Chapter 1989: Chapter 1983: God and Saintess
“Immortal Lin” Su Susu, the female pope of Lin Nu’s Pastoralists Church…. naturally rose to power as the Saintess after the previous pope fled.
Or perhaps, she was forced to ascend.
“Do I have a choice?”
Su Susu sighed, her face weary.
At this mont, she was in a three-star hotel in the ancient city.
The forr grandeur had vanished; she now looked like an ordinary middle-aged woman…. She had been the primary target all along and paid a price to completely shed surveillance.
She was not soone who cared about appearance; otherwise, she wouldn’t have interacted with people with such an average face. But this ti, when buying vegetables in the market, being called “old lady” and disdained by young people, she really couldn’t take it.
“This body even has severe body odor!”
To the forr Saintess, the “body” wasn’t that significant, and changing it wasn’t too difficult…
“Why not choose a younger body.”
“Middle-aged won are the least scrutinized, even among intelligence personnel, who generally perceive them as harmless…. On your way here, those street inspectors didn’t seriously check you, did they?”
The local spy and liaison officer said sothing rather hurtful.
Su Susu sighed, not rely because of this uncomfortable shell…. She sensed the liaison’s perfunctory manner, and at their level, appearances and the naked eye barely mattered anymore.
After all, it’s just that such “shells” are cheaper on the black market.
But she didn’t act up…. Lin Nu’s forces had been suppressed for several years, and these “undercover spies” planted in various regions might have long been cut off from supply.
Even now, providing help might be just like being excessively tied to a deity…
“Aren’t I the sa?”
She opened the blinds, looking at the bustling street outside the building, even in the middle of the night, Saintess Su sighed once more… then left the window with a face full of disgust.
The reflection in the glass window irritated her…. Such transformation ca at a cost, and the once-high Saintess might be stuck in this body for quite so ti.
“Ugh, body odor… and the sll of the wig, nail polish….. so low quality.”
Sotis, overly sensitive senses are not a good thing, and for the sake of safety, she probably couldn’t make any changes to this body.
“He’s here.”
The next mont, the liaison’s voice lifted her spirits.
Choosing this hotel might have been for this mont.
“He’s here…”
This place was across from the Special Service Team Three’s base, and also a frequent haunt of Lu Ping’an.
That man’s movents were quite free, but certain areas he wouldn’t avoid…. It wasn’t because he was worried about local security but purposefully ca over to work overti.
“Really just like in the data, starting right away at the roadside barbecue stand… in this aspect, he is a bit like It; My Lord wasn’t that pretentious either.”
Lu Ping’an’s frequent presence was rely because it used to be his workplace, and it was his familiar snack street.
n sotis have a bad habit; if they find sothing decent to eat, they’re too lazy to seek new places…. Hence, these roadside stalls beca Lu Ping’an’s rare fixed refresh points.
Su Susu was lucky enough to wait for her target on her first day of stakeout.
At this mont, she took a deep breath and pulled out a bronze mirror, gently extending it towards the window.
This was not a curse tool, just an ordinary mirror…. She simply didn’t intend to “look directly at a god.”
The mirror steadily reflected the “young man,” the kid happily gnawing on skewers beside the “big sister.”
Except for the silver in his eyes, he seed no different from an ordinary person, without even the subtle disharmony of a professional….
“Is this the Master of Eternal Life….”
Su Susu had actually seen Lu Ping’an more than once, and even back then, investigating Chris was her job. If Lu Ping’an hadn’t coincidentally been hiding in the Secret Realm, avoiding her pursuit, perhaps he wouldn’t have existed.
The several etings afterward only maintained superficial peace….. That serious failure in the search, along with Lu Ping’an’s rise, beca a huge black mark in her resu.
The Legitimate Line of Lin Nu’s Church is genuine jungleism; if not for a high-level Spiritualized Saintess being too important, she might have been kicked aside, never to be employed again.
Subsequent etings representing Lin Nu and Lu Ping’an, naturally, weren’t pleasant.
However, the ridiculous rapid growth of that man left a deep impression on her…. After all, seeing soone who was a small fry years ago transform annually—from needing to look up to them to needing to be looked up by them….
“He’s even younger.”
This youthful appearance made Su Susu all the more wary.
As a professional divine position holder, she knew too many secrets of the deities.
Mighty deities, in a sense, are already a phenonon, a concept; their appearance is often their self-cognition… This excessively young appearance might suggest that Lu Ping’an had never changed from the start, or at least, he hadn’t perceived the marks ti left on him.
She silently put away the mirror, not because she didn’t want to see but observing deity-level existence itself is extrely dangerous, especially with malicious intent.
The image captured at that mont in the mirror was enough; she could reconstruct his “model” in her mind and prepare accordingly.
Curse-kill? Terrorist activity? Su Susu was also a bit helpless; even as an eighth-tier legendary top player herself, there was very little she could do to a true god.
“Little Susu.”
And at this mont, the deity took the initiative to contact her…. Lin Nu’s will had descended without notice, that voice as youthful and cheerful as an elf, ringing in her ears.
However, Su Susu felt a kind of fear and even nausea.
As the Saintess, as the bearer of the deity’s will, she probably understood Lin Nu’s essence the best.
Don’t be fooled by Its seemingly youthful and girlish ssenger and avatar…. its intrinsic nature is a logic machine devoid of emotion! It rely wore a mask of fabricated personality…..
“No, no, no, I’m severely oppressed, and because of that, I’ve weakened significantly, yet regained personality and humanity.”
Having her mind read was no surprise….. to Lin Nu, the Saintess was rely a useful tool, and would It care about the tool’s feelings?
Regained emotions? Not a single word did Su Susu believe; her god had never had compassion or moral bottom lines, accepting any lie and tricks as long as it served Its interests.
However, before, there was no need to act, and now, perhaps in Its logical assessnt, fabricating to possess humanity might make its subordinates more loyal.
“Little Susu, go see Lu Ping’an, talk to him face to face…”
And at this mont, the cold deity uttered an order akin to sending a believer to die.
A saintess, a potential ticking bomb bearing hostile deity force and will, would the opponent ignore it… perhaps detonating upon eting would be the optimal usage.
The Saintess paused briefly, finally sighed.
She was too deeply tied to the deity, having no choice.
But as she sprung into action, everything got disrupted.
“Little Susu? Such a cute nickna.”
And outside the room whose door sohow opened, a boy with a gentle smile softly knocked the door, flaunting his presence.
“Lu… Master of Eternal Life.”
At this mont, “Immortal Lin” Su Susu, with her teeth trembling, realized she might not be as brave as she thought; she still wanted to live.
But now, caught between two gods, life and death were likely beyond her control.
