"Finally done with work for today."

Ling Ning stood outside the magazine office, glancing up at the darkening sky. She sighed helplessly. Why did everyone around her have to be such workaholics? Even though it was well past quitting ti, they insisted on finishing the photoshoot.

This had derailed her initial plan to invite Su Ya out for a al. Left with no other choice, she decided to find sowhere nearby to eat. It wasn’t a big deal—there would be another chance tomorrow. She could simply invite Su Ya again then.

"Xiao Ya, what do you feel like eating tonight?"

Hearing Ling Ning’s question, Su Ya tilted her head slightly, thought for a mont, and then replied, "Whatever you eat, I’ll eat."

"Huh!? Are you sure about that?"

"Don’t worry. I’m definitely not a picky eater!" Su Ya patted her chest confidently.

Ling Ning couldn’t help but smile wryly. Of all people, she knew best about Su Ya’s selective eating habits. However, pointing it out would probably embarrass her.

A mischievous thought crossed Ling Ning’s mind. She leaned closer to Su Ya’s ear and whispered, "Actually, I’m craving you tonight."

"Eh!?"

Startled by Ling Ning’s words, Su Ya instinctively took two steps back, looking at her with a mix of shock and suspicion. Of course, she understood the double aning behind "craving."

If soone was going to be "eaten," wouldn’t it make more sense for her to "eat" Ling Ning?

"Alright, I’m just joking. Let’s walk around and see if there’s anything good to eat nearby."

"Okay."

The two wandered along the bustling street, casually searching for a dinner spot. As they walked, Ling Ning suddenly noticed a love hotel and stopped in her tracks.

"Xiao Ya, do you rember that place we went to shelter from the rain?"

Following Ling Ning’s gaze, Su Ya’s fair cheeks turned a faint shade of pink as her eyes landed on the building in question. She stamred, "Wh-who would rember a place like that!?"

"You don’t rember? Should we go relive the experience?"

"No way! Get lost."

Ignoring Ling Ning, Su Ya strode forward.

Ling Ning shrugged helplessly before quickly catching up with Su Ya.

After wandering around for a while, they stopped in front of a fast-food chain called "Blue Lane."

"Why don’t we keep it simple and eat here tonight? What do you think?"

"Sure, that works."

It was dinnerti, and the restaurant was crowded. Not a single seat was available. But as luck would have it, just as Ling Ning approached a table, two people got up to leave, leaving her and Su Ya with a spot.

Soon after, Su Ya returned with their food. Watching Su Ya happily munch on fried chicken, Ling Ning chuckled and said, "Eating such high-calorie food this late at night—be careful not to break the scale."

"It’s fine. I only eat like this once a month."

"Huh!? Really? Just once?"

Hearing Ling Ning’s words, Su Ya paused mid-bite, hesitated for a mont, and then replied, "Maybe two or three tis a month..."

In her past life, Su Ya had relied on Ling Ning to monitor her eating habits, limiting her visits to places like "Blue Lane" to just once a month. Otherwise, she would have been unable to resist the temptation.

Ling Ning didn’t get it. Was the food really that good?

"I was just teasing. If you want to eat, go ahead and enjoy. Even if you end up round and chubby, I’ll still like you just the sa~"

"Who... who’s going to get round and chubby!?"

Seeming to recall sothing, Su Ya asked curiously, "Ling Ning, what’s it like to walk the runway?"

"It’s pretty much the sa as what you see on TV—nothing special."

Perhaps noticing Su Ya’s nervousness, Ling Ning smiled and added, "Don’t worry. You’re just going to watch from the sidelines. I’ll be the one on stage. It’s not a big deal."

"That’s true, but I’ve never attended anything like this before."

"You’ll find out tomorrow, won’t you?"

"Yeah."

After finishing their al, the two stepped out of the restaurant. Stretching as she took in the vibrant street scene, Ling Ning said, "It’s getting late. Let walk you ho."

"There’s no need. I can get back on my own. It’s not far from school, and it’s all main roads. You should head back yourself."

Before Ling Ning could respond, Su Ya turned and walked away.

Ling Ning twirled a lock of her hair, hesitated for a mont, and then quietly turned to leave as well.

If she took the route past her old ho, it would be a quicker walk back.

As she strolled down the familiar streets, Ling Ning couldn’t help but reflect. It had been quite so ti since she moved. If she hadn’t transmigrated, what would her current self be like?

But such thoughts were pointless. She had already transmigrated, so there was no use dwelling on "what ifs."

Shaking her head, she suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder. Startled, she turned around to find her discipline, Jiang Xue, standing behind her.

"Isn’t this Jiang Xue? Just got off work?"

"Yes, I saw soone from behind who looked like Master, so I ca over to say hello. Looks like I wasn’t mistaken," Jiang Xue said with a gentle smile.

"I see. How’s work going? And your progress with the manga?" Ling Ning asked.

"Everything’s progressing steadily."

"That’s good."

After a few brief exchanges, an awkward silence settled between them again. Ever since Jiang Xue’s confession, they hadn’t talked much. It was as if there was an invisible wall between them.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to talk, but every conversation seed to reach this point of stagnation after just a few lines. Ling Ning couldn’t figure out why.

"Um... if there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading ho now."

Just as Ling Ning was about to leave, Jiang Xue suddenly grabbed her hand. Gazing at Ling Ning’s flawless face, she said, "Master, why don’t you co over to my place for a bit?"

"Huh!?"
