“Mm~”

Ling Ning slowly opened her eyes, realizing that she’d had another strange dream. She hadn’t been watching anything suggestive recently, so why did she keep having these kinds of dreams?

She lay there, puzzled—or as the narrator would say, 百撕不得骑姐 (a playful typo for “puzzled” in Chinese), though please, don’t get the wrong idea! Just a typo there. Suddenly, she noticed sothing odd on her chest.

Looking down, she saw that the buttons on her pajamas were sohow undone, and Ling Ye was nestled against her chest, seeming to nibble on sothing in her sleep.

Gently pushing Ling Ye away, Ling Ning glanced at the small impression left on her chest and felt at a loss. No wonder she’d felt so discomfort—it turned out this was the reason.

Still, how had her buttons co undone like that? She prided herself on being a calm sleeper. She glanced over at her still-sleeping daughter and shook her head. How could she suspect her daughter of anything? After all, she was just a child.

Unable to co to any other conclusion, she shrugged it off as a side effect of her mories clashing.

Quickly changing her clothes and underwear—there was no ti for a shower—she left a note saying “Take care of breakfast yourself” along with so money before hurrying out the door.

Just monts after Ling Ning left, Ling Ye’s eyes snapped open. From the look on her mother’s face earlier, it seed she hadn’t suspected a thing, though that one last glance nearly scared her half to death.

About to go back to sleep, Ling Ye suddenly recalled sothing: her mother’s unwashed underwear was left behind in the bathroom, and she hadn’t heard the shower running earlier. That could only an one thing…

Ling Ye’s eyes sharpened with a mischievous glint as she jumped out of bed, heading straight for the bathroom, thinking to herself with a grin.

As soon as Ling Ning sat down in class, a pile of completed howork landed on her desk. Xu Qing gave her a serious look, saying, “Here’s the howork I promised to do for you, but I—”

“You’re the best, Xiao Qing!”

Before she could finish, Ling Ning hugged her, rubbing her smooth cheek affectionately against Xu Qing’s. Xu Qing felt her heart race.

“How is she so good at this… the cuteness, the sweet talk… That’s supposed to be my thing!” Xu Qing internally lanted.

“So, can I rely on you to do my howork in the future, too?” Ling Ning asked with a hopeful look.

“Yes! Leave it all to ,” Xu Qing replied, a blissful smile spreading across her face. Her mind was filled with thoughts like “Ling Ning is so adorable,” “She’s so pretty,” and even, “I want to kiss her.” The scolding words she’d planned were long forgotten.

Sitting in the back, Xia You seethed with jealousy as she watched Xu Qing. Why didn’t Ling Ning act cute with her? Her grades were just as good, and doing two sets of howork was easy for her. She’d known Ling Ning for so long, but this was the first ti she’d ever seen her act this way.

“Why won’t that little pest just disappear? If she were gone, I could sit beside Ling Ning,” Xia You muttered to herself, her gaze cold and hollow as she glared at Xu Qing.

Imrsed in her daydreams, Xu Qing suddenly felt a chill, an inexplicable sense of unease, as if a predator had fixed its sights on her. But glancing around the classroom, she quickly brushed it off. After all, who would wish her harm?

Turning to chat with Ling Ning, she was surprised to see her already fast asleep. It was impressive how quickly she could doze off.

And so, Ling Ning spent her first week of school mostly sleeping. She’d sleep from morning until lunch, get woken up by Xu Qing or Xia You to grab a bite, then nap until the end of the day, when they’d wake her again so she could go ho.

Xu Qing worried Ling Ning might dull her wits with so much sleep. But every ti a teacher called on her to answer, she managed to respond correctly—except in geography.

It seed geography was Ling Ning’s weak subject. She couldn’t even answer simple questions like “Where are the Nyanzhou Mountains?” or “What’s the climate of Old Yharnam?” despite these being basic middle school topics.

English, however, was her strong suit. Her pronunciation was flawless. When Ye Xuan had her answer a question once, she spoke with such speed and accuracy that Xu Qing could barely catch a few familiar words, and everyone else was completely lost. After that, Ye Xuan simply said, “If any of you reach Ling Ning’s level in English, I’ll let you sleep in class. If not, pay attention.”

This crushed the spirits of the students who thought they could slack off in English.

At first, the teachers were upset by their academic rep sleeping through classes, but every ti they called on her, Ling Ning managed to answer, albeit in a sleepy tone—again, with the exception of geography.

Ling Ning had Xia You to thank for this. Xia You took notes twice during each lesson, so in the morning, Ling Ning only had to sacrifice a bit of her nap ti to review the previous day’s material and skim the upcoming lesson.

It was as if her mory had a temporary boost due to her mory fusion. She’d read sothing once, and her mind would instantly recall related details from her previous life, like she had a cheat code. But she knew this “hack” would likely vanish once her mories fully rged.

Since she was a senior, Ling Ning had only one day off a week. Fortunately, it was still sumr, so she only had classes until noon on Saturdays.

And her Saturday afternoons were, of course, dedicated to working at the café. As much as she loved sleep, she loved earning money more. Just thinking about it made her drowsiness vanish.

After all, what could be more important than making money?
