Mrs. Li furrowed her brows: "Then only give them wild vegetables, otherwise I’ll eat separately."

"Silence! Eating separately, is that sothing you can ntion so casually?" Old Madam Tang angrily interrupted her, her voice thunderous.

Pei Shu’er felt a bit regretful; she actually hoped the main family would separate and eat.

But listening to the old lady scold people is quite interesting too.

"From the main branch, I thought you were clever, but it seems you’re just a bit smart; do you think catching a wild chicken makes you impressive?"

"Look at the families around; which one hasn’t caught sothing wild?"

"This mountain is special; in other places, forget catching wild animals—you might not even see them!"

"With your family’s lazy and greedy nature, still thinking of eating separately? If you eat separately, you wouldn’t last three days."

Pei Shu’er sighed softly and gently advised Old Madam Tang.

"Grandma, don’t get angry; it’s not good for your health. Aunt just spoke hastily; she may not really think that."

Pei Shu’er’s words made Old Madam Tang more furious.

"I think she did it on purpose. Those little tricks, she really thinks nobody knows? Finding sothing and hiding to eat it, does she think others are fools?"

Pei Shu’er said: "It’s okay; if Aunt doesn’t want to hand over her wild chicken, then forget it."

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Li was delighted and stuffed the dead wild chicken into her bundle.

Old Madam Tang’s staff hit the ground heavily.

"No way, it must be handed over and cooked together. Hand over the food you hid before; Peiyi, go and search it all."

Tang Peiyi found plenty of food: small potatoes, so dried fish, so directly hidden next to the body.

But Tang Peiyi was honest and earnest; when Old Madam Tang told him to search, he really found everything.

Only then did everyone realize that the main branch’s hidden food was enough for the Tang Family to have a decent al.

Old Madam Tang angrily poked Mrs. Li’s forehead with her finger.

"Lazy is one thing, but selfishly hiding food—if I find out next ti, your main branch will eat separately."

Mrs. Li looked aggrieved, but Old Madam Tang’s authority accumulated over ti left her no room to resist.

Others from the main branch dared not speak; though they wanted to eat separately just now, they knew if they did, only death awaited them.

When Pei Shu’er took the wild chicken from Mrs. Li, she couldn’t help but remark: "This wild chicken is quite big."

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Li’s face showed even more sadness.

If it weren’t for Pei Shu’er, she wouldn’t have had to hand over this wild chicken, such a plump one.

Tang Qinghuan blinked innocently and said: "But Sister-in-law, I see your wild chickens are bigger than Aunt’s."

Pei Shu’er laughed and patted Tang Qinghuan, making Mrs. Li’s frustration deepen.

She decided that tonight she must catch more ga in this dense forest; let that foolish Pei Shu’er leave the forest if she wants.

She knew Pei Shu’er had suggested resting on flat ground to monopolize the forest’s ga.

She couldn’t let her succeed!

She exchanged a look with the main branch people, and everyone nodded.

Even Tang Peilin, who was barely alive, weakly nodded: "We can’t leave; we’ll stay in the forest tonight."

They could find food too and eat in the forest instead of hiding, right?

After Pei Shu’er prepared the wild chicken, she collected the feathers, planning to use them for hair accessories, dusters, and a traditional version of a down jacket.

Pei Shu’er was making a pot of wild chicken soup today, and the soup was brewed thick. The rich taste of chicken wafted through the forest.

Other exiles were all enviously watching, just slling the aroma made their stomachs growl.

So were trying to distract themselves with the fragrant chicken sll while eating roasted wild vegetables. Initially, they tried to numb themselves, but the more they ate, the more they craved, with saliva constantly dripping from their mouths.

Too tantalizing! The Tang Family is exiled, yet they still manage to live like this.

The Tang Family is too much!

These people don’t seem to be exiled for punishnt; they seem to be on a vacation!

The officers’ als have always been the best, at the mont they are eating white rice, stir-fried pork, and so scrambled eggs.

But once that aroma wafted over, it made their als taste bland.

Against that pot of wild chicken soup, they felt their als were just like the als for exiles.

Sigh, stir-fried pork and scrambled eggs aren’t tasty anymore.

Old Madam Tang still divided the food among everyone, and once they received their portion, they eagerly started eating.

The wild chicken was chewy and savory; everyone savored it, practically wanting to swallow their tongues.

After finishing the chicken, no one wanted to throw away the bones. They sucked on them for a while before reluctantly putting them down.

When dividing for Yinxing and Granny Zhang, both received only one piece of wild chicken, mostly wild vegetables.

Even so, both were very grateful; they knew they got to eat at thanks to Pei Shu’er.

After eating, they regretted not having spent more ti with Pei Shu’er earlier. They realized the Tang Family’s als were of this standard; they had never tasted such richness.

As night fell, the Tang Family was about to leave the forest to rest.

Mrs. Li refused to go and looked at Pei Shu’er with a strange tone.

"Our main branch will just stay in the forest. Mother, I think you shouldn’t always listen to others; who knows, they might have bad intentions."

Seeing Mrs. Li speak like this, Pei Shu’er didn’t bother to persuade her. If soone wants to be foolish enough to kill themselves, it can’t be stopped.

Old Madam Tang glanced at Pei Shu’er, noticing her granddaughter-in-law’s calm deanor.

With her rich experience in reading people, she knew Pei Shu’er was aware of sothing.

Moreover, the officers had spoken up, so they must have discovered sothing alarming.

So she just simply warned the main branch to "be careful" and followed them out of the forest.

This angered the main branch people; even the head of the family believed Pei Shu’er’s nonsense.

The officers noticed many people staying in the forest and reminded them again.

"Tomorrow, there might be poisonous miasma in the dense forest. It’s advised to rest outside the forest."

Everyone connected it with today’s events, knowing the news ca from Pei Shu’er, and didn’t believe it at all.

So started discussing.

Mrs. Li spoke the loudest: "Pei Shu’er just knows a few herbs and thinks she’s Hua Tuo."

The main branch’s eldest daughter, Tang Qinghua, agreed: "Yeah, saying there’ll be poisonous miasma here tomorrow is too funny. Can she predict the future?"

"We’ve asked the officers who escorted exiles before. They never ntioned poisonous miasma along the way."

Besides, the dense forest is so good for hunting, most people were reluctant to leave.
