“You again!?”
Early in the morning, Lu Muyuan had been planning to go out and grab so breakfast. However, as soon as she opened the dormitory door, she was t with soone she least wanted to see.
“I need to see Xiao Ya.”
Ling Ning said flatly, entirely unfazed by Lu Muyuan’s attitude.
Lu Muyuan was about to say that Su Ya wasn’t in when a sleepy voice drifted from inside the dorm.
“Hm? Soone looking for ?”
“Don’t look at like that,” Ling Ning said. “I’m not going to do anything to Su Ya. I’m just here to pick her up for work.”
“Hmph, who knows?”
In the end, Ling Ning stepped into the dormitory, while Lu Muyuan abandoned her breakfast plans and returned inside, sitting down at her desk and glaring at Ling Ning as if she were so kind of criminal.
Ignoring her, Ling Ning approached Su Ya’s bed and said gently, “Wake up, sleepyhead.”
“I’m not a sleepyhead!”
Su Ya blinked at Ling Ning in surprise, clearly not expecting her to co and pick her up.
“Haha, if I didn’t co, you’d still be in bed, wouldn’t you?”
“Wh-what are you talking about? I was just about to get up!”
Su Ya blinked a few more tis, but deep down, she knew Ling Ning was probably right. If Ling Ning hadn’t shown up, she might still be snoozing.
Seeing Su Ya scrambling out of bed, Ling Ning chuckled softly and said, “No need to rush. We have plenty of ti.”
“Mind your own business.”
Watching their interaction, Lu Muyuan pursed her lips, her previously neutral expression tinged with a hint of lancholy.
After freshening up, Su Ya reappeared in the dormitory, looking much more awake. However, as soon as she began rummaging through her wardrobe, a conflicted expression crossed her face, as if agonizing over what to wear.
Ling Ning walked over and, without hesitation, picked out an outfit for her. “This one. I checked the weather—it won’t be too cold today. This will be perfect.”
“Alright… I guess.”
As Su Ya took the clothes and was about to change, she suddenly turned back, glaring at Ling Ning. “I’m getting changed! Go outside!”
“Don’t be like that. We’re both girls, right? If it makes you feel better, you can watch change later.”
“Who’d want to watch that!?”
Eventually, under Ling Ning’s relentless teasing, Su Ya took the clothes into the bathroom to change, leaving Ling Ning looking slightly disappointed.
While Su Ya was changing, Lu Muyuan broke the silence. “What’s your deal, really?”
“I wish I knew.”
“Hm?”
Ling Ning didn’t elaborate, instead staring silently at Su Ya’s bed, lost in thought.
Soon, Su Ya returned, fully dressed. Before she could say anything, Ling Ning stepped up and helped tidy the little details of her outfit.
Watching this, Lu Muyuan couldn’t help but feel like the two of them had been living together for years, like an old married couple.
“Always double-check before heading out. I won’t always be around to do this for you.”
“Then I’ll just stay by your side every day.”
“Hm?”
Ling Ning glanced at Su Ya quizzically, having been too focused on fixing her outfit to catch what she said. Su Ya’s voice had been so soft it was barely audible.
“N-never mind!”
Su Ya quickly turned away, unwilling to repeat such an embarrassing statent.
Satisfied with her handiwork, Ling Ning nodded. “Alright, let’s go.”
As they were leaving, Su Ya glanced back at Lu Muyuan and said, “I’m heading out, Mantouka.”
“Yeah, have fun,” Lu Muyuan replied.
After watching the two leave, Lu Muyuan sighed silently to herself. No matter how hard she tried, Su Ya always saw her as just a good friend, a close confidante. She’d never once seen Su Ya smile at her the way she smiled at Ling Ning.
“I’ve completely lost, haven’t I?”
Outside the school gates, Ling Ning didn’t head straight for the company. Instead, she led Su Ya to a nearby food street, filled with enticing breakfast options.
Since they had plenty of ti, she decided they might as well eat first.
As they ate, Ling Ning noticed Su Ya’s nervous expression and couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re not still nervous, are you? Don’t tell you were so tense last night that you couldn’t sleep.”
“N-no, of course not!”
“I told you, I’m the one going on stage. All you need to do is stick close to Sister Qin Qing.”
“I know, I know.”
After breakfast, they took a cab to the company. They arrived just in ti—neither early nor late—which even Ling Ning found a bit surprising.
“Ling Ning, you’re here! Why so late today?”
“About that, you’ll have to ask this one here.”
Ling Ning replied, gesturing toward Su Ya. Caught off guard, Su Ya blinked rapidly, stamring without managing to say anything coherent.
“Forget it, it’s no big deal. We’re on ti, after all. Let’s head straight to the venue.”
“Alright.”
Without even sitting down, the two got into Qin Qing’s car and headed to the convention center. Ling Ning couldn’t help but feel like she’d been to this place for runway shows more tis than she could count.
“Ling Ning, you go ahead and get ready. I’ll take Xiao Ya for a little tour.”
“Alright, I’m going in. Xiao Ya, don’t wander off, okay?”
With a playful pout, Su Ya replied, “Do you think I’m a grade-schooler? I’m not going to get lost!”
“Just stick close to Sister Qin Qing. Watch my performance later!”
As Ling Ning disappeared into the venue, Su Ya stuck out her tongue mischievously before following Qin Qing into the hall.
Catching Su Ya’s expression, a flicker of an unreadable emotion passed through Qin Qing’s eyes, as if she were pondering sothing.
