“Uh… sorry. I think I might’ve bought a bit too much.”

Su Ya said awkwardly, letting out a nervous laugh. She glanced at the large number of bags in Ling Ning’s hands—all of which contained her purchases. She hadn’t managed to suppress her inner shopaholic and had ended up buying far more than intended.

Ling Ning gently shook her head. “It’s fine.”

She was used to it. In her past life, every shopping trip with Su Ya ended up like this. Truthfully, she had missed this feeling and found it oddly nostalgic.

Raising her head slightly, Ling Ning glanced at the sun hanging high in the sky. It was nearly noon—ti for lunch.

“Let’s find a place to sit for a while and grab so lunch.”

“Mm.” Su Ya nodded. After a whole morning of shopping, even she was starting to feel tired.

While there were plenty of restaurants nearby, Ling Ning wasn’t very familiar with this area. She randomly picked a restaurant that looked decent, and they walked in.

After sitting down, Ling Ning finally let out a sigh of relief. It had been a while since she’d felt this drained—almost as if her energy had been completely sapped.

“By the way, Ling Ning, you didn’t seem to buy anything?”

Su Ya remarked as she glanced at the bags. All of them contained her own items—none belonged to Ling Ning.

“Well~ I already have plenty of clothes~”

Ling Ning replied, thinking back to her wardrobe. Her large closet was overflowing; she could probably wear a different outfit every day for a year without repeating.

“Oh, right. You’re a model,” Su Ya said, rembering Ling Ning’s profession.

“So, what’s it like being a model? Is it hard?” Su Ya asked curiously. She’d always been fascinated by the modeling world, and now that she had the chance, she couldn’t resist asking.

“It’s not as glamorous as you might think,” Ling Ning replied with a wry smile. “When there’s work, it’s super busy; when there’s no work, it’s painfully boring. Things are better now since I can choose my jobs, but in the past, it was the other way around—the jobs chose .”

“Do you ever encounter… shady stuff? Like, uh… unspoken rules?” Su Ya asked hesitantly, quickly adding, “If it’s inconvenient to answer, that’s fine. I’m just curious.”

Ling Ning smiled lightly. “No, I’ve been fortunate.”

Having the backing of people like Qin Qing and Yang Bing ant she rarely faced any workplace misconduct.

“Let’s talk about this later. If we keep chatting, the waitress might get annoyed~”

Ling Ning said, nodding toward the server who had appeared at their table.

Ling Ning effortlessly ordered a selection of Su Ya’s favorite dishes. Realizing this Su Ya wasn’t quite the sa as her past-life Su Ya, she hesitated and asked, “Take a look at the nu—if there’s anything you’d like, order it. My treat!”

“No need! I’m not picky; I’ll eat anything~”

Ling Ning raised an eyebrow. Not picky? That was a joke. She knew Su Ya’s eating habits inside out and could na countless foods she disliked. Still, since Su Ya insisted, Ling Ning went ahead and completed the order. Everything she chose just happened to align perfectly with Su Ya’s preferences.

While waiting for the food, Ling Ning casually gathered more information about Su Ya.

Everything—her background, experiences—matched her past life, save for one thing: the addition of a boyfriend.

When the dishes arrived, Su Ya was montarily stunned. She had expected at least one thing she didn’t like, but every dish turned out to be her favorite. Could it be that Ling Ning’s tastes were the sa as hers?

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing. I just didn’t expect you to order all my favorites.”

“Call it fate~”

Su Ya blinked, then nodded slightly. She felt that she and Ling Ning shared an extraordinary connection. They liked the sa foods, could talk about any topic… it was almost too perfect.

She couldn’t help but wonder if they had been sisters or lovers in a past life, given how well they got along.

As Su Ya happily enjoyed her al, she noticed Ling Ning barely eating, instead watching her with that sa gentle gaze from earlier.

“Is sothing wrong? Why aren’t you eating?”

“I’m full already. Models have to watch their figures.”

“Really?” Su Ya blinked, her expression turning incredulous. If being a model ant giving up her favorite foods, she wasn’t sure she could handle it.

Suddenly, Ling Ning stood and leaned down toward Su Ya. Her beautiful face drew closer, leaving Su Ya frozen in place. She instinctively tried to back away, but Ling Ning stopped her.

“Hold still. There’s a grain of rice on your face.”

Su Ya felt the light touch of Ling Ning’s fingers against her cheek. She then watched in a daze as Ling Ning plucked the grain of rice and casually ate it.

“Sothing wrong?” Ling Ning asked, feigning ignorance.

“It’s nothing.”

The mory of Ling Ning’s bold action replayed in her mind, leaving her feeling flustered.

Noticing Su Ya’s sudden silence, Ling Ning wondered if she had pushed things too far. Still, since the mont had passed, she decided to change the subject.

“Do you have any plans for the afternoon?”

“Actually, I need to head back. Zeyu and I are going to see a movie. Sorry about that,” Su Ya replied apologetically.

Her boyfriend had called the previous night to set up their first official date. The thought filled her with excitent.

Forcing a smile, Ling Ning replied, “No problem. I’ll take you back to your dorm after lunch.”

“There’s no need to go out of your way.”

“It’s no trouble. Besides, I’m curious to see what the girls’ dorm looks like.”

“Well… okay, then.”

In a nearby boys’ dorm:

“Boss Xie, let’s hit the internet café this afternoon for so Overwatch!”

“Sorry, I’ve got plans with my girlfriend. How about tonight?”

“Oh, co on! Overwatch or your girlfriend—what’s more important? Let’s go already!”

“Fine, fine! Stop pulling—I’m coming!”
