Chapter 641: Chapter 640
Keira Olsen walked to Old Mr. Sims’ office corridor.
The last ti she ca here, he had just been taken away. The area wasn’t sealed off then, but now it’s been blocked both front and back, with no access to unrelated personnel.
Holly Sims’ steps were a bit disorderly, reflecting her current panic.
The two made their way to Old Mr. Sims’ office. Holly hesitated to approach, so upon seeing this, Keira Olsen pushed open the door.
An elderly man ca into view.
His head was full of gray hair, but he still looked spirited, and although his face was covered with wrinkles, one could still discern the extraordinary aura of his younger days.
The old man was standing to the side watering the plants, not looking at them. He began to speak, “I’ve already admitted my wrongs; there’s no need to question anymore.”
Upon hearing these words, Holly’s entire body began to tremble slightly.
No matter how many people said that Old Mr. Sims had confessed to the cris, Holly actually didn’t believe it.
But at this mont, hearing those words from her grandfather, she only felt as though her worldview had crumbled.
She staggered forward, her voice trembling: “Grandpa, it’s not like that.”
Upon hearing the word “grandpa,” Old Mr. Sims’ body trembled, and then he slowly turned his head. After seeing Holly, he stood frozen in place.
He seed not to have expected Holly to co here, and after staring at her for a long while, he finally smiled: “Holly, you’ve co.”
Holly hadn’t expected him to be so nonchalant. She imdiately stepped forward and grabbed his hand, “Grandpa, tell it isn’t true, that what you just said isn’t true!”
On hearing this, Old Mr. Sims sighed.
He looked at Holly and after a long pause said, “I’m sorry, I’ve disgraced you!”
Holly’s eyes reddened. Staring at his wrinkled hands, her voice filled with a sob, “It can’t be true, Grandpa, definitely not true. You’re joking, right? You’ve always taught to be patriotic, that the interest of the country is above all else, how could you possibly do such a thing…”
Holly, eyes bloodshot, looked at him: “Grandpa, speak, all of this must be a lie!”
Old Mr. Sims sighed upon hearing her words: “Holly, Grandpa was montarily confused, mainly because I had never seen so much money in my life. I thought a small mistake wouldn’t cause any issues…”
“Impossible! There must be so misunderstanding! The person you hate the most is Barry Brandt!!”
Holly shook her head frantically, utterly unwilling to accept the truth of the matter.
Old Mr. Sims lowered his gaze, suddenly sighed and said, “Do you rember, thirteen years ago, when your grandmother was critically ill?”
Holly was taken aback.
Old Mr. Sims then said, “Back then, your grandmother was very sick, and only M country had the advanced dical standards that could save her. But at the ti, because of our special status, we had no money, and the people abroad also refused to treat us because of our identity, unless we offered a high price. They demanded a hundred million from , Holly, and you know, our family fortune was at most several tens of millions. I had always thought that sum was enough for us to live on, and that was the first ti I felt the helplessness of being poor…”
Old Mr. Sims lowered his gaze: “The mont your grandmother passed away, I suddenly felt the desire to have a lot of money, an enormous amount of money. What if it was your grandmother this ti, your father the next ti, and then what if it was you? What would I do?”
Old Mr. Sims looked at her: “Without money, there is no sense of security, and that’s why the first transaction happened… As for what happened later, I was compelled.”
“A person who tells one lie will need countless lies to cover it. When one does sothing wrong, they need to commit countless wrongs to cover it up. And just like that, I found myself in a terrible ss; therefore, I did not dare to spend that money, didn’t dare to touch it, I could only let it sit.”
Old Mr. Sims gave a bitter smile: “Tens of billions of US Dollars, I often think that it’s enough to save hundreds of your grandmother’s life… Holly, it’s my fault…I’ve made a grievous mistake.”
Holly looked at Old Mr. Sims incredulously: “Grandpa… why didn’t you tell earlier? Why didn’t you say it sooner! Why did you keep these things from …”
She cried inconsolably, “Grandpa, you’ve taught since I was little, even so, one should never give in, how could you possibly lose to money… Grandpa!”
Old Mr. Sims patted her shoulder, “Holly, I’ve implicated you and your father, haven’t I?”
Holly lowered her head: “My dad has been dismissed from his post, currently detained at ho and awaiting disciplinary action. There’s a generation between you and , yet I still have to undergo investigation. Grandpa, how could you do sothing like this!”
Old Mr. Sims lowered his gaze: “I have nothing to say. Whatever punishnt they decide above, I can accept. Holly, you’re innocent, I am sorry to you and your father…”
The guilt in his eyes was beyond disguise.
Holly couldn’t help but get teary-eyed, then suddenly thought of sothing, and spoke directly: “So, is that why you’ve been unwilling to hand over the Special Division to Uncle Dawson for all these years? Is it because as long as you control the Special Division, you have access to so many resources?”
Old Mr. Sims bitter-smiled again: “Correct.”
Holly took a step back, staggering, she stared at Old Mr. Sims: “How could you do this, do you know, you’ve broken Uncle Dawson’s heart!”
After saying this, as if unable to bear the shocks any longer, she ran out.
After she left, only then did Old Mr. Sims turn to look at Keira Olsen: “You must be the eldest sister, right?”
Keira Olsen hadn’t expected he would recognize her, and was montarily startled.
Old Mr. Sims then smiled, “The only people who can walk in here as they please are Brian Dawson and the eldest sister. I’ve always heard Holly ntion her friend to .”
Keira Olsen pursed her lips and finally spoke: “Hello, Old Mr. Sims.”
She gave him a bow.
Old Mr. Sims then said, “Holly’s future is in your hands. I know because of , her life is going to be shadowed. I hope you can make it a little less hard for her.”
After hearing this, Keira Olsen sighed, “Old Mr. Sims, stop acting, Holly isn’t here anymore.”
