Daisy Ginger almost always agrees to whatever Erin Ginger asks of her, without exception.

For so many years, she’s been acutely aware of her debt to him, always compliant and accommodating.

But this ti, Daisy’s expression turned cold almost instantly.

"Get so good sleep, and stop letting your mind wander to ridiculous things!"

Daisy’s voice was almost icy. She shook off Erin’s hand, expressionless, and left his bedroom, leaving Erin with a small look of surprise on the bed.

"..."

Quietly retracting his gaze, Erin turned sideways, lifting his eyes to gaze out at the clear full moon outside the window.

This night was destined to be one of sleeplessness.

Returning to her room afterwards, Daisy was kept awake by the burning anger she couldn’t suppress within herself.

She just couldn’t understand what she had done wrong for Erin Ginger to be so wrapped up after eting Edward Stephens just a few tis.

That man, who four years ago abandoned both mother and son, fell for another woman, desperately demanding to marry her—how much courage did she muster to go confront him then, only to flee in despair?

She would never forget the cruel words he used to force her out.

Even now, he might rember and even realize his mistake, but she couldn’t possibly forget all the past hurts instantly, pretending that nothing happened and agreeing to see him.

What good would it do to see him now?

He wouldn’t live much longer anyway...

She knew the survival rate for a recurring case of leukemia was extrely low, even if she took little Erin to visit him...

He wouldn’t be able to provide many lasting mories.

Since he did nothing for him in the past eight years, why should she indulge this fleeting father-son sentint in the end?

Death would co easily to him, he’d just leave, saying "I had no choice," just like when he lost his mory four years ago. Anyway, none of this was his fault, it never involved him, he was always the innocent party.

The ones hurt by him...it was their own misfortune.

The more Daisy thought about it, the angrier she beca, waking the next day with panda eyes.

Ryan Smith, having returned from sowhere unknown, looked like he had a good sleep. Seeing Daisy’s dark under-eye circles, he was sipping milk by the fridge when—"Pfft!"—he sprayed it out.

"Were you out stealing last night?"

"..." Daisy looked at the milk stains on the floor with so disdain, wrinkled her brows, and surprisingly paid him no mind, not uttering a word as she headed directly into the dining room.

Ryan looked a bit perplexed at Daisy’s departing figure; he expected her to scold him a few tis, but she simply walked away?

Not being teased sarcastically, it felt oddly unsettling...

After a while, little Erin was brought downstairs by the nanny.

As Ryan sneaked in for a breakfast snack, he subtly sensed the peculiar tension between the mother and son today.

Daisy’s expression was colder than ever, unmoved even as Erin sat across from her.

If anything, it was intimidating.

Cautiously pilfering a few stead buns, Ryan quickly fled the scene. Once Daisy finished her al, he sneaked back, seated across from Erin gingerly asking: "Erin, what’s wrong with your mom? Is she on her period?"

Little Erin, head down, was drinking porridge without looking at Ryan, murmuring softly: "I upset Mommy."
