“Ling Ning, are you asleep?”

Lying on the bed in the pitch dark, Bai Yiyue turned over and wriggled closer toward Ling Ning. She stopped only when she could feel Ling Ning’s warmth.

“The bed is so big—why do you have to crowd over here?!” Ling Ning asked, clearly exasperated.

“Because being closer makes it warr! Think about it—in movies and ani, don’t they often show people keeping warm by staying close to each other? That’s gotta be scientifically backed!” Bai Yiyue replied earnestly.

Hearing this, Ling Ning rolled her eyes. “Is this the South Pole or the North Pole? Plus, there’s heating in this room, so why wouldn’t you feel hot sticking so close?”

“Nope. For , being next to you is like winter warmth and sumr coolness.”

“Fine, do as you like. I’m going to sleep—I have school tomorrow. But just so you know, if you dare lay a hand on , I’ll make sure you end up on the floor.”

“Eh?! Don’t go to sleep so early. How about chatting with for a little longer?” Bai Yiyue pleaded persistently.

When Ling Ning didn’t respond at all, Bai Yiyue pouted. Then, as though struck by an idea, she leaned close to Ling Ning’s ear and started to gently blow air.

Unsurprisingly, Ling Ning couldn’t take it for long. She turned around with a resigned expression. “What are you doing?”

If the lights were on, Bai Yiyue would have seen a faint blush spreading across Ling Ning’s face, making her look unusually captivating—or, perhaps, brimming with charm.

“I wasn’t doing anything. I just wanted to chat a bit more, that’s all,” Bai Yiyue said, feigning innocence.

“We’ve already talked about everything worth discussing. There’s nothing left to say. All I want to do now is sleep.” With that, Ling Ning turned her back again and closed her eyes.

Realizing Ling Ning genuinely wanted to sleep, Bai Yiyue finally let out a sigh of resignation. She pressed close to Ling Ning and slowly closed her eyes, savoring the faint fragrance wafting from Ling Ning’s body. A soft smile appeared on her lips.

After so ti, Ling Ning turned over cautiously. Under the faint moonlight streaming through the window, she confird Bai Yiyue was indeed asleep and sighed in relief.

Still, this obsessive childhood friend of hers had been quite well-behaved tonight. She’d expected sothing more… peculiar. The fact that nothing happened was sowhat… disappointing? Cough, as if she’d ever feel disappointed! Not at all!

Stealing a glance at Bai Yiyue’s sleeping face, Ling Ning chuckled softly and closed her eyes. At last, she could get a proper night’s sleep.

Ti passed unknowingly. Bai Yiyue, who was supposedly asleep, slowly opened her eyes. There was no trace of grogginess, suggesting she had rely pretended to sleep.

She had known Ling Ning wouldn’t fall asleep so quickly. Sure enough, Ling Ning had taken the bait. Which ant… hehe.

A myriad of mischievous ideas flashed through Bai Yiyue’s mind in that instant. However, she ultimately decided against acting on them. Instead, she leaned forward and planted a light kiss on Ling Ning’s lips.

Afterward, Bai Yiyue hugged Ling Ning and drifted off to sleep.

What she didn’t notice was Ling Ning’s eyelid twitching faintly.

“Mm!?”

Bai Yiyue slowly opened her eyes and instinctively looked to her side. However, she found no trace of Ling Ning. Reaching for her phone, she checked the ti—it was already past 10 a.m. Ling Ning had school, so she must have left already.

As though recalling sothing, Bai Yiyue’s lips curled into a faint smile.

Getting out of bed, she headed to the living room and found a note on the table. It read:

“I made breakfast, but by the ti you wake up, it’s probably close to noon. Heat it up before eating. Also, make sure to air out the damp blanket. I’ve already washed and hung the clothes. Don’t forget to bring them in tonight.”

“P.S.: Don’t do anything weird to my panties!”

After reading the note, Bai Yiyue chuckled softly. Carefully tucking the paper into a drawer in her room, she then went to freshen up in the bathroom.

anwhile, at school, Ling Ning lay sprawled on her desk, idly browsing forums on her phone. Most of the posts were about Bai Yiyue’s upcoming concert, which held no appeal for soone privy to insider knowledge.

After sighing lightly, Ling Ning put her phone away and turned to Xia You, speaking in a low voice. “Xia You, your dark circles look really heavy today. Don’t tell you stayed up all night again?”

“I just lost track of ti making videos—it’s no big deal. I’ll nap during lunch, and I’ll be fine~” Xia You replied softly.

Hearing her, Ling Ning felt a surge of warmth and concern.

Then, as though struck by a thought, Ling Ning asked curiously, “By the way, did Ye Ye throw any tantrums last night?”

“Nope, Ye Ye was very well-behaved.”

Just then, a voice ca from behind them. “Ling Ning, the great beauty! This Ye Ye you’re talking about—is she your little sister? Uh… what do you think about ?”

Ling Ning paused before flashing a kind smile. “Do you know what it ans to say sothing like that in front of soone who dotes on their little sister?”

“Uh… no offense ant! Carry on with your conversation—I’ll just take a nap.”

Though he played it cool, the boy was curious about what Ling Ning’s sister looked like. Considering Ling Ning’s own beauty, her sister couldn’t be too far behind, right?

Oh, how he wished he could et her…

Little did he know that from the mont he spoke those words, Ling Ning had ntally added him to her blacklist. Anyone who dared show interest in her “daughter” was, without exception, blacklisted.

Ignoring him, Ling Ning rested her head back on the desk, her thoughts wandering. She wondered if Bai Jie might have ti later—there was sothing she wanted to discuss with her.
