"Impossible. If it was a clone, I would’ve sensed it?"

Thud!

Jamie landed in front of her after jumping down from the rooftop.

Sandra imdiately shifted into a combat stance, extending the sharp knife in her hand toward him.

"Ahm, Jamie... how am I supposed to get down from here?"

Bray called from above.

"Just jump down."

"Do you want to die or sothing? I don’t have magic like you."

Bray continued nervously. He did have a valid point—judging from the height of the roofs, one jump would completely disassemble his body, breaking bones apart in ways he wouldn’t even recognize afterward.

Jamie sent one of his clones up. The clone lifted Bray onto its back and floated down to the ground with him.

"You look good without that weird bottle on your back."

Jamie spoke calmly, while Sandra remained perfectly still with her guard raised.

He was telling the truth, though. Without the bottle strapped to her, she looked completely different—almost like one of those flawless elf models printed on the glass bottles of expensive lotions their race produced.

"So what was your plan after taking down Bray?"

"What makes you think it’s a plan?"

"Because you’re a Grid Lion. If there’s one thing I know about your clan, it’s that you guys don’t act foolishly."

Sandra hesitated before giving any answer. Instead, she sealed her mouth shut like a vault protecting the governnt’s deadliest secret.

Bray stood frozen beside them.

He couldn’t believe what he was seeing—an elf in real life. She looked exactly like how movies and manga depicted them: long, narrow, pointed ears, smooth glowing skin that seed to shine even at night. You could easily mistake her for an angel...

If only she hadn’t just tried to stab him to death.

The atmosphere between the three of them grew electric.

Sandra waited patiently for whatever would happen next, because what Jamie chose to say would determine how this entire encounter ended.

"Since you helped in Midworld once... you can go. Just this once."

Jamie turned around and began walking away slowly.

"Really, Jamie? We’re letting her go after she tried to kill ?"

Bray protested.

"I’m not leaving until I bring your head with ."

Sandra pushed back instead of accepting the opportunity to escape. She knew Jamie was far stronger than her. The difference in power was obvious from the magic their bodies released every second.

Jamie stopped mid-step.

He slowly turned his head back toward her, his eyes now looking at Sandra the way one looks at an enemy.

He paused for a mont, as if weighing sothing in his mind.

Then he made his decision.

"Then I’m taking you with ."

Before Sandra could react, Jamie had already appeared behind her. The edge of his hand struck her neck in a clean chop.

Her body instantly went limp.

She collapsed unconscious before she could even process what had happened—though Jamie caught her before she hit the ground.

The sight looked incredibly suspicious.

Imagine a random citizen stepping outside their house only to see two grown n staring at each other while one of them held an unconscious long-eared woman in his arms.

Fortunately, in this city, strange coincidences like that weren’t rare enough to cause panic.

"So what do we do now?"

Bray asked.

"You go find the nuclear material and the uranium. Just call the number I gave you when you do."

Bray smiled brightly.

He felt sothing stirring deep inside his soul—the kind of excitent he had never experienced before.

Suddenly his life had taken a sharp turn... and beco far more interesting.

Jamie adjusted Sandra over his shoulder when Bray spoke again.

"Thank you for telling about what happened. I know you haven’t told everything... but I trust you."

He admitted that quietly before hurrying down the narrow corridor.

He still had to return and finish the fundraiser.

After all, a man had to work.

Despite everything that had just happened, he was still the governor—and many people’s lives depended on him.

.....

Morning

Sandra’s eyes slowly opened.

Her vision was blurry at first, but gradually everything ca into focus.

She wasn’t lying in a bed.

She wasn’t locked in a dark room.

She wasn’t tied up in so hidden prison like one would expect after being captured.

Instead...

She was sitting inside an ice-cream shop.

Where the fuck am I—

The thought stopped halfway.

Elves didn’t really know anything about ice cream, so it made sense that she had no idea what kind of place she had woken up in.

She turned her head and observed her surroundings.

Children sat with their parents. Families filled colorful chairs, happily eating different flavors of ice cream.

None of it interested her much.

But then she noticed sothing important.

Jamie wasn’t anywhere inside the shop.

Her eyes widened in realization.

She had never accounted for Jamie kidnapping her.

Fighting her—yes, it was in her calculations.

If she died that way, it would be honorable. A warrior falling in battle.

But this?

This was just strange... and deeply unsettling.

Still, it created an opportunity.

This was her chance to escape and plan the next stage.

Sandra stood up.

She was wearing skinny jeans and a shirt.

She couldn’t rember when those had been put on her. The last thing she rembered wearing was a set of dirty, rugged clothes.

But that was the least of her concerns.

She moved quickly toward the wide glass door.

Just as she was about to step outside—

Zwwing!!

A powerful surge of magic stopped her instantly.

At first she thought it was in her head.

But after several attempts, she realized the truth.

A barrier surrounded the entire entrance.

"It’s cool, right?"

Jamie’s voice ca from behind her.

He was sitting casually in a chair that definitely hadn’t been there the first ti she looked around. Only God knew when—or how—he had taken that seat.

Huh...

Sandra exhaled slowly.

"What do you want with ?"

"Simple. I want you to understand that there’s more to this story than your kind knows."

Sandra walked back and sat across from him, her posture tense as she began speaking Jamie.

"Your kind kills and attacks us. There’s no need for discussion."

"But we didn’t start that attack. You did."

"Fuck you. You don’t even know what you’re talking about. My entire kind was wiped out by a demon, and you expect to stand here and listen to your bullshit? Find soone else stupid enough to believe that."

"A single elderly elf is estimated to kill five hundred demons in his lifeti. Stop playing the victim."

Jamie shut him down.

Sandra fell silent.

Because what Jamie had just said... was the brutal truth.

When her village had still been full of life, an adult male elf who killed fewer than three hundred demons in his lifeti was considered weak. Such n couldn’t even marry—they were labeled worthless trash by their own people.

"Let’s be clear," Jamie continued.

"My fight is with the goddess and the humans—not the elves. That’s what I want you to see. Then you can decide for yourselves whether you want us to be enemies... or allies."

"That’s why you kidnapped ," Sandra said quietly. "It was your plan all along."

"Yes."

Jamie smiled faintly.

"And you fell right into my trap."

"Fuck you."

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Jamie’s phone began vibrating.

The screen showed a contact na: Kasa.

He answered imdiately.

"Yes."

"Bray has brought the required resources. We want to start fixing the machine ."

"Alright. I’ll be there."

The call ended.

Jamie lifted his head and t Sandra’s eyes.

"This is your chance to see who demons really are."
