"Finally done."
Even in winter, after all the effort she had put in, Ling Ning found herself sweating. But it was worth it.
Feeling a bit overheated, she casually removed her jacket. The entire ti she had been busy tidying up Su Ya’s dorm room and teasing her, she had completely forgotten to take it off earlier.
It was a good day for weather, so Ling Ning had worn a thick jacket over a snug knit sweater. The sweater clung to her figure, accentuating her perfect curves. Su Ya couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy as she glanced at her.
Ling Ning’s figure really was amazing.
Suddenly struck by a thought, Ling Ning leaned closer to Su Ya, flashing her a mischievous smile. “Xiao Ya, you returned to S City without giving a call? I’m heartbroken~”
“Shut up! Don’t use that sickeningly sweet tone with !”
“I thought you’d like it.”
Ling Ning replied with a soft chuckle. She wrapped her arms around Su Ya from behind, pulling her into a quiet embrace. The faint fragrance from Su Ya’s hair made a beautiful smile grace Ling Ning’s lips.
Su Ya froze, unsure of what to do. She had thought Ling Ning might try sothing, but instead, Ling Ning simply held her silently.
“You sll lovely, Xiao Ya~”
Ling Ning’s breath brushed against Su Ya’s neck, her slightly husky voice creating an ambiguous atmosphere that seed to envelop the two of them.
Just when it felt like sothing might happen, the sound of keys at the door broke the mont.
Lu Muyuan stepped into the dorm room, pausing in surprise to see Ling Ning sitting not far from Su Ya, both of them acting as though nothing had happened. But Lu Muyuan’s sharp eyes caught the faint blush lingering on Su Ya’s cheeks, leaving her wondering what had transpired monts before.
“Mantouka, weren’t you planning to co back tomorrow?” Su Ya asked, hastily adjusting her expression to appear normal.
“That was the plan, but I managed to get a ride today, so I ca early,” Lu Muyuan replied calmly.
She hadn’t told Su Ya beforehand, intending to surprise her. However, it seed her surprise had been preempted by Ling Ning’s presence. Now, she was more concerned about why Ling Ning was here at all. Weren’t they supposed to have parted ways? Why were they alone together?
Sensing Lu Muyuan’s gaze, Ling Ning chuckled softly and explained, “I ca to help Xiao Ya tidy up her room. It’d be too much for her to handle alone~”
Lu Muyuan shot Su Ya a hesitant glance, deciding not to voice her thoughts. Instead, she let out a small huff and started unpacking her things.
Su Ya moved to help her, and while Ling Ning initially planned to join in, a sharp look from Lu Muyuan made her reconsider. It seed Lu Muyuan genuinely disliked her.
After everything was tidied, the dorm fell into an awkward silence.
Suddenly, Su Ya stood up and said, “I’m going to the restroom.”
As soon as Su Ya left, Lu Muyuan turned to Ling Ning and spoke without hesitation. “Why are you still approaching Su Ya? Haven’t you hurt her enough?”
“I like Xiao Ya. That’s all there is to it.”
“You…”
Lu Muyuan’s frustration boiled over, and she stord up to Ling Ning, even raising a clenched fist. But Ling Ning didn’t dodge or resist; she simply stared at Lu Muyuan silently.
After a mont, Lu Muyuan let out a sigh and lowered her hand. Even if she wanted to lash out, it wouldn’t change anything. Su Ya’s lingering feelings for Ling Ning were evident in her gaze. No matter what Lu Muyuan did, she would always be just a friend.
When Su Ya returned, she glanced at Lu Muyuan and Ling Ning, sensing that sothing had happened in her absence.
Ling Ning smiled and said, “Xiao Ya, it’s almost lunchti. Why don’t we grab sothing to eat~?”
“Huh?”
Caught off guard, Su Ya glanced at Lu Muyuan, hesitant to respond. Before she could say anything, Lu Muyuan spoke first. “Go if you want. Don’t worry about —I need to visit so relatives later.”
She wasn’t lying, but under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have let Su Ya leave with Ling Ning. Who knew what might happen between them?
Ling Ning, however, was surprised by Lu Muyuan’s concession. Had she given up?
Grabbing her jacket, Ling Ning walked out of the dorm with Su Ya. The two strolled through campus, occasionally passing returning students. The realization that the holiday break was almost over left Ling Ning feeling a little drained.
“What do you want for lunch, Xiao Ya? It’s my treat~”
“Hmm, is there a place that’s overpriced with tiny portions? I want to try it.”
Ling Ning fell silent, and Su Ya’s face lit up with delight. She loved seeing Ling Ning flustered.
But her amusent was short-lived as Ling Ning replied, “I know just the place. A Western restaurant that perfectly fits your description. Shall we go?”
Her earnest tone made it clear she wasn’t joking.
“Never mind. I’ll let you off the hook today. Let’s just find sowhere simple.”
“Alright~”
Out of Su Ya’s line of sight, a sly smile spread across Ling Ning’s face. She knew Su Ya too well. This playful banter was a ga she’d mastered in her past life. Su Ya only wanted to see her squirm and had no intention of actually going to such a restaurant.
Pouting slightly, Su Ya thought, Why does Ling Ning always seem to have the upper hand? It’s like she knows inside and out. How strange.
Could it be that they really were a couple in their past lives?
The thought almost made Su Ya laugh. Impossible things like that could never happen, right?
