" Mother.." He whimpered not knowing how to reply to her absurd question. By now most of the people in the restaurant knew about his arrival.
He wasn't just loved by his parents but staff mbers too. He had helped them at the kitchen and even served dishes when they were short on man power and overall always acted friendly with everyone.
But Samuel didn't mind these people, when he saw Penny, Adele's mother also among those people he just wanted to dig a hole and disappear!
Penny had worked here for many years and he was he one that introduced her to Carol. Both woman instantly clicked and were very good friends, even best friends so he didn't know what she would say hearing him talk about him and Adele's relationship.
It was sort of established that she would stay out of it as Adele was adamant in following her heart. As a mother, Penny only wanted to see Adele happy and soone who would be there for her throughout her life.
But it must be hard for her to accept he was also seeing other people and her daughter was also fine with it. Fortunately, she had known Iblis for many years and knew how close both her girls and she was.
Her only fear was their social standing. Iblis was sort of a princess from prominent Hanson family but their family was dirt poor and even if Adele worked hard and achieved a lot, it was reality that she wouldn't be able to match Hanson so there was a possibility of her getting bullied of there was sothing weong with Adele and Iblis's friendship.
It was just a concern and so far there were no signs of it but a mother had to worry, that's her job when it ca to her offsprings!
" Why are you bringing this up? We have a great relationship." He said after composing himself.
With so many onlookers, he didn't want to air out his dirty laundry giving them more topics to gossip about but it seed like Carol was hell bent on interrogating him today.
" Are you sure? Last ti we visited...we saw sothing different. I am sure the girls wouldn't say anything to us because they would be embarrassed but if there is sothing wrong, you can tell us. We will try our best to help you...nd the relationship." Carol comnted.
That's when it clicked for him that during their last visit when they ca to see his ho, they t other girls, Kate was there and maybe they also suspect Nicole. He did downplay the situation at that ti telling them he would tell them about it but he never did clarify it.
Adele and Iblis might have t up with them after that but they must have decided it was best to leave it to their man as it was literally his fault, right?
" Carol, wait." Aaron fortunately saw his discomfort and saw practically every staff mber was peeking at them perking up their ear to eavesdrop.
" Didn't you guys have work to do? We will be open in an hour! Just go and do the prep work, I will be there shortly." Aaron discouraged them as they left with dejected expression. The conversation was just getting spicy!
He also caleed Penny to sit with them. It wasn't right for them to discuss about Adele and exclude her after all they were doing it not just for their son but for her too.
She might not be a mber of the family but they had known Adele and Iblis for as ling as they known Samuel so it was only right they saw them as their own daughters.
With the peanut gallery sent away, Samuel was faced with the dilemma of how to tell them about how weird his personal life was.
" As I said, there is nothing wrong between us. I saw Adele yesterday while I talked with Iblis just this morning. It might sound strange but they are in on it too." He said while facing away from them.
" You an..you have other.." Penny was in disbelief. It was her first ti hearing about it.
" I can't go into details but just rember, I am not pushing them away or taking anything from them. These things are a lot complicated but I can assure you that I never lie to any of them."
" But it's not healthy. I never said anything because I know how good Adele and Iblis are together but bringing others into it...I don't think it's a good idea." Carol said in a serious tone. She hated to be harsh with him but as his elder, she thought she needed to make him understand more was not always better and could lead him to lose everything and everyone.
Samuel could only smile bitterly. How could he ever tell her that he had magic power and a title that let's him do just that no to ntion the fate intervening to make sure he got together with these people no matter the case. If probability of such a scenario was calculated, he was sure it would put lottery odds to sha!
" I know what you guys are worried about but I promise if it ever ca to it, I will never let anything hurt them. I care about them as much as anyone else and would break my heart to see them hurt. I am sure it would be hard for to make you understand how everything works but I promise we are doing good." Samuel said as plainly as he could.
There was no way, he would give out more details. If they knew how many there were, they would surely pass out from shock. It would be much easier for them to understand it as they see their relationship grow over ti.
It's only been more than a year since they got intimately involved which was too short in his eyes.
" Please, Just rember you promise. She would never tell anything and I don't want her to revert back into the quiet girl who always think the world was against her and no one cares about her." Penny said one last thing knowing no matter what she didn't she would never be able to change her daughter's mind.
She was too far in love with Samuel but she only wanted to be there for her and act as a beacon so that Adele didn't do anything stupid. The scene of her being bullied andnnot telling her about it was still fresh in her mind.
Samuel was the one who rescued her and gave her hope for the better future and she would always be grateful for it but she wouldn't let anyone even him hurt her daughter ever again. She might not have anything but a mother's wrath was not sothing to be trifled with.
" I promise. If I break the promise, you can enact any punishnt that you see fit for my cri." With that three of them stopped talking about the issue and moved on to his day to day life.
