The next morning, Pei Shu’er noticed that the people from Yuhua Valley were acting strangely, their gazes on her were a bit peculiar.

At first, when she bent down to inspect the parapet, a man suddenly bumped into her.

Pei Shu’er’s body lurched outward, nearly falling off.

Thankfully, Lin Yu and Lin Hong, the two brothers, caught her in ti, or she might have ended up like a pancake.

Pei Shu’er’s gaze fell among the crowd, and the man who bumped into her had sohow already returned to the group.

Such quick reflexes clearly indicated a hidden agenda.

Pei Shu’er asked, "Who bumped into ? Step forward."

No one moved, so Pei Shu’er said, "If anyone knows who bumped into , they can bring him out."

The person was eventually pulled out by the Deserted Mountain people, and so nearly caused a conflict with the Yuhua Valley people.

The eyes of the Yuhua Valley people were full of hatred, looking at Pei Shu’er with glaring disdain.

As for Boss Xiong’s people, many had been recruited by Niu Hao during this period, now his situation was quite difficult.

Pei Shu’er smiled, "If I were dead, may I ask, who could take on the inspection work? Is this because they don’t want the city wall to be completed, so everyone gets oppressed in the military camp later?"

The other convicts looked at each other; even if Pei Shu’er hadn’t spoken, they knew her importance.

Pei Shu’er shrugged, "Since so, I’ll tell General Zhao, though I believe General Zhao won’t want unknown convicts to continue causing trouble and even resort to murder."

"It’s possible, it might lead to others being heavily punished as well."

With these words, the expressions of all the convicts changed, realizing they could no longer ignore the situation and remain detached.

Everyone moved closer to the Yuhua Valley people, dragging that man out and binding him up.

Pei Shu’er asked, "Why did you push ?"

The man refused to confess, so Pei Shu’er took a sip of Spiritual Spring Water and hit the man heavily, instantly tearing his clothes and breaking his skin.

At first, he remained tough, but after three lashes, he finally revealed that soone had ordered him.

As for who gave the orders, he dared not say anything, his whole body trembling violently.

Pei Shu’er ordered two n from Deserted Mountain to guard this square-faced man from Yuhua Valley while she continued her inspection.

The man tied outside was quickly exhausted by the sun.

The two n comfortably rested in the corner pavilion.

Pei Shu’er thought the matter had passed, but to her surprise, those people had endless tricks.

When it ca ti to drink water, Pei Shu’er picked up a teacup and sniffed it, noticing a very faint sll.

She frowned.

"Everyone, don’t drink yet."

Yinxing and others understood, using a silver needle to test each tea bowl.

Then they found no poison.

Pei Shu’er’s silver needle tested her own bowl and found the needle had turned black.

This indicated that only Pei Shu’er’s bowl was poisoned.

The poison was ant for her.

Her eyes darkened, but she didn’t ntion it to anyone else.

She simply called Yinxing and Granny Zhang over to change her bowl.

As for that bowl, Pei Shu’er "accidentally" dropped and shattered it.

In the next drinking session, Pei Shu’er noticed a small man pass by her bowl, his sleeve barely brushing it.

Pei Shu’er poured the water, tested it with a silver needle, and found the bowl was poisoned again.

Pei Shu’er approached the small man, intending to grab him.

The man slipped away like an eel without thinking.

He turned out to be one of the Yuhua Valley people.

She was intrigued, "Quite bold, aren’t you?"

The man turned around, appearing shabby and insignificant in the crowd.

He shrank back, obviously not an honest individual.

Pei Shu’er raised an eyebrow, "Were you a pickpocket before?"

The man replied obediently, "To the head supervisor, I used to farm."

Pei Shu’er chuckled; with skills like his, farming seed unlikely.

"Then tell , why did you poison ?"

The skinny man shook his head, "I didn’t."

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Alright then, drink this bowl of water."

With that, she brought over the bowl, and the man’s face changed instantly.

But Pei Shu’er stared at him, leaving him no room to refuse.

Drinking it would an death.

The skinny man quickly knelt and confessed in a low voice where others couldn’t hear.

"Head supervisor, the Yuhua Valley people gave the poison. I had no choice, or they’d kill ."

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Do you know who provided the poison?"

The man trembled, eventually saying, "I saw Doctor Liu in hiding."

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Alright, if you listen to , I can overlook your mistakes and allow you a trial stay in Deserted Mountain."

The notion of a trial stay ant that as long as no one in Deserted Mountain complained within a month, he could stay.

Upon hearing this, the skinny man’s eyes lit up.

Being closest to Deserted Mountain, he was aware of how good a place it was.

At least compared to Yuhua Valley, it was a place fit for living, not barely surviving.

He quickly kowtowed to Pei Shu’er.

"Head supervisor, just tell what to do."

Pei Shu’er smiled, "Simple, whoever gave you the powder, put the poison in their bowl."

Saying this, the smile in Pei Shu’er’s eyes deepened.

About ten minutes later, a man from Yuhua Valley fell to the ground, clutching his stomach in pain, foaming at the mouth.

Niu Hao quickly shouted, "Soone, help him now."

Pei Shu’er lazily shook her head, "He’s dood, no saving him."

Niu Hao’s eyes widened.

"Pei Shu’er, you’re leaving him to die."

Pei Shu’er lashed out, causing Niu Hao to grimace with pain.

Her eyes were cold and fierce.

"I am the head supervisor. You dare question ?"

Niu Hao’s eyes were red, evidently having a close relationship with the person.

Pei Shu’er looked at him calmly, tapping his forehead with the whip.

"If you don’t want people close to you to die, then don’t do unnecessary things, right?"

"This head of yours, it belongs to you, don’t let it foolishly be used as a weapon."

Niu Hao suddenly looked at Pei Shu’er with evident shock in his eyes; Pei Shu’er actually knew!

Pei Shu’er’s lips curved slightly.

"So, there’s no need for to save soone who wishes harm, isn’t that right?"

With these words, Niu Hao’s face completely changed.

Pei Shu’er actually knew, how did she find out?

Niu Hao looked towards the skinny man, who sensibly hid behind Pei Shu’er.

Pei Shu’er said softly, "Being by my side is good, but rember, don’t be a turncoat, or don’t bla for being unkind."
