"Really? Is that so? But why do I feel like your tone is a bit uncertain?" Ling Ning teased Lin Xi with a cheerful expression.
"Shut... shut up already! Go lie down or do sothing useful, will you!"
Flustered, Lin Xi pushed Ling Ning away and returned to her seat. Despite trying to focus on her ani, her mind kept circling back to Ling Ning's words. Could it really be that she wasn’t straight?
No matter how much she thought about it, sothing didn’t feel right. Maybe it was ti to get a boyfriend to clear up this confusion. That should help her figure out if she was truly straight or not.
Ling Ning didn’t mind Lin Xi’s reaction. She simply returned to her seat and picked up her phone to check her daughter’s latest update.
The story was as heartwarming as always, but sothing about it felt slightly off. The interactions between the female protagonist and her "mother" were unusually intimate—more like a couple than family.
No, no, no! That must just be her imagination.
Noticing Ling Ning’s strange expression, Xia You tilted her head and asked softly, "Ling Ning, is sothing wrong?"
"No... nothing. The novel just ended on a cliffhanger at such an intense mont that I kind of want to spank the author," Ling Ning replied with a straight face.
"I get that feeling whenever I read your novels too."
Her response left Ling Ning montarily speechless.
The lunch break flew by quickly. After skimming the novel for a while, Ling Ning realized it was almost ti for class. Bidding farewell to everyone, she left the clubroom with Xia You.
After Ling Ning left, Zhao Rui stood and stretched lazily. Spotting Lin Xi tidying up, she seed to think of sothing and casually walked over.
Seeing Zhao Rui approach, Lin Xi gave her a wary look. "What do you want?"
"I was just thinking, Lin Xi, your self-control is quite impressive~"
Zhao Rui’s comnt left Lin Xi montarily stunned. "Self-control? What are you talking about? Could you not beat around the bush?"
"Alright then. What I an is, aren’t you bothered at all by the fact that Ling Ning has a girlfriend now?"
"If Ling Ning has a girlfriend, then she does. It’s her choice; it has nothing to do with ."
Though Lin Xi’s words were dismissive, a trace of unease lingered in her heart. She couldn’t quite understand why. Did she actually feel sothing for Ling Ning...? No, that couldn’t be.
At most, she thought of Ling Ning as a close friend or confidante. Surely, Ling Ning felt the sa.
Seeing Lin Xi’s conflicted expression, Zhao Rui’s grin widened.
"Alright then. Since you don’t seem to care, I suppose I’ll just go after Ling Ning myself~"
"You’re really twisted, you know that?"
"Well, if you don’t mind Ling Ning’s girlfriend being , then it shouldn’t be an issue, right?"
With that, Zhao Rui turned and walked out of the clubroom. Her reason for provoking Lin Xi? It was simply more fun when more people were involved. Whether Lin Xi joined in or not didn’t really matter—she figured it was only a matter of ti.
Imagining the chaos to co, Zhao Rui felt a surge of excitent.
anwhile, on her way back to the classroom, Ling Ning suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. She glanced around but saw nothing unusual.
It must have been her imagination.

"Class is over. Let’s head back~"
Ling Ning said with a lazy yawn. After napping through the afternoon, she felt refreshed. While sleeping through the first day of the term might seem bad, she couldn’t help herself. As long as it wasn’t Bai Jie’s class, there wasn’t much to worry about.
"Okay."
Xia You responded softly and reached out to tidy Ling Ning’s slightly disheveled hair.
As they stepped out of the classroom, a familiar figure ca into view.
Ling Ning imdiately recognized Xu Qing, who had also spotted her. Xu Qing approached casually, a bright smile on her face. "Ling Ning~"
"Xiao Qing Qing, what are you doing here?"
"I missed you, of course~" Though she had rehearsed this line countless tis, Xu Qing still felt a bit embarrassed saying it directly to Ling Ning.
The words froze Ling Ning in place, completely catching her off guard.
Xia You’s expression remained blank as she stared at Xu Qing. Though she said nothing, her gaze conveyed everything she felt.
Caught in the awkward tension, Ling Ning was at a loss for words. She had barely escaped a love triangle at lunch—why was another one unfolding in the afternoon? At this rate, things were bound to go downhill.
Ignoring Xia You’s piercing glare, Xu Qing moved closer and hooked her arm around Ling Ning’s. "Since we’re done for the day, why don’t we go for a walk?"
"Ling Ning, let’s head ho and play PUBG."
"Go shopping!"
"Play PUBG!"
Watching the two lock horns, Ling Ning coughed awkwardly. She grabbed their hands and led them to a quieter corner. With so many people around, she could already envision her na on tomorrow’s campus forum headlines if this continued.
Once they were away from the crowd, Ling Ning pulled out a coin and said, "Heads, we go to the internet café and play PUBG. Tails, we go shopping. Agreed?"
The two said nothing but nodded silently. Ling Ning expertly flipped the coin into the air. Under their surprised gazes, the coin traced a graceful arc... and promptly fell into a nearby storm drain.
"Ahem, that doesn’t count. Let try again."
This ti, the coin landed securely in Ling Ning’s hand. She revealed it—it was heads.
A victorious smile spread across Xia You’s face as she gave Xu Qing a challenging look.
Clicking her tongue, Xu Qing muttered, "You just got lucky this ti."
"Sotis, luck is also a part of strength."
Especially for soone blessed by the RNG gods.
