Three months later.
Tsing City Airport.
Erin Ginger held Jas Shelton’s hand and walked out from the crowd.
Amidst the throng of people, he spotted Daisy Ginger waiting at the airport entrance at a glance.
Without a word, Erin broke free from Jas’s hand, ran towards Daisy, and then held Daisy’s hand.
Jas: "......"
Watching Daisy smile and bend down to pick up Erin, the mother and son shared a sweet, affectionate head bump, leaving Jas, who was handling the luggage alone, with a certain sense of lancholy...
After three months apart, Erin was noticeably tanner, and his previously frail body seed sturdier, radiating a sunny deanor.
Although his little face remained clear and cool, with no surplus of expressions.
It was already autumn, and the sunlight in Tsing City carried a hint of chill in its scent, but returning to familiar territory, Jas’s face still bore a joyful expression.
"That sumr camp nearly killed , with horseback riding and rafting, my old bones were almost dismantled by those coaches! The sun was so fierce, I applied a whole bottle of sunscreen daily, yet my skin still peeled off, look, I even got sunspots!"
All the way, Jas incessantly complained about how harsh and inhumane the sumr camp Daisy had signed them up for was.
Daisy looked at the two newly tanned faces, large and small, and smiled silently.
Jas, the idle rich second generation, had never suffered before; after being vigorously trained by the coaches, he not only got a shade darker, but the contours of his muscles were also shaped.
"Actually, you look quite handso with a tan."
Daisy said.
"...Really?" Jas stopped complaining, took out his phone to look at himself, touched his chin, and started assessing his appearance, "To be honest, maybe I do have a bit of a manly vibe, right?"
Daisy finally burst into laughter.
*
Upon returning to the Shelton family, Daisy first went to greet Elder Shelton, then accompanied Erin to adjust to the ti difference.
Once the child fell asleep, she stepped out of the room.
Jas was standing in the corridor, and upon seeing her, he nodded at her.
No sooner did Daisy have sothing she needed to discuss with him, so she walked over.
In Jas’s bedroom, Daisy smiled, "What’s the matter?"
The man’s room was decorated modestly, in black and white tones, which didn’t quite align with Jas’s flamboyant personality.
She rarely stayed here, and even when she did, she wouldn’t stay in his room. After three years of marriage, it was the first ti she had been in Jas’s bedroom.
Having renovated rooms herself, she knew that a person’s bedroom décor often represented their aesthetic taste, and in this light, Jas’s aesthetic seed entirely contrary to his external deanor.
"Are you finished with your matters?"
The man closed the door, looking down at her.
"I wouldn’t say completely finished..." Daisy smiled, "But you might say things have co to a conclusion."
Jas nodded, looking at Daisy’s noticeably slimr figure. The cal-colored trench coat draped over her slender shoulders looked empty; she had beco much thinner compared to before he left.
She must have been through a lot of things, many things he was unaware of, probably related to that man.
A past he couldn’t, and had no right to, inquire about...
Jas sighed gently, comforting her: "It’s good it’s over. To be honest, when you urgently asked to take Erin abroad, it scared . I almost thought there was so life-threatening event..."
Daisy nodded with a smile: "You were spot on."
"Ah?" Jas widened his eyes in shock.
Seeing his surprised expression, Daisy continued, "Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been a need to ask you to take Erin abroad to hide. But that’s all in the past now. Jas, there’s sothing I need to tell you."
Jas observed her gradually serious expression, sensing sothing, and suddenly raised a hand to pause her, "Wait a second! Let smoke a cigarette first before you continue!"
Saying so, he really did pull out a cigarette from his pocket, walked to the window, lit it, and frowned, taking slow, deliberate puffs.
Seeing this, Daisy felt a bit amused and walked over, "What are you doing? Do you know what I’m about to say?"
Jas, being honest, replied: "Not clearly, but I can guess."
Daisy slowly withdrew her smile, watching Jas’s frowning deanor, and sighed lightly.
"Jas, thank you for all these years."
"..."
"Without you, Erin wouldn’t have grown up so healthily. You are a good father."
Jas frowned, looking at her, "Thank what? Didn’t you help establish the company? In reality, I’m the one who should be thanking you. If it weren’t for you, I would’ve been forced by the elder to marry so woman I don’t even know."
"You saved Erin’s life. Helping you was the least I could do." Daisy smiled at him, her tone gentle, "I wanted to share so good news with you —— the material for Royal Entertainnt’s listing is all prepared this month, and by next month at the latest, it will be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange."
Even though Jas was ntally prepared, Daisy’s news blanked his mind. His hand shook, and the ashes fell, burning his fingertips, but he didn’t notice.
Had things really changed this much in just three months?
Daisy continued.
"I’ve already reserved the chairman’s position for you. Once listed, you’ll hold fifty percent of the shares, with another ten percent under your grandfather’s na. The artist I’m managing, Elena Raven, is a promising talent. You can invest heavily in her, and she can bring substantial profits to the company. Your agreent with your grandfather was to list a company within five years. Now it’s done a year and a half early. So I think even if you divorce , your grandfather won’t press you to marry for the next five years."
Her tone was gentle, even carrying a hint of warmth. Jas steadily watched her, his dark eyes deep and contemplative.
After Daisy finished speaking and saw no response from Jas, she looked up curiously, seeing him staring blankly at her, she asked, "What is it? Any questions?"
Jas diverted his gaze, shaking the ashes off his cigarette. His finger burned, forming a blister, and while rubbing the painful sting, his voice hoarse for unknown reasons: "...So, we divorce next month?"
"Let’s do it this month," Daisy replied. "It’ll be a hassle to divorce after the listing. I’ll leave with nothing. The agreent has already been prepared by the lawyer and sent to your email. When you have ti, rember to take a look."
Jas took a deep breath, feeling a bit suffocated in his chest, not making a sound, only walking over to the sofa and sitting down, head lowered.
Daisy, seeing him like this, walked over and squatted in front of him, gently raised her hand, placing her palm on the man’s knee, softly asking, "Jas, what’s wrong?"
Jas shook his head, voice hoarse: "I don’t know... Maybe it’s the sudden realization of returning ho and finding out I’ll be single again; it’s a bit overwhelming."
