“Excuse ~”

Ling Ning followed Xu Qing into the house, glancing around the empty living room with a hint of confusion. It was the weekend, yet Xu Qing’s parents didn’t seem to be ho.

Noticing Ling Ning’s puzzled expression, Xu Qing smiled lightly. “My parents are out of town on business for a while, so it’s just and my little sister at ho.”

At the ntion of her sister, Xu Qing looked slightly exasperated. Her sister was barely ever ho. Was the outside world really that fascinating?

Though, Xu Qing had once seen her sister acting quite affectionate with a young girl. It was probably just innocent closeness between girls… right?

“Oh, I see~”

Ling Ning nodded, realizing her earlier concern about how to greet Xu Qing’s parents was unnecessary. She shook her head with a wry smile.

Xu Qing turned to her guest. “Would you like sothing to drink, Ling Ning?”

“No thanks, I just had bubble tea. My stomach’s still full. What I really want to know is—where’s the AC remote?”

Scanning the room, Ling Ning didn’t spot the remote. She couldn’t survive the sumr heat without air conditioning.

“The living room AC’s broken. We can use the one in my room,” Xu Qing replied with a sigh.

“Alright, then I’ll head in first~”

Once inside Xu Qing’s room, Ling Ning turned on the air conditioner and promptly flopped onto the neatly made bed. The softness was so inviting that she didn’t feel like getting up.

A mont later, Xu Qing walked in with two drinks from the fridge. What greeted her was the sight of Ling Ning rolling around on her bed, clutching her pillow. She even caught a glimpse of Ling Ning’s panties—mature ones at that.

Had Ling Ning leveled up recently?

Shaking her head to banish such thoughts, Xu Qing muttered, “Ling Ning, can’t you behave yourself? Who just throws themselves onto soone else’s bed the mont they visit? If this were a guy’s house, you’d end up as a hot weapon.”

“But Xiao Qing Qing isn’t a guy~” Ling Ning replied with an innocent blink.

Xu Qing found herself at a loss for words. Sighing, she sat down on a chair and fixed her gaze on Ling Ning.

Feeling a little self-conscious under Xu Qing’s scrutiny, Ling Ning finally let go of the pillow. She adjusted her skirt to cover her panties, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that Xu Qing’s gaze carried an odd intensity. It must have been her imagination… right?

When Xu Qing saw Ling Ning cover up, a fleeting look of disappointnt crossed her face before she quickly masked it. Suddenly, an idea ca to her. “Hey, Ling Ning, do you get a lot of admirers at school?”

“Huh? What brought that up?”

“Oh, nothing. It’s just that you’re so pretty, have a good personality—or at least seem to—and you’re a top student. I imagine you’d have a lot of people interested in you.”

“Am I really that amazing in Xiao Qing Qing’s eyes?” Ling Ning sat up, her curiosity piqued.

“Ha! Not a chance.”

Xu Qing rolled her eyes. The Ling Ning she once knew was a shy, introverted girl who evoked protectiveness. But over the past year, her transformation had been so significant that Xu Qing hardly knew what to make of it.

Lowering her gaze in thought, Ling Ning finally said, “Now that you ntion it, there are quite a few people trying to woo at school.”

“And… don’t you find any of the handso ones appealing?”

At that, Ling Ning burst into laughter. She had her sights set on becoming the queen of a harem. A bunch of boys? How could they possibly catch her interest when her type was soft, adorable girls?

If Ling Ning knew that many of those “soft, adorable girls” were scheming to pin her down, her carefree expression might not have been so relaxed.

“What’s so funny? I’m asking a serious question!” Xu Qing huffed.

“Nothing, nothing. Sure, there are plenty of people after , but I just ignore them,” Ling Ning said, a playful glint in her eyes.

She rembered two boys who had tried to win her over a while ago. They started as rivals, vying for her attention. But one day, they both disappeared. It wasn’t until later that she saw them holding hands outside a hotel. From that point on, Ling Ning couldn’t look at them the sa way.

Why did it seem like all the guys chasing her ended up turning gay? Was that her curse?

“I see…”

Xu Qing let out a small sigh of relief.

“Hey, Xiao Qing Qing, why don’t you play a tune? Entertain this lord, won’t you?” Ling Ning teased, pointing at the guitar in the corner of the room.

“Oh, you’re calling yourself a lord now? I might, but only if you dance along.”

“Never mind, forget I asked.”

Laughing, Ling Ning flopped back onto the bed. Dancing? She couldn’t possibly. If she tried, it would probably look more like an exorcism.

Xu Qing grabbed a bag of chips from a drawer and offered, “Want so chips?”

“Xiao Qing Qing, eating so many snacks—is your weight really not an issue?”

Xu Qing’s face darkened. “Fine, I’ll just eat them myself. Go ahead and keep pretending to be a corpse.”

“Hey, don’t be like that. I was just joking.”

Ling Ning quickly sat up and scooted closer to Xu Qing, flashing her an exaggeratedly cute expression. The sudden shift nearly gave Xu Qing whiplash.

“Even if you make such an obvious attempt to act cute, I’m not sharing!”

Undeterred, Ling Ning clung to Xu Qing’s arm, rubbing her cheek against it. “I know Xiao Qing Qing is the best, so co on, please~ I want…”

Ling Ning’s overly cutesy act delivered critical damage to Xu Qing’s resolve.

“Fine! Take it! You’re too old to act this childish,” Xu Qing grumbled, handing over the chips.
