With the golden key in hand, Damien and Mira set their sights on the Southern Citadel. The stories they'd heard painted it as a stronghold of both resources and ancient knowledge, but also a place haunted by strange apparitions. As they approached the towering fortress, its walls covered in ivy and shadowed by dark clouds, Damien felt a chill run down his spine.

The heavy gates groaned as they pushed them open, revealing a desolate courtyard littered with broken weapons and decayed bodies. Silence filled the air, save for the faint hum of wind whipping through empty towers. Mira clutched her amulet, its light faint but steady. "This place…it's heavy with sorrow. I can feel it."

Damien nodded, his gaze scanning the abandoned structures. "The people here didn't just leave. They fought to the last breath."

They moved cautiously, their footsteps echoing through the empty corridors. As they ascended a winding staircase, they encountered strange symbols etched into the walls, along with paintings depicting scenes of an earlier ti—a ti when the Citadel was a bustling hub of life.

But one painting caught Damien's eye: a shadowy figure crowned in fire, seated on a throne amidst kneeling, faceless figures.

"The Zombie King," Mira whispered. "He must have taken this place."

Suddenly, the room grew colder, and whispers filled the air. Shadows began to pool, forming vague shapes—figures trapped between worlds. Damien raised his weapon, ready for another fight, but Mira placed a hand on his arm. "Wait…they're mories, not monsters."

As they watched, the shadows replayed a scene: defenders of the Citadel fighting against overwhelming odds, eventually falling under the might of the Zombie King. A young girl, the last survivor, held a small book close to her heart as she hid in the corner, her eyes filled with terror.

"She's protecting sothing," Mira murmured, stepping closer. "We need to find that book. It could hold the secrets of the Citadel."

The shadows faded, and as if guided by so unseen force, they followed a narrow hallway to a hidden chamber. Inside, they found a small book bound in worn leather, tucked beneath a pile of dusty blankets. Mira opened it, revealing detailed maps, notes, and sketches—records of an underground network leading from the Citadel to the outskirts of the city.

"This is it," she said, her voice filled with awe. "It's a way out, a route the survivors used to escape."

Damien glanced at her, a glint of determination in his eyes. "Then let's make sure we honor their fight. We'll clear the way and make it safe for anyone still out there."

They turned back, the Citadel now more than just a haunting mory. It was a symbol of resilience and a path toward a safer future. With the book and the key in hand, Damien and Mira descended into the underground network, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

For the first ti, they weren't just surviving—they were carving a path forward, one that promised more than just survival: it offered the hope of a new beginning.
