"So, I’m just taking you to see your Mom—why won’t you go? Do you really want to co to class with instead?"

Ling Ning looked helplessly at Bai Yiyue. She had promised to bring her to Bai Jie, but as soon as they left the clubroom, Bai Yiyue had changed her mind, adamantly refusing to go. And Ling Ning, with her lackluster physical strength, couldn’t drag her even if she wanted to.

"Yes, yes! I just want to go to class with you!" Bai Yiyue clung tightly to Ling Ning’s arm, her tone shaless.

"Your Mom has a class this afternoon! Are you still coming?"

"Don’t try to trick . You already said this afternoon’s class isn’t hers!"

Bai Yiyue grinned triumphantly. She had already checked during lunch and confird that Ling Ning’s classes didn’t overlap with her Mom’s. She had nothing to fear.

Looking at Bai Yiyue’s stubborn face, Ling Ning sighed. She had a bad feeling about bringing her to class, but considering the teacher for this afternoon was pretty laid-back, an extra person in the room probably wouldn’t attract much attention.

Besides, she wasn’t sure Bai Yiyue would be the only uninvited guest.

"Fine. But you have to listen to . If I tell you to go east, you’re not to go west. Got it?"

"Yes, ma’am!"

Seeing Bai Yiyue’s playful grin, Ling Ning couldn’t help feeling a wave of exhaustion.

With no ti to waste, Ling Ning hurried to the classroom with Bai Yiyue. By the ti they arrived, most of the students were already seated, with a few unfamiliar faces mixed in—likely visitors from other classes.

Sitting at her desk, Xia You lit up with a smile when she saw Ling Ning. However, upon noticing Bai Yiyue behind her, her brows furrowed slightly.

Although Bai Yiyue’s disguise was thorough, Xia You couldn’t shake the feeling of familiarity. After a closer look, she realized it was indeed Bai Yiyue.

As Ling Ning reached her seat, she noticed Xia You’s puzzled expression and chuckled. "Xia You, I bet you’ve already figured out who this is."

"Yeah. What’s she doing here?"

"Who knows? She said she wanted to experience school life, so she followed here. If anything unexpected happens, I’ll need you to cover for us~"

"Got it."

Though Xia You wasn’t thrilled about helping cover for Bai Yiyue, she reluctantly agreed. After all, Ling Ning had asked.

Sensing Xia You’s reluctance, Ling Ning added, "Don’t worry. Her disguise is decent, and you know how relaxed the teacher is. Unless sothing major happens, it’ll be fine."

"Why does it feel like you’re treating as a liability?" Bai Yiyue pouted indignantly.

"At least you’re self-aware."

Bai Yiyue had no coback and sulkily slumped over the desk, her eyes wandering as if deep in thought.

Relieved that Bai Yiyue had quieted down, Ling Ning glanced around the room. Most students seed curious about the new face but weren’t reacting too strongly, which was a good sign.

That said, so reactions couldn’t be avoided—like the one from Tian Tian, a classmate sitting behind Ling Ning.

"Hey, Ling Ning, who’s that sitting next to you?" Tian Tian asked, eyeing Bai Yiyue’s back with curiosity.

"Oh, just a friend. Don’t mind her."

"Got it~"

Tian Tian nodded thoughtfully, stealing another glance at Bai Yiyue. Judging by her figure, he suspected she was another beauty, though her overly cautious attire made it hard to tell. Still, her back seed vaguely familiar, though he couldn’t quite place it.

"By the way, class should’ve started by now. Where’s the teacher?" Ling Ning muttered, checking the ti on her phone.

As if on cue, the sound of high heels clicking against the floor grew louder. That was odd—this class’s usual teacher was a middle-aged man with thinning hair. Maybe it was just soone passing by?

A sense of foreboding welled up in Ling Ning’s chest.

Her instincts were spot-on. The person entering the classroom was none other than Bai Jie—Bai Yiyue’s mother.

The mont Ling Ning saw Bai Jie, her mind blanked. How did this happen? Wasn’t Bai Jie not supposed to have any classes this afternoon? This was a disaster.

She could already picture Bai Jie’s reaction upon discovering her daughter in the classroom.

"Your scheduled teacher had an ergency, so I’m filling in for him today," Bai Jie announced upon entering.

The sound of her mother’s voice made Bai Yiyue freeze. She instinctively lifted her head and saw Bai Jie standing at the lectern.

The mont their eyes t, Bai Jie imdiately recognized her daughter, despite the disguise. As her mother, Bai Jie could spot her instantly.

Both mother and daughter’s expressions turned awkward.

Bai Jie narrowed her eyes at Bai Yiyue. Not only had she stayed out all night, but now she was sneaking into Bai Jie’s class? What if soone recognized her? And why hadn’t Ling Ning stopped her?

Shifting her gaze to Ling Ning, Bai Jie’s eyes seed to ask, "Why didn’t you stop her?"

Ling Ning blinked innocently, holding up her notebook where she had pre-written a ssage: "I couldn’t stop her!"

Seeing this, Bai Jie redirected her attention to Bai Yiyue. Ling Ning let out a silent sigh of relief. Everything she had said was true—this wasn’t her fault.

"Ling Ning, you can’t set up like this!"

"Huh? Excuse , class is in session. Could you please stop disrupting my studies?"

"You…!"
