Chapter 1001: 1001 Sea of Lycoris Heather (25)
In that instant, she didn’t know what was truly on her mind.
She thought she would be afraid, panicking, or perhaps extrely excited to see him again, but none of that happened, her heart was as still as stagnant water—it was her state of being.
While held in Li Sinian’s embrace, her mind went blank, without a single thought.
After a lengthy silence, two trails of tears stread down Heather’s face, "I’m sorry..."
She didn’t even know which wrongdoing of hers she was apologizing for.
It was only when Lake suddenly called out that she realized Li Sinian had passed out while holding her.
...
After receiving ergency treatnt for his severe injuries, Li Sinian flew back to the xico headquarters on a charter flight overnight.
This was Heather’s first ti accompanying him back to the headquarters.
Greeting their arrival at the headquarters were the leading Right Envoy, and the faction of the newly appointed Left Envoy.
Right Envoy Lucia was soone Heather had t before; she had always been the most opposed to them, even trying to have Heather assassinated on several occasions. The reason Li Sinian didn’t kill her was because of Lucia’s unwavering loyalty to him; this internal strife, similar to the Left Envoy’s betrayal, showed that Lucia would faithfully handle things for him. With her in control at the headquarters, he could rest easy.
Now Heather finally understood why Lucia hated and opposed her.
Her sister Helena must have been sent to infiltrate Li Sinian’s side as well. Although unaware of what had transpired, her sister might have committed so act of betrayal against them, which was why they hated her so much.
She and her sister looked so much alike that from the start, probably no one really believed in her innocence.
Upon seeing the situation, Lucia ordered people to rush Li Sinian to the hospital for treatnt, but Heather was stopped outside, at gunpoint by Lucia, with the safety off, ready to pull the trigger: "I knew you were no good!"
Heather did not hide, nor was she afraid; she knew that one day, she would inevitably face a situation like this.
But she had always thought that the person holding a gun to her head should have been Li Sinian.
Thinking of this, she smiled helplessly.
"Still smiling? Do you think if I let you off this ti, you could escape? To have caused our leader to end up like this, even if I let you go, it doesn’t an others will spare you!"
Lake grabbed the gun in Lucia’s hand, speaking seriously, "Lucia, you can’t touch her."
"You’re still defending her! It’s because of this damned mole that the leader almost got killed by Night Hawk!"
"We’ve always been aware of her identity. Let’s wait until the leader wakes up to discuss this matter; he will deal with it himself."
Lake had also seen Helena.
The first ti he t Heather in the elevator, he hadn’t yet seen her face; his sole focus was on the safety of Li Sinian. When he finally saw her clearly later, he understood right away why the leader had saved her.
The subsequent events made him more cautious; he dared not let Heather co to any harm because he knew that this woman would be the insurmountable ordeal of the leader’s life, perhaps a blessing, or perhaps a curse.
"We can’t just let her off like that! Who would agree?!"
With Lucia leading so many mbers there, it was impossible for Lake to act forcefully—unable to move forward or retreat.
Her subordinates raised their guns in protest.
"Lake, don’t worry, I’m not going to take her life, but we can’t let her off so easily. Take her into custody!"
Lake had no choice. Lucia had long been in charge of the headquarters, and most people there followed the Left and Right Envoys; he didn’t have much say and could only whisper to Heather, "Please hold on, everything will be alright when Mr. wakes up."
