Lin Ye was overjoyed.
’Another unexpected reward!’
It seed he was gradually figuring out the system’s temperant.
Whenever he proactively took on a difficult challenge or found himself in a perilous situation, it would always pop up at the opportune mont to issue a side quest with generous rewards.
The last side quest in the Black Silk Forest had resulted in a minor upgrade for his Taotie.
This ti, the reward was even a brand-new chanic.
Of all the chanics Lin Ye currently possessed, regardless of their quality, not a single one was useless.
’What could this random chanic be?’
Lin Ye was filled with anticipation.
However, the requirents for this mission were truly a bit outrageous.
Assassinate their Chieftain without alerting more than ten mbers of the Eight-ard Race.
Lin Ye’s original plan had been to find the place, then go on a rampage and plow straight through, slaughtering everyone in his path—Chieftain and slave soldiers alike.
Now, it seed he had to change his approach and execute a precision assassination.
...
「Twenty-so minutes later.」
Lin Ye’s figure burst out from the twisted, bizarre forest of withered, ancient trees.
He arrived at the edge of a cliff.
A biting wind gusted up from below, whipping at the corners of his clothes.
Taking advantage of the high ground, Lin Ye gazed into the distance. Far below the cliff, a massive canyon ca into view.
After breaking through to the Gang Condensation Realm, Lin Ye discovered his five senses had also been massively enhanced.
With his current eyesight, he could already make out topographical details from hundreds of kiloters away.
Within the canyon, dark red lava flowed slowly like a river, emanating a scorching heat.
On the steep, black rock faces on both sides of the canyon, nurous caves, clearly carved by hand, were densely clustered like a honeycomb.
And at the canyon’s sole entrance, two enormous blood-red banners snapped and fluttered in the wind.
’That’s the place.’
The Blood Slaughter Tribe from Kagu’s mories.
Lin Ye visually estimated the cliff’s height to be nearly a thousand ters.
Without the slightest hesitation, he took a step forward and leaped off the cliff.
With his current physical prowess and Gang Sha Body Protection, it would be quite difficult for him to even die from a fall of this height.
Lin Ye recalled the experience of controlling that elite from the Stone Ghost Race.
Lin Ye was still a little envious of these winged non-human races.
’It’s a pity I still can’t fly. If I could, it would make so many things more convenient.’
As his body plumted and the ground rushed up to et him, a thought crossed Lin Ye’s mind.
HUM!
A solid wall of purple crystal condensed out of thin air beneath his feet.
He lightly tapped the crystal wall with the tip of his foot, instantly neutralizing most of his downward montum. Using the rebound, his body shot off diagonally toward the canyon like an arrow loosed from a bow.
The montum from his fall, combined with several mid-air kicks for leverage, allowed him to effortlessly cross a distance of over a hundred kiloters in just over ten seconds.
Finally, he landed steadily on the solid black ground without making a sound.
This kind of exquisite control over the Crystalization skill was sothing Lin Ye absolutely couldn’t have managed before his breakthrough.
Back then, the speed and hardness of his condensed crystals were nowhere near their current level.
"ROAR!!"
The mont Lin Ye landed, he heard an angry roar.
Two patrols of the Eight-ard Race had spotted him.
Over ten mbers of the Eight-ard Race, their eyes wide with fury and the red war markings on their bodies faintly glowing, charged at Lin Ye with a roar, wasting no words.
’I’m still outside the canyon. The mission requires to avoid being spotted by more than ten mbers of the Eight-ard Race during the assassination *inside* the canyon.’
So, Lin Ye wasn’t worried that the mission would fail imdiately.
SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
Before the bare-handed mbers of the Eight-ard Race could even get close, the piercing sound of arrows tearing through the air rang out.
Several arrows sliced through the air, aid straight for Lin Ye’s vital points.
Lin Ye’s figure swayed slightly, and he easily dodged them.
He could clearly feel that as he got closer to the settlent of the Eight-ard Race, the quality of their equipnt had improved by more than a single tier.
The speed of the arrows fired from their powerful bows could almost rival that of bullets.
A purple light flashed in Lin Ye’s eyes. In an instant, he drew upon nearly twenty percent of the vast Spiritual Power within his Sea of Consciousness.
He locked on to the four Eight-ard archers responsible for the ranged attacks several dozen ters away.
The next mont, four crystal spears shimring with a cold, eerie purple light tore through the air at a speed even more terrifying than the arrows. They crossed the dozens of ters in an instant, striking first despite being launched second!
THUD!
Four dull thuds of piercing flesh rang out almost simultaneously.
The four mbers of the Eight-ard Race who had just loosed their first volley of arrows froze abruptly. A clean hole had been punched straight through the center of each of their foreheads, and the fierce light in their eyes rapidly dimd.
A thought sparked in Lin Ye’s mind.
’In his hands, the Crystalization skill could now be used as a ranged attack with even greater reach than Gang Sha.’
’It was just a bit extravagant to use it this way.’
The twenty percent of Spiritual Power he had just drawn was more than double his total amount back at the peak of the Vein Opening Realm.
A series of even more furious roars erupted.
Seeing their comrades instantly killed by this human’s bizarre thods, the dozen or so remaining mbers of the Eight-ard Race showed no fear. Instead, like completely enraged beasts, their speed quickened even more.
Along the way, Lin Ye had more or less figured out the habits of the two main non-human races in this area.
The Stone Ghost Race and the Eight-ard Race were both social creatures with rudintary social hierarchies.
But the Stone Ghost Race was more cunning, adept at ambushes and ranged harassnt. If they couldn’t win a fight, they would flee without hesitation.
