Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Won’t This Really Hurt Her?_1

"So it’s Eleven. No wonder Little North looked so worried. How did your hand get injured like this?"

Jin Xiangbei indeed appeared anxious, it wasn’t lost on Gu Liancheng.

But she was his woman, he didn’t need any other man to be worried about her!

This really irked him.

"I fell..."

Eleven bit her other hand in pain.

"You two should step outside first." Wen Qianxi spoke with her back turned to them.

"Why?" Both n asked in unison, seemingly unwilling to leave.

"I need to check her pulse. With you two here, who knows if Eleven’s elevated heart rate is due to nerves caused by your presence?"

Gu Liancheng questioned, "Why check her pulse for a hand injury?"

Without turning her head, Wen Qianxi responded, "I’m the doctor here. Do as I say."

"CEO Jin can leave. I’ll stay."

Before CEO Jin could ask why he had to leave, Wen Qianxi impartially said, "Both of you, out."

...

The n left the room, leaving Eleven and Wen Qianxi alone. Wen Qianxi softened considerably. She didn’t really check Eleven’s pulse but busied herself with dressing Eleven’s wounds, "I just wanted to chat with you, it was inconvenient with the two of them here."

"Yeah," Eleven nodded, "Sister Wen Qian, didn’t you go to the United States? When did you co back?"

"It’s been a while. Xiangnan told

that he ran into you. I was aning to arrange a catch-up but didn’t get the chance, didn’t expect to run into you here."

"It’s a pleasant surprise for

too."

"...Alright, the wound isn’t deep. Try to keep it dry for the next few days to prevent infection," Wen Qianxi spoke while cleaning up, then looked at Eleven and smiled, "You didn’t co here with Gu Liancheng, did you?"

CEO Jin wouldn’t be so careless as to bring Yao Ruoshui here, and involve Eleven too.

Recalling Gu Liancheng’s anxious behaviour earlier, she made a guess.

"Yeah."

"Are you two... together now? You do know he’s a married man, right?"

Eleven lowered her head and gave a small smile, declining to answer.

She wouldn’t even disclose to a past acquaintance, if it’s sothing she shouldn’t be sharing.

"Never mind... but, Eleven, don’t get too deeply involved. It will only hurt you."

"I know."

Wen Qianxi exited the room. For so reason, Gu Liancheng didn’t imdiately follow suit. Also, Jin Xiangbei didn’t seem to care as he brushed past Wen Qianxi to enter the room.

Wen Qianxi glanced back, then turned to Gu Liancheng, "How are you holding up?"

"Great."

Despite the slight tremble in his gaze, she could tell he genuinely ant it. He didn’t say he was okay, fine, or alright, instead, he said he was "great."

"I guess so, considering you’ve been popping up in the news frequently. Seems like your days have been rather fulfilling."

Gu Liancheng humd softly. His tone suggested he had nothing more to add.

"As for Eleven... She’s such an innocent girl. Are you sure about this? Are you sure you won’t end up hurting her in the process?"

"What do you an by ’this?’" He looked at her, puzzled.

"You are a married man."

"Indeed, I am married."

Suddenly, Eleven erged from the room, with Jin Xiangbei following close behind. Unsure of what transpired inside, Eleven hurriedly left the room.

She went straight to Gu Liancheng’s side and looped her arm through his.

In this unfamiliar place, she felt secure as long as she was by his side.

Her eyes flicked up to Gu Liancheng, her eyelashes fluttering lightly, "Let’s go."

"Where to?"

What left Jin Xiangbei and Wen Qianxi sowhat startled was Gu Liancheng’s gentleness in contrast to his previous tone. He gently brushed her forehead and swept her bangs to the side.

"What’s the rush when we still haven’t settled the bills here?"
