“Oh wow, isn’t this a figure of Hizuki Ichinose, the heroine from Electric Wave Vanishes, Whodunit with the Okinawa Lolita Clan? Such a healing masterpiece. I can’t even count how many tis I’ve watched it! The storyline is truly heartwarming,” Zhou Xiaoxiao said excitedly as she stopped at a vendor’s booth.
Ling Ning froze at Zhou Xiaoxiao’s words. She couldn’t decide where to even start poking holes in Zhou Xiaoxiao’s over-the-top statent.
“Oh wow, isn’t that Archer Li Yunlong from Fate Grand Order: Unsheath the Sword? This limited-edition Italian cannon figure—I've wanted this for ages! I can’t believe it’s here, and it’s official!” Zhou Xiaoxiao continued.
“ow... ow?” Ling Ning stared at Zhou Xiaoxiao in confusion, feeling her knowledge of this world’s “ani culture” was alarmingly lacking.
Noticing Ling Ning’s blank expression, Zhou Xiaoxiao asked curiously, “Ling Ning, aren’t you going to buy anything? The rch quality is really high at this convention~”
Ling Ning shook her head. She had zero interest in these kinds of collectibles. Plus, her ho was small, and displaying all these items would just clutter the place. Most importantly, spending money on items with no practical use felt like a waste to her.
“Mom, Mom, I want this one!” her daughter’s voice called out.
Turning around, Ling Ning saw her daughter gazing longingly at a figure displayed on a nearby booth. Ling Ning walked over to take a look.
“Magical Girl Xiao Ai, 10th Anniversary Edition?” she read aloud. Glancing at the price—3,000 yuan—her heart ached a little. But since it was sothing her daughter wanted, she felt compelled to get it for her.
“Excuse , I’ll take this one, please,” Ling Ning said with a relieved smile, feeling no guilt about spending on her daughter.
“Yay! Mom is the best!” Ling Ye cheered and imdiately planted a slobbery kiss on her mom’s cheek.
“I told you, no slobbering all over my face,” Ling Ning laughed, wiping her cheek. Whatever her daughter wanted, as long as it was within her power, she’d make it happen. Spoiling her daughter was sothing she had no regrets about. Who else would she spoil if not her only daughter?
Bai Yiyue watched this scene, feeling a twinge of envy. Even though she knew Ling Ning’s love was directed toward her daughter, she wished Ling Ning would give her a gift like that too. It had been over a decade since Ling Ning last gave her anything.
Wanting a gift, she decided to simply ask, as direct as she was with her feelings for Ling Ning. However, before she could say anything, a teddy bear appeared in front of her.
“Here, this is for you. I think it’s been over ten years since I last gave you anything,” Ling Ning said.
“Ling Ning... does this an you rember what happened when we were kids?” Bai Yiyue asked, her face filled with hope.
Ling Ning shook her head. “Not yet. I just rembered what you told last ti.”
With Ling Ning’s explanation, Bai Yiyue suddenly recalled that she had ntioned their childhood mories during her visit to Ling Ning’s place. Even if Ling Ning hadn’t regained her mories, receiving a gift from her after all these years made Bai Yiyue’s heart swell with joy.
Ling Ning observed Bai Yiyue’s blissful expression and chuckled to herself. It was just a teddy bear, but Bai Yiyue treated it like a precious treasure.
“Hey, Ling Ning, it looks like there’s a raffle over there!” Zhou Xiaoxiao pointed excitedly.
The mont she heard “raffle,” Ling Ning’s eyes lit up, and she eagerly followed Zhou Xiaoxiao to the booth. This raffle was organized by the convention staff; every attendee received a ticket with their entry pass, and each ticket was eligible for a prize. There wasn’t a grand prize, though—just ani rchandise and lots of “Thanks for Playing” tickets.
Since Chu ngyao and Luo Xiaoning had left for so alone ti after lunch, their group now had five tickets, aning they could each draw once.
“Ling Ning, we’re counting on you for this raffle!” Zhou Xiaoxiao said, handing her ticket to Ling Ning with an earnest look. The others did the sa, trusting Ling Ning’s luck to bring them good prizes.
Ling Ning glanced at the tickets in her hand, suddenly feeling the weight of responsibility. Luck wasn’t sothing she could control—who knew if today was her lucky day?
Taking a deep breath, Ling Ning scratched off each ticket, hoping that at least four out of five would be winners.

“Wow, Ling Ning, you’re amazing! You won five figures with five tickets!” Zhou Xiaoxiao cheered, holding her desired figure with a huge grin. It seed clear to her now—if there was ever another raffle, Ling Ning had to be the one to handle it.
Ling Ning shrugged, still unsure why her luck was so good. She began to wonder if she should try her hand at the lottery or stocks—maybe she could secure a future of financial freedom.
But that thought was fleeting. In her opinion, making money should be grounded in reality, not in unreliable thods.
“Mom, Mom, why are they selling these things at a convention?”
Following her daughter’s gaze, Ling Ning spotted a large booth filled with a bizarre assortnt of items—various painted vices, water pumps, and even a large slter on display.
From afar, the booth looked more like a factory exhibit than part of an ani convention.
To her surprise, the booth was bustling with activity, and a line had even ford to buy vices. Ling Ning couldn’t understand the logic—were people seriously buying vices to take ho? What on earth were they planning to do with them?
Looking up at the booth’s sign, she read, Type Moon Heavy Industries. Sothing about the na struck her as oddly nacing.
“Mom, I need to use the restroom,” Ling Ye said, tugging at her mother’s skirt again.
“Alright, let’s go,” Ling Ning replied, taking her daughter by the hand. With the massive crowds at the convention, she would never let her daughter wander off alone.
