840: Story 840: Nest of the Damned 840: Story 840: Nest of the Damned The crawlspace was narrow, suffocating.

Every breath Evelyn took felt thick with dust and decay.

The Alpha’s growls still rumbled from behind the collapsed grate, but it couldn’t reach them.

Not yet.

Reaper led the way, his broad shoulders barely squeezing through the tunnel.

Mia followed behind Evelyn, pistol clutched in her trembling hands.

Then, the sll hit them.

It was worse than death—a mixture of rotting at, bile, and sothing chemical.

Evelyn gagged, covering her nose.

Reaper muttered, “I got a bad feeling about this.”

The tunnel widened into a cavernous space.

Evelyn’s eyes adjusted—and she wished they hadn’t.

The walls pulsed.

Flesh-like tendrils clung to the concrete, throbbing in rhythmic convulsions.

Egg-like sacs hung from the ceiling, twitching.

The Devourer had made this place its nest.

Mia whispered, “Jesus… what is this?”

Reaper stepped forward, boots squelching in the mire of organic sludge.

His flashlight flickered over a pile of bones—human, stripped clean.

“Keep your voice down,” he said.

“We’re not alone.”

A low, wet clicking echoed from the shadows.

Evelyn turned just as one of the sacs split open.

Sothing dropped to the floor.

At first, it was a shapeless mass of flesh.

Then, it twitched.

It unfolded.

A newborn horror.

Its head was bulbous, skin translucent.

A skeletal fra twitched beneath raw muscle, its jaw too wide, its fingers too long.

It opened its mouth.

And scread.

The nest erupted.

The hanging sacs burst, spilling half-ford creatures onto the ground.

They twitched, convulsed—then crawled toward them.

“Move!” Reaper bellowed, unloading his shotgun.

The blast tore through the newborns, but more were spilling from the walls.

Evelyn sprinted toward an opening ahead.

“Go, go!”

Mia fired wildly as she ran, her bullets shredding through the twitching masses.

Reaper brought up the rear, his shotgun booming with every step.

Then—sothing massive shifted in the dark.

A mother.

The Matriarch.

It rose from the sludge, towering over them.

Its torso was stitched together from corpses, its limbs fused into an unholy mass of writhing flesh.

A second jaw jutted from its throat, dripping with bile.

Evelyn froze.

The Matriarch’s sunken eyes snapped to her.

It charged.

Reaper tackled Evelyn aside just as the monster’s claw slamd down.

The impact cracked the floor, sending debris flying.

Mia scread, unloading her magazine into the beast’s skull.

It barely flinched.

Reaper grabbed Evelyn.

“We can’t fight this.

Keep running!”

They dove into a maintenance tunnel, sprinting through the filth.

Behind them, the Matriarch roared, its screech shaking the walls.

But they didn’t stop.

They couldn’t.

Not when they had just witnessed the future of the infection.
