Edward Stephens went up to the study to handle so emails sent from the main office in the United States. When he ca to his senses, an hour had already passed.

In the dead of night, he rarely felt a bit weary. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers and glanced at the text ssages on his phone.

It was a private number, and there were only a few ssages in his inbox. Apart from the spam ssages from the service provider, the only one was from Lady Stephens.

"George has a fever. Charlotte and I took him to the hospital. He asked when his father would co back."

...

Edward glanced at the ssage, tossed the phone onto the desk, and lit a cigarette.

After he divorced Daisy Ginger, he contacted Charlotte Smith, asking her to terminate the pregnancy.

However, Robert Stephens went crazy without telling him, not only hiding Charlotte away but even, after Charlotte gave birth, bringing the mother and child to his villa to raise them.

When the child was a month old, Robert Stephens nad him "George Stephens" and kept him at his place to be raised.

He did not like Charlotte, nor did he agree to marry her, so apart from the Stephens family knowing George was his, to the outside world it was said to be Robert Stephens’ flesh and blood.

And Robert actually agreed to this.

If he didn’t know the man’s cruel nature and his ways of tornting Charlotte Smith, he’d almost doubt whether he had lost his mind.

The child was already three years old, and he hadn’t seen him much, only having a vague impression that the three-year-old raised by Robert was a spitting image of him—gentle and refined, mature beyond his years—no one would doubt it even if he said it was his own child.

There was no legendary attraction in terms of blood; he never developed any feelings towards the child Charlotte bore, even feeling a deep-seated aversion whenever he saw him.

anwhile, Lady Stephens suddenly beca a grandmother, doted on him imnsely, and had hardly left the Stephens’ family ho in four years, helping Charlotte Smith take care of the child.

Edward Stephens finished his cigarette alone, then got up and walked out of the study.

The nanny taking care of Erin Ginger walked past him and called his na softly, "Mr. Stephens!"

Edward said, "Is he asleep?"

The nanny smiled broadly, "The child is very well-behaved, he’s already asleep."

"You should rest too."

The nanny nodded and returned to her room.

Edward didn’t feel sleepy. He wandered towards his own room, pausing slightly at Erin Ginger’s door, unable to resist glancing inside.

The wall light was still on. The child slept snugly in his sky-blue bedding, holding a little yellow duck, sleeping soundly.

When awake, his face was cold and not at all endearing, but when asleep, he was indeed quite cute, with youthful innocence showing in his brows and eyes.

Was that how Daisy Ginger looked when she was a child?

He paused, gazing at him for a long ti before lowering his eyes and chuckling quietly.

He had once longed so much to have a child of his and hers, but in the end, it was not to be.

If their second child had been born, what would they have looked like?

Would they have been as cute as Erin Ginger?

He exhaled softly, shook his head slowly, gently closed the bedroom door, then walked quietly to his own room.

He’s afraid he and Daisy Ginger would never be able to be together in this lifeti. In the dead of night, what was he fantasizing about?
