The convoy soon drove a mile away.

On either side of the road, there were no more villages. The off-road vehicle traveled on the muddy, bumpy mountain road, making one drowsy.

After crying for a while, Jasper White was taken away by Granny Dixon who ca rushing over. Daisy Ginger was utterly embarrassed and sat silently in the car, while Edward Stephens, who had been pretending to nap, seed to dislike not being annoying enough, and occasionally mimicked Jasper White sarcastically.

"Daisy Ginger, you liar."

"When I grow up, I will co to marry you."

"Hmph."

...

Damn you!

Daisy Ginger regretted not having earplugs to block out this annoying noise.

She turned her head to look out the window, ignoring the annoying man beside her.

Edward Stephens stirred up so trouble for a while, then finally settled down, sitting next to her, twirling a lock of her long hair in his hand.

Daisy Ginger’s scalp itched from his pulling. She pulled it back fiercely, only for him to snatch it again and keep playing with it. They played with that strand of hair for about ten minutes.

Finally, Edward Stephens burst into laughter and stopped annoying her, leaning back in the seat and looking at her with a smile.

What are you looking at...

Daisy Ginger tied up her hair into a bun at the back of her head and turned away, ignoring him.

After an hour and a half of driving, the convoy stopped to rest and freshen up.

In such a remote place, drivers were highly tense, easily fatigued, requiring frequent breaks. Luckily, in another half an hour of driving, they would reach another town.

Daisy Ginger jumped out of the car, wanting to breathe the fresh air outside, not wanting to stay with Edward Stephens. However, as she got out of the car, Edward followed her.

This was an open area. A bunch of n got out of the cars, gathering not far away to relieve themselves. She was the only woman in the whole convoy.

Edward Stephens glanced at the group of n pulling down their pants, then led Daisy Ginger aside, "Don’t wander off."

He lifted his chin and pointed, "If you need the bathroom, go over there."

Daisy Ginger hesitated and blushed, "I don’t need the bathroom!"

Edward Stephens: "Then why did you get out of the car?"

Daisy Ginger coldly snorted, turning her head, "I don’t want to stay with you."

On hearing this, his eyes deepened slightly, staying silent. He walked under a tree in front of her and began to undo his belt.

Daisy Ginger: "!!!"

Damn it! My eyes!

The ground was just relieved by a bunch of n. Though the mountain wind was strong, Daisy Ginger feared slling sothing strange. With the only unoccupied spot taken by Edward, she climbed back into the car sulkily.

Seeing her return, Edward slowly buckled his belt back up.

He leaned against the tree trunk, lit a cigarette, puffing slowly until it was gone.

By five thirty in the evening, the convoy reached another, slightly more bustling small town.

Edward’s n had reserved the entire small hotel, leaving the best double room for Daisy Ginger and himself.

While his n went to buy food, Daisy, feeling as if her body was falling apart, grimaced as she climbed onto the bed.

Edward ca out after a shower, seeing Daisy Ginger sprawled like the letter "T" on the bed without a care.

He sneered, "Serves you right."

Daisy Ginger opened her eyes.

"Who asked you to co to this godforsaken place."

Daisy Ginger threw a pillow at him.

Edward caught the pillow, walking over to sit on the side of the bed.

He had just finished his shower, steam rising from him, droplets of water from his black hair staining the white sheets. As he leaned towards her, Daisy couldn’t help but move a little further away, slightly repulsed, "Don’t co near."

Edward wiped his short hair with a towel, then coldly glanced at her, "Will you run away again in the future?"

Daisy Ginger sat up from the bed, annoyed at his naturally presumptuous deanor.

She narrowed her eyes, "Do I need you ddling in my affairs?"

She stared at his dark eyes, fearlessly adding, "Who do you think you are?!"

Suddenly, he reached out, grabbed her ankle, and before she could utter a sound, he pulled her beneath him.

She widened her eyes in shock, staring at the man looming over her, droplets of water from his hair falling onto her, and Daisy couldn’t help but push him away, placing her hands against his bare chest, rejecting his advance.

The air thickened with tension.

As his eyes darkened, the surrounding air seed to thin out. Daisy unconsciously pressed her lips together, her bright eyes cautious as she looked at the man in front of her.

Even she hadn’t realized how much she feared the current Edward.

"Don’t think just because I spoil you now, you can say whatever you want." Finally satisfied, Edward spoke leisurely, pinching Daisy’s stiff face, "Don’t think hiding will solve anything. Our issue isn’t resolved yet, even if you bury yourself underground, I’ll dig you out."

Daisy believed that last part.

She had already hidden in the mountain village, and Edward still found her. This ti, she only managed to escape because he was unguarded. Next ti, escape seed unlikely.

Fear gripped her heart, but her anger outweighed it.

Rage fueled her eyes, Daisy defiantly looked at him, "Edward Stephens, what the hell do you think you’re doing! I owe you nothing, what right do you have to do this to ?!"

He lifted a finger, pressing it against her lips, making a "shh" gesture.

Then, watching her, he smiled softly.

"Isn’t this what you taught ?" Maliciously, he said, "The way you dealt with back then, I’m just returning the favor. Didn’t you think there would be consequences when you sched to break Emily and up? Daisy, are you regretting it now? Too late. Since I’ve taken a liking to you, our days will be smoother if you behave."

Daisy, unable to contain her rage: "Like hell I want to live with you!"

She was set on divorcing him.

This was all fake, ssed up, a trap.

She mistook him and didn’t want to live with that mistake forever.

Impossible!

Edward smiled at her, the smile containing a bit of disdain, as if saying – what can you do about ?

Daisy’s chest heaved, biting her lip, looking at his smug yet hateful face, feeling humiliated, she turned her gaze away.

...She really had...no way out.

As long as he refused to sign the divorce papers, this sham of a marriage would endure forever.

It was legally binding, not subject to her will.

If only she had been a bit wary of the Stephens family back then, she wouldn’t be in such a ridiculous position today.

Who’s to bla for her complete trust in Lady Stephens.

"Edward Stephens, damn your ancestors!"

His eyes darkened as he bit her fair neck ruthlessly, warning coldly:

"Daisy, watch your language."
