dose, it had not had the deserved effect. She touched his forehead; it was still hot.
If his fever did not subside tonight, regardless of the circumstances, he would have to be sent to the hospital. It wouldn’t be good if he died from fever at ho.
Wen Qianxi called her, she walked out to answer, not wanting to disturb his sleep.
"Has he gotten any better?"
"It doesn’t look like it. A shot in the butt would have been better."
"Probably still feels strange."
Eleven didn’t reply.
If she did not know about that thing, she might have said there was nothing strange about it. But now that she knew, she chose silence.
Wen Qianxi didn’t say anything else, just worried if Eleven could handle taking care of this big man alone. Eleven politely refused her help. She would not do anything inappropriate.
She figured if she called Wen Qianxi over, he would be upset but wouldn’t know how to voice his complaints. Hence, it’s better to avoid the situation altogether, right?
While Gu Liancheng was resting, Eleven didn’t have anything else to do. So she went to his study to find a book to read for the day.
While browsing the bookshelf, she wondered if there might be a copy of the book she ca across in the hospital.
She looked through carefully, but didn’t find anything. Was she overthinking?
The housekeeper had finished preparing lunch and ca up to call her downstairs. Eleven responded, just as she was finishing a book. She put it back in its original spot. As she tried to nudge it in further to make it look neater, she felt sothing seem to click into place.
As she was perplexed, a secret compartnt slowly opened on her left among the two rows of bookshelves.
