“What a disgrace… I can’t believe I actually cried.”
Ling Ning sat dazedly on the sofa, staring blankly ahead. eting her past-life girlfriend again—she still couldn’t wrap her head around it. It felt surreal.
Absentmindedly, she pulled out her phone and stared at the newly added contact in her list. Only then did she feel reassured, though she had to resist the urge to call Su Ya imdiately. Ling Ning sighed, stood up, and returned to her bedroom. Maybe a nap would help calm her down.
Lying on her soft bed under the cool air of the air conditioner, she tossed and turned but couldn’t fall asleep. Her mind was too restless.
After a while, unable to stand it any longer, Ling Ning grabbed her phone again. Staring at Su Ya’s number, she hesitated briefly before typing out a ssage. Doing sothing felt better than doing nothing.
“Are you busy right now?”
Su Ya, who was tidying her dorm room, felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. When she checked it, she saw the ssage was from Ling Ning.
She’d been wondering how to strike up a conversation with Ling Ning, and here was her chance. Perfect timing.
One of her roommates teased, “Look at that excited face. Is your boyfriend texting you?”
“Don’t be ridiculous! It’s just a friend. I don’t have a boyfriend!” Su Ya rolled her eyes. Xie Zeyu wasn’t the type to send random ssages, and he was probably busy cleaning his own dorm right now.
“Don’t tell that handso guy who dropped you off isn’t your boyfriend?”
“Well… he’s still under consideration, so no!”
Su Ya retorted, glancing at Ling Ning’s ssage. Quickly, she typed out a reply.
“Nothing much, just cleaning the dorm. Are you done with your errands?”
“Yes, everything’s taken care of. I’m ho now.”
“Huh? Aren’t you staying in the dorms?” Su Ya replied, puzzled. She’d been planning to ask Ling Ning which dorm she was in so she could visit her after cleaning and maybe even have dinner together. Now, it seed that wouldn’t be possible.
Reading Su Ya’s ssage, Ling Ning could almost picture her slightly disappointed expression. Chuckling softly, Ling Ning abandoned her attempt to nap and got up. She grabbed a bag of snacks, settled on the sofa, and began chatting with Su Ya while munching and watching a food show on TV.
Back in the dorm, Su Ya’s roommate watched her abandon her cleaning duties to sit on the bed and chat. “Hey, Xiao Ya, are you cleaning or texting?”
“Ah! Sorry!”
“Forget it. The room’s pretty much clean anyway. I’ll finish up the rest,” the roommate said with a sigh.
“Thanks, Mantouka.”
“Hey, don’t call Mantouka! My na’s Lu Muyuan—use my real na!” Lu Muyuan protested. While her na wasn’t particularly unusual, it had taken on a different aning after a certain ani beca popular.
Su Ya giggled before returning to her conversation with Ling Ning. She was pleasantly surprised by how well they clicked. No matter what topic she brought up, Ling Ning seed to effortlessly match her energy. Was this what people called perfect chemistry?
Watching Su Ya’s dreamy smile, Lu Muyuan shook her head. If the ssages weren’t from Su Ya’s boyfriend, then they were definitely from a special “soone else.” Either way, Lu Muyuan wasn’t going to dwell on the troubles of people in relationships. As a perpetually single dog, she was better off minding her own business.
anwhile, Ling Ning grinned as she typed. She knew Su Ya’s likes and dislikes by heart, so responding to her ssages was effortless.
After chatting for a while and sensing Su Ya was getting more comfortable, Ling Ning’s expression turned serious. Her fingers flew across the keyboard as she crafted her next ssage.
“By the way, can I ask you sothing? How long have you been with your boyfriend? What stage is your relationship at? I’m thinking about dating in college and wanted to get so advice. If it’s too personal, feel free to ignore . I’m just curious.”
Su Ya blinked at the question, hesitating briefly before responding honestly: “I’m not officially dating Zeyu yet. He confessed to a few days ago, so we’re still in the ‘evaluation’ phase. Honestly, I don’t have much experience with relationships myself…”
Reading Su Ya’s reply, Ling Ning’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. Still in the evaluation phase? That made things much simpler. But even so, NTR wasn’t going to be easy. Ling Ning knew her girlfriend’s personality well—Su Ya’s steadfast nature made her an incredibly difficult target.
“Oh, I see. Hey, do you have ti tomorrow? Let’s go shopping together. You probably need to pick up so supplies for school, right?”
“Sure!”
Su Ya agreed without hesitation. Besides buying necessities, she could get Ling Ning’s opinion on clothes. As a professional model, Ling Ning’s fashion sense had to be better than hers.
While reading a book, Lu Muyuan glanced at Su Ya, who had suddenly burst into laughter. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.”
“By the way, want to join tonight to grab so supplies? That way you won’t have to shop for basics when you go out tomorrow.”
“Good idea!”
If she got her errands done tonight, tomorrow’s outing with Ling Ning could focus entirely on fun. Perfect!
Glancing at the still-empty beds in their dorm, Lu Muyuan remarked, “I wonder when our other two roommates will show up. Probably tomorrow at this rate.”
“Probably.”
Just as Su Ya was about to continue texting Ling Ning, her phone rang. It was a call from Xie Zeyu. Stepping onto the balcony, she answered.
“Xiao Ya, are you done cleaning?”
“Yep, all finished.”
“Great. Want to go shopping tomorrow?”
Xie Zeyu had planned to ask her out that evening but decided against it since his roommates had invited him out for dinner. Refusing again would’ve been rude.
Su Ya almost agreed, but then she rembered her plans with Ling Ning. Feeling slightly guilty, she said, “Sorry, I already have plans tomorrow. How about another day?”
“Who are you going with?”
“Ling Ning—the girl we t this afternoon. She invited to go shopping. You’re a guy, so don’t butt in.”
“Alright. Have fun.”
Hearing her response, Xie Zeyu felt a wave of relief. If Su Ya was spending the day with another girl, he had nothing to worry about.
