Just when everyone thought Pei Shu’er was going to get angry, she let out a light laugh.

"I think no one knows better than I do how critical Father’s situation was before. You concubines might have your own plans and don’t want to treat Father, so you co to stop ."

"The steward was right beside us, and he witnessed how dangerous Father’s condition was. By saying this now, you’re clearly trying to confuse the truth."

Aunt Liu imdiately denied it; she couldn’t afford to have such a heavy bla placed on her.

"How could that be? I like the Master so much, how could I let him die?"

Pei Shu’er said, "But the actions you’ve taken certainly suggest otherwise."

Aunt Liu beca sowhat agitated, while Aunt Zhao imdiately lowered her head, looking weak and about to cry.

But before she could start crying, Pei Shu’er spoke up.

"Step aside, a good dog doesn’t block the way. I’m not like you, idling around all day, bickering and being jealous. I have many things to do."

Aunt Liu put her hands on her hips and said angrily, "Who are you insulting?"

Pei Shu’er couldn’t be bothered to argue with her and moved sideways to pass her.

But Aunt Liu was relentless, circled around, and blocked Pei Shu’er again.

Pei Shu’er was speechless; no wonder Pei Yu didn’t pay much attention to Aunt Liu. With this kind of stubbornness, once hooked, it’s hard to shake off.

Aunt Liu spoke righteously, "Pei Shu’er, I advise you to apologize to the concubines, and today’s matter will be over."

Pei Shu’er almost laughed, "What if I don’t?"

Pei Lingling said, "Then I’ll go tell Father and let him discipline you properly."

Pei Shu’er was about to say Pei Yu wouldn’t, but then she thought of his ways and was really uncertain.

Perhaps Pei Yu would beco even more biased towards Aunt Liu.

After all, compared to anyone in the Pei Mansion, Pei Shu’er was irrelevant.

Pei Shu’er said nothing and imdiately used Qinggong to leap directly over Aunt Liu.

Lingering behind the wall eavesdropping, Pei Lingling appeared in front of them too.

This action made Aunt Liu even angrier.

Aunt Liu shouted sharply, "Guards!"

Several guards ca over, and everyone saw Pei Shu’er looking displeased as she glanced at Aunt Liu.

Aunt Liu had a face full of mockery.

"Pei Shu’er, if you apologize now, I’ll let you go."

This wasn’t an apology; it was clearly a well-prepared attempt to embarrass Pei Shu’er.

Pei Shu’er almost laughed, "Did you forget? I am a Princess Consort."

At these words, Aunt Liu choked and her gaze instinctively shifted to Pei Lingling.

Pei Lingling sighed, "Sister, no matter what, Aunt Liu is still your elder. It was originally your fault, and now you’re using authority to oppress others?"

Pei Shu’er found it amusing, seeing Pei Lingling’s righteous appearance blocking her way.

If she reasoned with Aunt Liu, it would be like a scholar encountering a soldier.

If she didn’t reason with Aunt Liu, it would be using power to bully.

Pei Shu’er had a cold smile on her face and was about to retaliate.

Just then, the door to Pei Yu’s room opened.

Pei Yu, covering his mouth with a handkerchief as he coughed, walked towards them.

Seeing the confrontation between Pei Shu’er and Aunt Liu, he coldly asked, "What’s going on?"

Aunt Zhao exaggeratedly narrated the incident to Pei Yu, with a pitiful look on her face, as if she had suffered a great injustice.

Pei Yu’s face showed anger.

But seeing Pei Shu’er standing coldly to the side, with half-closed eyes, as if there was no expectation from him at all.

Pei Yu’s heart ached, at this mont, he couldn’t help but reflect deeply.

Was he really so bad to the main house? So much so that the main house mbers, from children to adults, were not close to him?

Moreover, they didn’t even wish to explain the reason to him.

Aunt Liu’s words were exaggerated, and he didn’t fully believe them.

He looked at Pei Shu’er.

"Pei Shu’er, do you have anything to say?"

Pei Shu’er shrugged, "You might not believe what I say, if you want to know, maybe you should ask the steward what happened at the ti."

The steward, receiving a look from Aunt Liu, looked a bit troubled.

How should he answer?

If he told the truth, he would offend Aunt Liu, and he’d still have to live in the Pei Mansion.

If he lied, Pei Shu’er, being a Princess Consort, was no pushover.

Besides, Pei Shu’er practically saved their lives.

His internal struggle lasted only a mont; the steward gritted his teeth, unwilling to betray his conscience.

"Reporting to Master, the fact is, it was indeed the concubine’s side that was wrong. The situation was truly critical at the ti, you weren’t even breathing. If the young lady hadn’t done what she did, I’m afraid..."

Pei Yu was taken aback; no one had told him this all these days.

Who would have thought Pei Shu’er had done so much for him, yet hadn’t bragged or complained?

He looked at Pei Shu’er, "Shu’er, co here."

Pei Shu’er rolled her eyes ntally but respectfully walked over.

"What does Father wish to say?"

Pei Yu sighed, for the first ti carefully observing the legitimate daughter of the Pei Mansion.

Composed, graceful, standing tall, and her emotions were perfectly managed.

Just by looking at her, it was evident she had changed and matured significantly.

He sighed once more.

"Pei Shu’er, today I will stand up for you as your father."

Pei Shu’er subtly raised her eyebrows, but outwardly remained stoic.

"If Father thinks I saved your life and wants to repay the favor by taking action against your beloved concubine, there’s no need."

Pei Yu understood that Pei Shu’er was stubborn; if he didn’t genuinely acknowledge her actions, she wouldn’t appreciate his support.

He had never realized his legitimate daughter was so intriguing.

Pei Yu chuckled softly, "I think Shu’er is right."

At this mont, the concubines’ expressions changed. Pei Lingling’s confident smile froze on her face.

The concubines quickly gathered around Pei Yu, starting to cry pitifully.

Instinctively, Pei Yu stepped back, a flash of disdain crossing his face.

Pei Shu’er remained indifferent, then heard Pei Yu point at her.

"You all, go apologize to Pei Shu’er. If it weren’t for her martial arts, who knows how you would have bullied her."

Pei Shu’er said nothing.

The concubines almost felt they’d heard wrong, only realizing after seeing Pei Yu’s expression that he genuinely intended to back Pei Shu’er.

Several concubines walked up to Pei Shu’er, made insincere apologies with tact.

"Shu’er, don’t take it to heart, we only acted strangely because your actions were peculiar. We were trying to protect the Master."

"Shu’er, this aunt apologizes to you. Since our injuries have just healed, don’t kick us to the point where we can’t get up again."

As more spoke, it appeared to be an apology, but they were still bla-shifting.
