Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Letting Them Off Easy

"Keep spouting nonsense and I’ll feed you to the General."

He Tingchen, praised by Fang Anning for his good looks, imdiately straightened his face with seriousness.

The General is a Tibetan Mastiff raised by the He family, with a coat of black fur. Its round head and eyes larger than copper bells make it look particularly nacing.

Fang Anning is quite afraid of it, thankful that it’s kept in a cage, and she always passes by cautiously.

"Why feed the General? He doesn’t eat lamb skewers; the cumin is too strong. He likes big bones."

Fang Anning sat down with a playful smile and picked up a skewer of lamb to eat.

"The taste is really good, delicious."

Fang Anning took a bite and opened her eyes wide in admiration.

After finishing one skewer, however, she couldn’t help but ask with suspicion, "Is this lamb? Why does it taste a bit different from the lamb skewers I’ve had before?"

"There was a problem with what you ate before," the man said.

Fang Anning thought about it, and it made sense—He Tingchen would certainly buy the real thing.

If there were fakes, they would have been the ones she bought from street vendors before, which were cheap.

"Have you figured out who was behind the car accident yesterday?"

Fang Anning, having eaten two skewers in one go, wiped her mouth and curiously inquired.

He Tingchen spoke slowly, "You don’t need to worry about this; rest assured, you won’t be in danger."

"How can I not worry? What if it was your aunt who did it, and she doesn’t succeed this ti, she will definitely try again," Fang Anning muttered softly.

Indeed, He Tingchen said, "It’s not her, nor Bai Yunzhu."

Fang Anning breathed a sigh of relief.

It seed it wasn’t targeted at her, but rather at He Tingchen.

Given that it was an enemy of He Tingchen, he would surely have a way to deal with them. The opponent wouldn’t strike a second ti soon, having failed their first attempt.

"However, don’t go out unless you must in the next two days," He Tingchen added.

Fang Anning nodded.

At that mont, soone called He Tingchen.

He Tingchen answered the call, holding the phone before rushing off in a hurry.

Fang Anning sighed. It turns out that the days of the wealthy are not always calm and peaceful.

With so many people offended, it’s inevitable that enemies will co seeking revenge.

But since it’s not directed at her, she just has to stay at ho honestly.

She didn’t expect that on the third day, Lu Tianyu would suddenly call her, saying that there was a problem with the house she had bought for him last ti.

So, they needed her to personally confirm the issue.

"The contract is not standard? Impossible. It was traded at the real estate transaction center; how could it not be standard?" said Fang Anning.

Lu Tianyu’s voice was low, "I’m not clear on these details, but they called to say it’s not standard and want you and

to go take a look. If you don’t have ti, forget it—it’s just a house, and I don’t care if I have it or not."

"What do you an, ’just a house’? It’s more than two hundred thousand, how can I not want it?" Fang Anning imdiately replied, "Wait for , I’ll be right there."

"Okay, I’ll wait for you," said Lu Tianyu.

Then he hung up the phone and stared profoundly ahead.

"So, she’s agreed to co?"

At this mont, a woman, coquettish and charming, suddenly leaned in, hugging Lu Tianyu from behind and resting her face on his back.

Lu Tianyu replied in a low voice with a "hmm."

The woman showed a delighted expression, happily saying, "That’s great. After it’s done, we can get a large sum of money. Then we can abscond far away."

"Do you really want to flee far away with ?" Lu Tianyu asked.

The woman quickly nodded: "Of course, I dream of being with you."

"But you have to give up everything you have here."

"Huh, what do I even have here? They’ve never truly loved , they just want to use

for transactions. Tianyu, you are all I have, as long as I’m with you, I can give up anything."

"If they’ve been so terrible to you, even if you’re leaving, you shouldn’t let them benefit without giving them a piece of your mind," Lu Tianyu said.

The woman nodded: "Right, you’re correct. I’ll listen to you."

Lu Tianyu turned around and gently embraced her in his arms.

"Wife, are you going out?"

Mrs. Chen was surprised to see Fang Anning all dressed up and holding her bag as she ca down from upstairs and asked.

Fang Anning nodded: "I need to go out for a bit, I’ll be back soon. Is Chen Rui at ho? Have him take

there."

Mrs. Chen said: "Didn’t the Sir ntion that you cannot go out recently? Why do you still wish to leave?"

"I’ll just be out for a mont, it’s an urgent matter. If I don’t go, I’ll lose the house. Mrs. Chen, I’ll be back in a mont, nothing will happen," Fang Anning pleaded.

Mrs. Chen shook her head: "I can’t do that. I have to call the Sir for instructions and only if he agrees can you go out."

"Alright, then call him, I’ll wait," Fang Anning could only sit aside and wait.

Mrs. Chen used the ho’s landline to call He Tingchen, but no one picked up.

After two unsuccessful calls, Mrs. Chen said helplessly to Fang Anning: "The Sir is probably busy and didn’t hear it. I’ll ask him once he’s free."

"By then it’ll be too late; this is very important. I have to go now. You, just wait at ho!" Fang Anning imdiately stood up, grabbed her bag, and left.

"Wife, you can’t do this," Mrs. Chen said urgently.

But Fang Anning didn’t listen to her and was already out the door with her bag.

"Miss Fang, we’ve arrived. I’ll go in with you."

Chen Rui drove Fang Anning to the property transaction center. After parking the car, he said to Fang Anning.

Fang Anning responded: "There’s no need to follow, I can go in by myself. Wait for

outside; I should be back soon."

"No, I have to ensure your safety," Chen Rui insisted.

Fang Anning had no choice but to agree to let him co along.

Actually, she was afraid that Chen Rui would go back and report to He Tingchen about her eting with Lu Tianyu today.

After all, He Tingchen had said before that he did not permit her to have any contact with Lu Tianyu.

But she couldn’t be blad for this ti’s situation. If Chen Rui snitched, she would explain it well to him. He should understand considering the baby in her belly and not hold it against her, right?

Besides, even if she didn’t let Chen Rui accompany her, if He Tingchen wanted to investigate, how could she hide it?

"Miss Fang, do you need help with sothing? I can handle it for you."

The property transaction center was especially crowded. As the two entered and saw the throngs of people, they couldn’t help but frown.

Chen Rui was afraid Fang Anning would get squeezed by the crowd, so he diligently protected her.

Seeing the crowd at the counter and fearing that she would get tired from the pushing, he suggested.

Fang Anning said: "I’m not sure exactly what needs to be done; wait a mont for

to make a call."

She took out her cell phone to dial Lu Tianyu’s number.

But Lu Tianyu didn’t pick up.

Fang Anning beca anxious.

He made a special appointnt for her to co out, and she barely managed to do so; why was he now missing?

"Miss Fang, is the call not going through? If you can’t get in touch, we can leave this place for now. There are too many people; I’m worried about you getting squeezed," Chen Rui suggested again.

Fang Anning suddenly felt the urge to use the restroom due to the anxiety.

She nodded and said: "Yes, let’s go out, but I need to use the restroom first. You wait for

outside."
