A few days passed quickly, and today was the day Ling Ning had to register at her university. She got up early, though she didn’t necessarily need to. Perhaps it was the thought of returning to the college campus that had kept her awake most of the previous night, and now, she was up bright and early.

Despite this, she didn’t feel the slightest bit sleepy, though there were faint dark circles under her eyes.

As for the docunts and items needed for registration, she had already prepared them the day before. After all, this wasn’t her first ti attending university, and the school had clearly outlined everything required. If she couldn’t even manage this, there would be no excuse.

With efficiency that could rival a perfect housewife, she got dressed, freshened up, and completed her makeup in one seamless flow.

On the way to the subway station, she stopped by her usual spot to buy two stead buns and a cup of soy milk. She finished them just as she reached the station. Boarding the crowded subway, Ling Ning finally heaved a sigh of relief.

Even on the subway, she didn’t idle. Taking out her phone, she dialed Luo Xiaoyu’s number. She’d ssaged Luo Xiaoyu a few days earlier, and Luo Xiaoyu had agreed to co along. Even if Luo Xiaoyu bailed on her, she could always ask Lin Xi—who was not only an upperclassman at the sa university but also a student there.

As for Ye Xuan, she was probably busy at this hour. It was better not to disturb her.

Still lying in bed, Luo Xiaoyu groaned when her phone started ringing. After tossing and turning for a bit, she finally gave in and answered the call, grumbling, “Who’s calling so early?”

Didn’t they know she was starting school soon, and her days of sleeping in were numbered? Interrupting her precious sleep at such a ti was absolutely unforgivable.

“Hey! Judging by your tone, you’re still not out of bed, are you?”

Luo Xiaoyu froze for a mont at the familiar voice. It was Ling Ning! Why on earth was she calling so early?

“What do you want?” Luo Xiaoyu replied weakly.

“You… you didn’t forget what you promised a few days ago, did you?”

“Promised you?” Luo Xiaoyu frowned slightly, trying to jog her groggy mory. After a mont, it hit her—she had promised to accompany Ling Ning to her university registration.

“Oh, right. But do we really need to be there so early? It’s not like we’re in a rush,” Luo Xiaoyu said nonchalantly.

Ling Ning went silent for a mont. “I’m almost at the school now. If you don’t co, I might just accidentally tell your mom about your little ‘life experience’ at the maid café.”

“You… That’s so despicable! How can you threaten with sothing like that? Don’t you feel any guilt?”

“Not only do I not feel guilty, but I’m quite pleased with myself. Alright, I’m at my stop now. See you soon!”

As the call ended, Luo Xiaoyu stared blankly at her phone. For a mont, she imagined locking Ling Ning in a basent and… doing this and that to her until she regretted her behavior.

Fantasies aside, she still had to get out of bed. There was no sleeping in now, not with the current situation.

In record ti, she got dressed, washed up, and grabbed her bag before heading out. On the way, she sent a ssage to her mom, letting her know she was accompanying Ling Ning to registration.

“You’re so slow~”

Panting heavily, Luo Xiaoyu glared at Ling Ning. She’d rushed over as fast as she could, to the point her hair was ssy. When had she ever been this disheveled? It was all this annoying brat’s fault.

“Why don’t you just drop dead?”

Ling Ning smiled faintly, unbothered by Luo Xiaoyu’s sharp words. Turning her gaze to the bustling crowd and the passing vehicles, she remarked, “Wow, there are so many people registering today.”

Luo Xiaoyu glanced around. “It’s not that surprising. It’s the first day of registration, after all. A big crowd is to be expected. By the way, don’t you live nearby? Why didn’t you wait until the last day to register? It’d be much less crowded.”

“What’s your major?” Luo Xiaoyu asked, changing the topic.

“Administrative managent.”

Luo Xiaoyu blinked, surprised. “Why would you choose that major?”

“Well~” Ling Ning replied with a mysterious smile, offering no explanation. She couldn’t exactly say it was the sa major she’d studied in her past life. The real reason she chose it again was that it was relatively easy—it was sothing she’d already studied before, and she didn’t plan to rely on it to make a living.

Besides, administrative managent had a narrow career path, and the coursework was varied and required patience. It tended to attract more female students. Thinking back to the number of girls in her past-life classes...

“Well, I guess we’re in the sa departnt now. You better respect your senior, got it? If you want to look out for you, stop threatening your senior all the ti, okay?” Luo Xiaoyu said in a mock authoritative tone.

“Sure~”

The two chatted as they entered the campus. Even with Luo Xiaoyu guiding her, Ling Ning still ended up waiting in long lines to complete the registration process. The sheer number of people ahead of her was overwhelming.

During this ti, several male seniors tried to strike up conversations with Ling Ning, but Luo Xiaoyu swiftly sent them packing. This reminded Ling Ning of an old saying: “Guard against fire, theft, and senior boys.”

When they reached the dormitory registration desk, Luo Xiaoyu noticed that Ling Ning wasn’t opting to live on campus. Puzzled, she asked, “You’re not staying in the dorms?”

“No. I have a daughter at ho… cough, I an, a younger sister I need to take care of.”

“What about your parents?”

“They passed away in an accident when I was little.”

Luo Xiaoyu opened her mouth to respond but didn’t know what to say. After a pause, she finally muttered softly, “I’m sorry.”

Ling Ning chuckled lightly. “It’s fine. It’s been a long ti.”

After completing the registration process, Luo Xiaoyu showed Ling Ning around the campus. Perhaps it was because she’d just learned about Ling Ning’s family situation, but Luo Xiaoyu’s explanations were unusually thorough.

hen they ca to a small path, Ling Ning pointed at it curiously. “Wait a second. You haven’t introduced to this area yet~”

Luo Xiaoyu blinked, hesitating. Then she stamred, “That… that path leads to the campus woods. It’s not a place people usually go. You don’t need to worry about it.”

“Huh? But we’ve already walked past it. Let’s check it out. At least there’s no sun there, right?” Ling Ning said, heading toward the path.

Luo Xiaoyu sighed helplessly and followed. No way she was leaving Ling Ning to wander off alone.
