"I'm so full. The food here really is excellent~"
Bai Yiyue said, gently patting her stomach. If only her manager hadn't been present, she could have eaten even more.
Turning to her manager, Bai Yiyue asked, "Sister Zi, have you finished discussing everything?"
"Yes, it's all settled," Wu Zi replied calmly.
Bai Yiyue nodded, then turned to Ling Ning with a smile. "Ling Ning, want to co over to my place for a bit? It's still early."
Seeing Bai Yiyue's sparkling eyes, Ling Ning sighed softly. "Alright then."
She agreed partly because Bai Yiyue had done her a big favor, and partly because she wanted to talk to Bai Jie about so personal matters. This seed like a good opportunity.
Bai Yiyue cheered at Ling Ning's acceptance, surprised but delighted. Perhaps she could put her plan into action tonight.
Ling Ning turned to Qin Qing and said, "Sister Qin Qing, since we've wrapped things up, why don't you go ho and rest instead of returning to the office? If you don't get proper rest soon, those dark circles will only get worse~"
Qin Qing chuckled, "Alright, alright. I'll be good and go ho."
Overhearing their conversation, Bai Yiyue raised an eyebrow. For so reason, Ling Ning's relationship with her boss seed unusually close for a superior-subordinate dynamic. Their tone and manner of speaking were quite intimate.
But perhaps she was overthinking it.
After resting a bit, they left the restaurant. Once Qin Qing drove off, Ling Ning joined Bai Yiyue in Wu Zi's car.
On the way to Bai Yiyue's place, Ling Ning kept observing Wu Zi. Her outfit seed oddly familiar, though Ling Ning hadn't paid much attention during dinner due to the work discussions.
Sensing Ling Ning's gaze, Wu Zi asked impassively, "Is there sothing wrong with my appearance?"
"Not at all. I just feel like I've seen your outfit sowhere before," Ling Ning replied with a smile.
Wu Zi seed montarily taken aback but quickly regained her composure.
"Well, it is one of the most popular styles right now. That might be why it looks familiar."
Ling Ning nodded. As a professional model, she was aware of fashion trends. But the familiarity wasn't about the style itself, but rather how Wu Zi carried herself in the outfit.
Bai Yiyue looked at Ling Ning curiously. "Ling Ning, do you really like this outfit that much?"
"No, it's nothing. Probably just my imagination."
They arrived at Bai Yiyue's building after battling rush hour traffic. As they got out of the car, Wu Zi said, "Young miss, I won't co up. Please don't wander off tonight."
"I know, I know. With Ling Ning here, I won't go anywhere~"
Bai Yiyue said matter-of-factly, clinging to Ling Ning's arm.
After Wu Zi drove off, Ling Ning suddenly rembered where she'd seen that outfit before—on Xia Li's mysterious girlfriend during her recent date with Su Ya. The resemblance in both outfit and deanor was striking. Ling Ning felt she might have stumbled upon sothing significant.
Noticing Ling Ning lost in thought, Bai Yiyue asked, "Ling Ning, what's wrong?"
"N-nothing. Let's go up, it's cold out here," Ling Ning replied.
They entered the apartnt, and Ling Ning was surprised to find Bai Jie absent.
"Xiao Bai, is your mom not ho?"
"No, she's been busy lately so she's staying in the faculty dorm. She'll probably be back when things calm down," Bai Yiyue explained casually.
Ling Ning raised an eyebrow. "So it's just you and here?"
"That's right, just the two of us alone together~"
Bai Yiyue's excited expression gave Ling Ning an ominous feeling. But she tried not to worry too much. Though her childhood friend was a bit of a perverted fangirl, it was usually just talk.
"What would you like to drink, Ling Ning? I'll make sothing~" Bai Yiyue offered cheerfully.
"No need, I'll do it myself~"
Familiar with Bai Yiyue's ho, Ling Ning knew where everything was. She made coffee for them both, smiling at the rich aroma.
"Here, I added milk and sugar to yours."
"Thanks, I love you the most, Ling Ning."
Bai Yiyue sipped her coffee carefully. As always, Ling Ning had perfectly captured her preferred taste.
Curiously, she tried a sip of Ling Ning's coffee and grimaced. After recovering with her own sweetened coffee, she asked, "Ling Ning, why do you always drink your coffee without sugar?"
"Just personal preference," Ling Ning replied absently, watching TV.
"I see~" Bai Yiyue nodded thoughtfully, then said, "Ling Ning, there's sothing I want to tell you."
"ow ow ow?"
