Daisy Ginger watched her face turning green and white, clearly feeling ashad and embarrassed.
But Daisy didn’t forget, this seemingly delicate woman had once unknowingly caused a car accident. To this day, no evidence had been found.
Back then, right after Daisy discovered her pregnancy at the hospital, she had soone drive into her and caused her miscarriage by the afternoon.
If she hadn’t slipped up, Daisy might have never known that car accident was never an accident.
Her compassion didn’t extend to the Stephens family.
"I’m leaving."
She spoke plainly, casually flipping her long hair back as she was about to leave.
"Miss Ginger."
Charlotte Smith finally spoke, stopping her, her face a bit uneasy.
Daisy turned her head slightly, giving her a glance.
"Could I ask you not to ntion what happened today to the second young master?"
Daisy was taken aback, looking at her, and for so reason, she smiled.
"You really like him, huh?"
Charlotte’s expression showed a trace of discomfort, but she endured it, imploring Daisy, "I beg you."
She might have no dignity left in front of Edward Stephens, but she still couldn’t help wanting to appear normal in front of him, not wanting to expose her worst side under his gaze.
Doing so would make it impossible for her to lift her head in his presence.
Everyone wants to present their best side to soone they like.
Even soone raised in the Stephens family finds it hard to hide this human flaw...
Daisy looked at Charlotte and spoke faintly, "Don’t you find it strange that you’re asking his wife to keep secrets for you?"
"..." Charlotte looked at her, involuntarily straightening her back, as if unwilling to show weakness in front of a rival.
"Didn’t I say? If you like him, I can let him go to you. Surely, staying by Robert Stephens’ side, you’ve learned a lot, right? Figure a way to get him to divorce , and by then he’ll be none of my affair. How happy would it be to take him over?"
"Miss Ginger," Charlotte took a deep breath, "please don’t joke like that."
Daisy stared at her, not knowing why she coldly sneered, "Where did your courage go when you plotted that drug addict to crash into ?"
"..."
Charlotte paused, pursing her lips as she looked at Daisy, seeing a mocking sneer in her eyes.
"Back then... I didn’t know the second young master would go to such lengths for you," she said softly, "had I known things would turn out this way, I would have chosen a gentler..."
"Forget it." Daisy interrupted her explanation, "I’m not interested in your affairs, I won’t say anything to Edward Stephens, don’t flatter yourself."
"..." Charlotte let out a sigh of relief, then whispered, "Thank you."
Daisy let out a sarcastic laugh, then turned to leave.
What’s this supposed to be?
Feels like she’s just playing the role of the vicious supporting character, while Charlotte is the innocent little white flower?
But indeed, this whole family is quite twisted.
Thinking of the fresh and old scars all over Charlotte’s body, she couldn’t help but feel sick at the na Robert Stephens.
A big man, bullying a woman, what’s that about?
*
Daisy wasn’t soone who pried into others’ lives, even if Charlotte hadn’t asked, she wouldn’t casually talk about her matters to others.
After a month of recovery with the Stephens family, Daisy’s body had mostly healed.
During dinner, she proposed to Edward Stephens that she go back to Banyan City for a trip.
This ti, the man surprisingly didn’t object and agreed imdiately.
Daisy was astonished.
"You’re not coming with ?"
"I have business to attend to, no ti to accompany you."
"Not even having soone watch over ?"
"Who do you want to go back with you?"
"..." Daisy blinked her eyes, still sowhat in disbelief, looked at Edward, and carefully said, "Aren’t you afraid I’ll run away?"
Hearing this, the man indeed smiled.
He reached out and pinched Daisy’s sharp chin, smiling, "If you run, I’ll just capture you back."
His smile was a bit creepy.
Daisy slapped his hand away, "Stop touching ."
Edward retracted his hand, nonchalantly saying, "When do you plan to leave? I’ll book your plane ticket."
Daisy said, "Soti this week, any day."
Edward just thought she missed ho, letting her go back to hang out with Ethan and them for a few days, it was no big deal.
"A week, no later than half a month, otherwise I’ll co to fetch you myself." He set a condition with her.
Daisy laughed, "Don’t treat like an unweaned kid, am I your mother?"
Edward: "Then I’ll feed from you today."
Daisy was drinking soup and nearly spat it out, then she choked and coughed violently, covering her mouth.
Edward remained calm, as if he hadn’t just said sothing inappropriate, and continued eating leisurely.
Daisy coughed until she was nearly out of breath, then finally recovered, glaring at him fiercely, "Can you have so decency?"
The man glanced at her, leisurely taking a sip of water, with an innocent expression.
"What did I say?"
"..." Daisy found herself at a loss for words.
Compared to him, she still lost face!
*
The plane ticket Edward booked her was for the weekend.
That day he was off work, and he personally drove her to the airport.
"Co back soon." He ruffled her hair, looked down at her, his expression sowhat gentle.
Daisy stood in front of him, looking up at his face. In his deep, dark eyes, she saw her own reflection.
Since the loss of their child, their relationship seed a little more eased.
Both tacitly didn’t ntion each other’s betrayals and deceits. Edward no longer used extre asures to keep her around, he seed much more mature in this relationship.
Daisy took a gentle breath, nodding lightly to the man, "I’m leaving."
The man looked at her, sighed gently, and pulled her into his arms.
"Ah, what do I do? I miss you a bit, and you haven’t even left yet."
"..." Daisy’s face was buried in his chest, hearing his words made her a bit speechless, "Stop acting cute."
A grown man, in public, what kind of behavior is this?
"Co back soon." He rested his chin on her shoulder, speaking in a low voice, "I’m afraid I won’t be able to help it and co to Banyan City to capture you."
Daisy looked up, at the handso face in front of her, with a hint of plaintiveness, she didn’t know why, she smiled softly, "Got it."
"..." Edward looked at her, slowly putting away his smile, saying nothing, just gently hugging her.
After a while, he finally let go, patting her on the head, "Go now."
Watching any longer, he feared he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from keeping her there.
His desire for her was overwhelming.
And that desire was destructive to their relationship.
Yet controlling this desire was quite arduous.
