Chapter 456: Chapter 455 Chapter 456: Chapter 455 Mary Davis paused in her eating but said nothing, simply taking another sip of soup before setting her bowl down: “I’m full.”

Kiera imdiately urged, “Eat a little more, you’re eating for two now.”

Mary Davis gave a bitter smile: “I have no appetite.”

Kiera sighed, “Alright then… go and rest.”

Mary Davis pursed her lips and finally turned to look out the window, before speaking: “Amy, can you…”

“Yes, I’ll drive him away right now.”

Kiera stood up, went outside, picked up an umbrella, and charged into the heavy rain. She approached Ellis Olsen, took a silent breath.

Ellis was thoroughly soaked.

The cool wind blew on him, yet he seed to feel nothing.

Kiera spoke, “Big brother, are you trying to force Mary to do sothing?”

Ellis faltered: “I’m not.”

Kiera then lowered her gaze: “But by standing here, aren’t you pressuring her or to let you in?”

Ellis looked at her with hopeful eyes: “So can I co in…”

“No, you can’t.”

Kiera coldly refused.

She went on: “Your presence here is distracting Mary. She just had a miscarriage; she’s weak and needs to rest properly. Are you sure you still want to stay?”

Ellis was taken aback.

Kiera sighed again: “You should at least give her more ti to think. It all happened yesterday, and you’re pressing her to forgive you today. Do you think that’s possible?”

Ellis clenched his hands.

After a long while, he slowly raised his head to look at the second floor.

There, a figure appeared at the window, just a shadow, without showing the person.

Ellis gave a bitter smile: “Sister, do you think Mary will forgive ?”

“I don’t know.” Kiera looked at him: “If it were , I probably wouldn’t forgive, but her… I’m not sure.”

Kiera has always been a carefree person.

Back when Lewis Horton wavered between his old fla and her, she simply chose to back away. If Lewis dared to treat her the way Ellis treated Mary, she would definitely leave.

Ellis hung his head and smiled bitterly: “I’m just afraid she won’t forgive .”

Kiera sighed again, “But if you stay here, she definitely won’t sleep well tonight.”

Having said that, she placed the umbrella in Ellis’s hands, then turned around, planning to run back ho, when she turned her head and saw Lewis Horton wearing pajamas, standing behind her with an umbrella.

She imdiately ducked under Lewis’s umbrella and the two turned to enter the living room.

After entering, Kiera stomped her feet to shake off the dampness from her shoes and said to Lewis, “It was just a short distance; I could have run it. Why did you co out? Look, now your clothes are damp.”

Lewis looked down at her, silent.

He had said he would accompany her on her path forward.

These few steps were also part of the way.

He reached out to ruffle Kiera’s hair, smiled warmly, set the umbrella aside, and then nodded towards Kiera’s back.

Kiera turned and saw Ellis, umbrella in hand, silently turning and heading for the door.

She breathed a sigh of relief: “If he really stood out there all night, Mary definitely wouldn’t be able to sleep. She’s already overwrought. I’m really worried about her child…”

That child had such a troubled fate.

Unwanted by the father, tornted by various abortion drugs, and then undergoing amniocentesis…

If it weren’t for Mary being well-nurtured from a young age and healthy, soone else might have miscarried.

Lewis nodded: “Don’t overthink it; let’s go rest. You’ve been busy all day too.”

“Mhm.”

Kiera and Lewis then went upstairs. They first checked on little Amy sleeping, who now had a plumper face after so ti, no longer the sharp, thin little lon face of before.

She was sleeping soundly…

For a child, no matter how hard the past was, living a happy life for a while would make them forget the unhappiness.

With just a little kindness from her parents, she would be happy.

If only Mary could be like a child and forget the past, how good that would be?

Unfortunately, there are no ‘ifs.’

The harm Ellis had done to her was done, and likely irreparable.

Kiera touched little Amy’s cheek and left the room with Lewis.

When they left, Lewis Horton couldn’t help but ask, “You really like children that much?”

“Yeah, I do,” Keira Olsen replied. “They’re so pure and adorable! There are no worries in their eyes.”

Lewis Horton lowered his voice, “So in the future, should we have a few more?”

“Hehe, if you were the one giving birth, I’d have a few more,” Keira Olsen rolled her eyes.

Lewis Horton paused slightly.

Then he silently sighed.

After all, how could a woman with a personality like Keira’s be willing to have children for him?

He just cursed the fact that wombs were a part of a woman’s body; if it were in his own, he would definitely have more children to keep her with him.

For so reason, he always felt like Keira was drifting further and further away from him.

While Lewis Horton’s heart was slowly cooling, he heard the woman speak again, lazily, “One boy and one girl is enough.”

Lewis Horton: !!

His eyes instantly brightened, and he hurried after her, “So should we have a boy first, or a girl?”

“Either is fine. Do you have a preference for a boy or a girl?”

“As long as they’re born from you, I’ll love them.”

“…”

Keira Olsen rolled her eyes again and gave him a glance, “Mr. Horton, do you know what you look like right now?”

“What?”

“Love-struck.”

“…”

Lewis Horton couldn’t help but laugh, yet he still followed by her side, “Being love-struck is the best dowry a man can offer.”

That night, Keira Olsen paid the price for spritzing on the scent that Lewis Horton had paid for.

After the first round ended, she had planned to sleep well, but the man pulled her close again.

Keira Olsen: “…We’re good for today, right?”

“No.” The man’s voice was husky, “I’m love-struck.”

Keira Olsen: ?

She tried hard to push the man away, “You need to exercise restraint, this can harm your health.”

“I know.” His kisses fell upon her again, “But I’m love-struck.”

“…”

She was held in the man’s embrace, moved from the sofa to the bed, until she felt so utterly exhausted that even her fingertips lacked the strength to move.

But the man still held her tight.

She shifted slightly and sighed, “Let’s sleep, love-struck.”

Watching her tiredly close her eyes, looking as if she could fall asleep at any mont, Lewis Horton chuckled to himself.

With so much happening that day, with her tendency to overthink, it was probably better to engage in so physical activity to help her sleep.

He lay beside her, then suddenly got up, took his phone to the balcony, and dialed Tom Davis’s number, “Help check out the Gill family…”

Tom Davis imdiately said, “Check what?”

Lewis Horton’s gaze turned profound, “Everything.”

Tom Davis was startled and asked cautiously, “And then?”

“Acquire it.”

Tom Davis: “…”

“Boss, the Horton Group seems unable to acquire the Gill family. Are you planning to use overseas influence?”

Lewis Horton stared into the darkness in the distance, much like the unknown danger, his tone light, “Yes.”

It sounded as though he was deciding to buy a bun.

“Understood.”

Tom Davis kept his response simple, “But boss, didn’t you say before that you wouldn’t make a move on dostic families? Aren’t you worried about exposing your identity like this?”

Lewis Horton snorted, “That’s for you to consider.”

“…Alright.” Tom Davis muttered under his breath, “After acquiring the Gill family, are you going to buy the other families too? Since Miss Olsen will be working with the Five Great Families, you might as well acquire all of them and present them to Miss Olsen as a dowry…”

“…”

Perhaps because he had just been satisfied, Lewis Horton had a high tolerance for his ramblings.

But just before hanging up the phone, Lewis Horton suddenly added, “Oh, and check up on Nara Gill and the Gill family…”
