Pei Shu’er was chard by Pei Jingyi’s adorable appearance, coupled with the original body’s fondness for Pei Jingyi, Pei Shu’er picked her up.

"Really? Doesn’t Jingyi look nice now?"

Pei Jingyi’s eyes lit up, then she lowered her head again.

"I’m not good-looking at all; the older sisters always say I’m an ugly duckling, and no one wants to play with ."

Pei Shu’er felt a pang in her heart, knowing children naturally love having companions.

In the Pei Mansion, since Shen Wanqing wasn’t favored, the other children followed suit and dismissed her accordingly.

Moreover, being the legitimate daughter, Pei Jingyi posed a threat to the illegitimate sons and daughters, making everyone unwilling to engage with her.

Even more extre was Xiang Hui, who unified the stance of the concubines to suppress the main family, putting up a united front despite their rivalries.

Even though her clothes were decent, they paled when compared to those of the illegitimate daughters.

With nothing else to do, Pei Shu’er spoke with a smile.

"How about this, Jingyi: Big Sister will take you to pick out so fabric, and then Big Sister will make you a dress, okay?"

Pei Jingyi was surprised and shook her head repeatedly.

"Big Sister, that’s not what I ant."

Pei Shu’er lightly pinched Pei Jingyi’s cheek.

"It’s Big Sister who wants to make it for Jingyi."

Pei Shu’er had soone bring over so suitable double-sided brocade fabrics for children and helped Pei Jingyi choose several colors.

Staring at the beautiful fabrics, Pei Jingyi was stunned, forgetting to blink for a long ti.

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Co here, let Big Sister take your asurents."

Pei Jingyi obediently ran over, blinking her eyes as she looked at Pei Shu’er.

As Pei Shu’er asured Pei Jingyi, she gave instructions to the maid.

"Go and get so food that children love to eat from the kitchen."

The maid hurried off to carry out the orders.

Blinking her eyes at Pei Shu’er, Pei Jingyi initially feared this sister, having heard from her brothers that Big Sister was fierce.

But seeing her now, she felt Big Sister was gentle and kind.

Pei Shu’er drew the design for Pei Jingyi and began sewing the clothes.

She sewed quickly; previously, to suture wounds neatly, her modern-day mom had her learn embroidery.

The family were perfectionists, demanding excellence in everything.

After finishing a dress, Pei Jingyi’s eyes sparkled with delight.

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Co over and try it on; if it doesn’t fit, Big Sister will alter it for you."

Pei Jingyi tried it on, knowing it looked beautiful but unsure how it looked on her.

Pei Shu’er led her to the mirror, and Pei Jingyi marveled at the clear reflection of herself.

"Big Sister, this mirror is so clear."

Pei Shu’er laughed, "Next ti you return, I’ll give you a couple to take back."

Pei Jingyi nodded and twirled in front of the mirror, eyes filled with joy.

"Big Sister, this dress is so beautiful."

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Co over, let Big Sister change your hairstyle; from now on, let them style it like this."

Pei Jingyi nodded and stood obediently by Pei Shu’er, who styled her hair differently.

Pei Jingyi no longer looked like a little maid, but rather, more like a young lady of high status.

Happily, Pei Jingyi jumped into Pei Shu’er’s arms.

"Thank you, Big Sister."

Then she jumped down and spun several tis in front of the mirror.

While sewing, Pei Shu’er glanced at Pei Jingyi now and then, feeling happy as she saw her joy.

In one afternoon, Pei Shu’er made four outfits for Pei Jingyi, all in styles that suited her perfectly.

For dinner, Shen Wanqing sought out Pei Shu’er, and upon seeing Pei Jingyi, Shen Wanqing was montarily taken aback.

"Our Jingyi looks really beautiful."

After being praised, Pei Jingyi, still a child, covered her mouth and laughed.

After dinner, Shen Wanqing returned to the separate courtyard arranged for her.

Pei Qingheng, alone in the Pei family, found the days difficult to bear and ca over after just a day.

And so the whole family lived in the separate courtyard, rarely disturbing Pei Shu’er except during als.

Pei Shu’er looked at Tang Zan with so guilt.

"Perhaps I should buy a house for my mother and them, just next door to us?"

Tang Zan pulled Pei Shu’er into his arms.

"Why, don’t you trust that I can accommodate them?"

As Pei Shu’er was about to speak, Tang Zan continued.

"Besides, your mother’s family is all gone now; apart from here, there’s no one to back her up."

"If they lived sowhere else, can you guarantee those won from the Pei Mansion wouldn’t harm her? They’ll have it easier outside the mansion, right?"

Pei Shu’er said, "Alright then, I will cover their rent and food expenses."

Tang Zan gritted his teeth, "Pei Shu’er, haven’t I made it clear? You’re my Princess Consort, yet you’re being so calculative with ?"

Realizing Tang Zan was truly angry, Pei Shu’er dared not speak further.

"Alright, alright, let it be; it’s fine this way."

Tang Zan’s expression finally softened.

Pei Shu’er, feeling sleepy and about to doze off, suddenly rembered she had not ntioned sothing about an epidemic to Tang Zan, and her sleepiness vanished.

"Tang Zan, there’s sothing important I need to tell you."

Tang Zan said, "Go ahead."

Pei Shu’er said, "Have you noticed recently that many people on the streets are coughing, and so are even dying from it?"

"Yes, I have."

"I suspect it’s a precursor to an epidemic. I don’t have evidence yet, but if you go out, maybe you should wear a mask?"

Even Pei Shu’er felt her words might be a bit unreasonable, especially considering the significant occasions Tang Zan attended.

But she was already eighty percent sure about the epidemic.

Tang Zan replied, "Alright, I’ll take it off only when attending court."

Pei Shu’er handed over a mask she had made to Tang Zan.

Tang Zan was taken aback, "Why does this mask look so peculiar?"

Pei Shu’er pushed Tang Zan in front of the mirror, "Try it on."

Tang Zan put on the mask, and it looked just like before he wore it.

The pattern on the mask was a drawing by Pei Shu’er of the lower half of Tang Zan’s face.

Tang Zan laughed, "With this mask, I think I won’t even need to take it off in court."

Pei Shu’er thought for a mont, "You decide based on the situation."

Tang Zan said, "Indeed, on the council, many people have started coughing."

Hearing this, Pei Shu’er felt her heart race. She exclaid, "I’ll prepare a prescription, and everyone at the Prince Zhan Mansion should drink a little as a preventive asure."

Tang Zan nodded, as the mansion had both elderly and young ones; if an epidemic struck, the weak would suffer first.

The preventive dicine was distributed under the guise of cold prevention, and everyone in the mansion was required to drink it, so everyone cooperated well.

Importantly, it was not difficult to drink, with a sweet and sour flavor.

After drinking one bowl, Tang Shuo, Tang Qinghuan, and Pei Jingyi, the three young ones, clamored for another bowl.

Leaving Shen Wanqing and Liu Xu both amused and at a loss.

"Be good, you can have more tomorrow."
