The next day, Daisy Ginger hastily had lunch at ho, changed her clothes, and planned to head to the airport to catch a flight.
The old housekeeper waited by the side and gently asked, "Miss, when will you be coming back next ti?"
Daisy was putting on her shoes, and upon hearing the old man’s voice, she turned her head to glance at him.
The old housekeeper had been managing the house affairs for the Ginger family since her father’s generation. However, after Alice Lesser’s divorce, she also grew apart from the family. Added to that, with Abigail Perry and Emily Ginger moving in, even though she still returned ho every day, she rarely communicated with these elderly people who had cared for her since childhood.
At this mont, she noticed that the caretaker of her youth had deep wrinkles at the corners of his eyes.
He was getting on in years and might not be able to continue taking care of her family for long.
Daisy redirected her gaze, her tone softened a bit: "Not too sure."
"Will you co back for the New Year?" the old man gently asked. "Both Miss Emily and I will be at ho. If Miss would like to return to celebrate Spring Festival, the whole family can enjoy a reunion dinner together."
"We’ll see then." Daisy smiled at him, glanced at Emily Ginger sitting on the sofa watching TV, and softly said, "Take good care of her while I’m gone."
"I will." The old man nodded, then reached out to straighten Daisy’s collar. "Miss, take care of yourself while you’re away; we will all miss you."
Daisy acknowledged, grabbed her bag, and left through the front door.
The old housekeeper stood at the door, watching Daisy’s still-straight figure. In the sunlight, her frail form seed transparent, almost like an apparition, ready to dissipate with a gust of wind.
—She might never co back.
For so reason, watching her walk away, this thought rose in his mind.
The old housekeeper frowned slightly, wanting to call out to her, but eventually let Daisy’s silhouette grow further and further away.
Her character is unlike anyone else in the Ginger family—independent, strong-willed, yet overly rigid.
I hope nothing happens to her... the old man silently muttered these thoughts, turned wearily, and looked at Emily Ginger inside the house.
This ho, with fewer and fewer people...

Returning to Chicago, Daisy didn’t bother to notify Edward Stephens and directly returned to the Stephens family residence, where she collapsed onto the bed for a haphazard sleep.
It was still dayti when she arrived, but it was already evening when she awoke.
Moreover, there was soone lying beside her.
Daisy opened her eyes and, in the dim light, saw the youthful outline of a man. She didn’t know when she had been wrapped in his embrace, their bodies close, with his warm breath blowing against her hair.
Daisy didn’t know how long she had slept; she only felt a bit numb and achy, and was about to extricate herself when, at her slight movent, the light-sleeping man suddenly opened his eyes.
"Sleep a bit more," he mumbled sleepily, rubbing his face against her neck, his hair tickling her face, reminding Daisy of so type of canine.
Daisy: "No way. Get up, you’re squishing my arm!"
Edward made a small exasperated sound, reluctantly loosened his grip on her, then leaned against the headboard, rubbing his eyes in clear discontent.
"Did you go rob a house last night?" Daisy got up from the bed, stretched, and teased.
"You weren’t ho, I was bored, so I stayed up all night at the office," he replied.
Daisy’s stretching paused slightly.
