Charlotte Smith’s gaze slowly moved until it landed on the boy standing by Daisy Ginger, who was about the sa age as George Stephens.

Daisy Ginger could feel it; there was a montary look of astonishnt in her eyes.

Quickly, she averted her gaze and said to Lady Stephens, "Auntie, sorry to trouble you with George today. I’m taking him ho now."

Her voice was just as soft and delicate as before, gentle and fragile, like she could break at any mont.

If Daisy Ginger didn’t know with what kind of bold courage she had once manipulated everyone, she might have believed Charlotte Smith was—as Edward Stephens said—a puppet used by Robert Stephens to vent his frustrations.

Lady Stephens, for so reason, looked slightly embarrassed and didn’t walk over, just nodded and said, "Alright, be careful on the way."

Charlotte Smith obediently responded, lowered her head in silence, and started to take George Stephens by the hand.

She gave George a tug, but he didn’t move, so she looked down at him and asked, "What’s wrong?"

George Stephens looked up, "Mom, do you have any money with you?"

"What do you need money for?"

"I owe soone a lot of money." George lowered his head, looking distressed, "I have to repay it by tomorrow. I wanted to borrow so from you first."

"..." Charlotte Smith was left speechless by his words. She glanced at Lady Stephens, seemingly also bewildered by what George had said, unable to grasp his aning right away.

Thankfully, she had brought so cash with her. She quickly regained her composure, crouching down to look at George. "Who do you owe money to? How much?"

"Seven hundred and fifty thousand."

Charlotte was montarily stunned, "Hmm?"

George looked up, eagerly gazing at Charlotte, "Mom, do you have seven hundred and fifty thousand in cash with you? I want to pay it back now; I don’t want to owe soone a favor."

Such a young age, yet with quite the self-esteem.

Daisy Ginger listened from the side, muttering to herself in her mind.

Charlotte frowned, "What did you do wrong?"

She was aware of her son’s temper. Due to being raised by Robert Stephens, no one in the family dared to cross him, coupled with Lady Stephens’ indulgence, George was a little tyrant running rampant within the Stephens family.

She always wanted to correct his behavior. Honestly, she couldn’t figure out whom George inherited this personality from.

Unfortunately, whenever she scolded George, he would run off to Robert to complain. Though Robert never said anything, he would always find opportunities to send her away from Chicago, sotis on business trips lasting ten days to half a month.

How could she have any chance to educate her child then?

George lowered his head, muttering softly, "I accidentally ruined soone’s painting."

Upon hearing this, Charlotte noticed the shredded drawings on the ground.

She looked up at Lady Stephens, who silently handed her a tablet and indicated she should read the ssages on it.

While Charlotte was understanding the situation, George kept his head down, silent.

After a while, Charlotte finally stood up from the ground.

She told George, "Mom only has two thousand in her wallet, not seven hundred and fifty thousand."

George’s small face imdiately fell.

It seed that he would indeed have to run up a tab.

"Did you apologize for damaging soone else’s property?"

"I apologized!"

"Is apologizing enough?"

"I..."

"You owe soone money, why should I help you repay it?"

George looked up in surprise, blinking his eyes. For a mont, he said nothing.

"Not every ti you cause trouble will there be soone to clean up for you," Charlotte said coldly, "The money you owe, you repay yourself."
