In less than half an hour, they arrived outside the castle with Coran's chest. The sky had just darkened, and the moon was already climbing high. At the edge of the Forbidden Forest, Coran let out the Chira.

"Sounds a bit like sothing my dad would do," the water serpent tail said.

"More or less," Coran replied.

"What are you talking about?" Harry asked as he climbed onto the Chira.

"Blowing up the Ministry of Magic," Coran said in a very ordinary tone.

"We have to hurry; we can't let anyone see us," Hermione said anxiously. "Harry, you don't have to grip your wand while we're flying. It'll be very cold, and you might drop it if you can't hold on properly."

The Chira could easily carry four people; two could sit on the lion's back alone. Once they took off, the cold winds of the Scottish Highlands began to whip at their faces. They had to bury their faces in the lion's or goat's fur to feel any comfort.

"Breathe fire," Coran said, holding a skewer with a fish on it in front of the lion.

"Whoosh!"

The water serpent paused in mid-air. The lion turned its head and breathed fire onto the fish, then let out a low moan, wanting Coran to give it the roasted fish. But Coran pulled his hand back.

"I'll give you the next one. I need to fill my stomach first." The flight continued, and Coran began sprinkling seasoning on the fish.

"Coran, what are you doing?" Ron asked from behind the goat, his voice muffled by the fur as he slled the food.

"Roasting sothing to eat. How can we fight on an empty stomach?" Coran said. "Want so? The old water serpent stuffed a few into my pocket on the way out."

Harry didn't have much of an appetite, but Hermione and Ron each took one. Coran gave the remaining three to the lion, otherwise it would have turned into a flying sulfurous drool fountain.

It was hard to imagine they were actually on their way to "save soone" and "confront Voldemort."

The water serpent's floating flight was fast, and soon they could see the lights of London. After they landed, Coran urged the now-invisible Chira back into its chest. Harry and the others squeezed into the phone booth Ron pointed out, which was the Ministry of Magic's visitor entrance.

"We could be of so help," the goat said. "Letting you go in alone might not be the best choice."

"He's just an old lunatic who spams Killing Curses," Coran said. "I'll be fine."

"Roar..." the lion growled softly.

"The lion ans he'll rip anyone who uses a Killing Curse on you to shreds," the goat explained. "That spell is very uncomfortable for us."

"But it won't kill you?" Coran murmured. It seed there was a reason why there were no recorded instances of wizards successfully defeating a Chira.

"Then stay here and keep an eye out while invisible. If things get really bad, step in and take care of it. You know, if the Death Eaters knew they were up against a Chira, they probably wouldn't even dare to step inside the Ministry."

"Coran! Ron's got it! Hurry up, it's about to activate!" Harry urged from inside the phone booth.

"Get in first, and then get out once we're in the Ministry," Coran said.

After closing the chest, Coran joined Harry and the others in the phone booth. Ron rattled the dial a few tis.

"Welco to the Ministry of Magic. Please state your na and purpose for your visit," a cold female voice announced.

"Harry Potter, Coran Norton, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger," Harry quickly rattled off their nas. Then he looked at Coran when it was ti to state their purpose.

"To rescue soone," Coran said for him.

"Please take your badge and pin it to the front of your clothes," the female voice said. "Visitors to the Ministry, you are required to pass through the security checkpoint and register your wands. The security checkpoint is at the end of the Atrium."

Four badges popped out. They had their nas on them and were labelled "Rescue Personnel."

"I'm going to wear this to a comic convention soday," Coran said. "And I'll wear wizard robes and pretend to be a wizard."

"But you are a wizard?" Ron asked, confused. "Why would you pretend? And what's a comic convention?"

"It's a gathering for fans of novels and comics," Hermione said. "Hold on—why isn't the phone booth moving?"

Just as Hermione was wondering, the phone booth suddenly dropped as if in a state of free fall. Luckily, they didn't get slamd into the ceiling by the inertia. When the door opened, they saw the Ministry's Atrium.

It was a wide, underground corridor. The marble floor didn't reflect much light due to the gloomy environnt, and the fireplaces on either side were without their usual green flas. There was no one there.

"Lumos." Coran lit the tip of his wand.

"It does look pretty empty," Ron said. "Maybe Harry was right..."

"That makes it even more dangerous," Hermione said, pulling out her wand and biting her lip. "Sothing's not right. There should be people on duty at the Ministry, right?"

"Today's person on duty is Augustus Rookwood," Coran said. He used his glowing wand tip to point at a sign near the wand registry, which listed the day's on-duty personnel.

"What's wrong with him?" Hermione asked.

"He's a Death Eater," Coran and Harry said at the sa ti.

"That explains a lot," Coran said, shrugging.

"Let's hurry," Harry urged. "No need to register wands now... Do we take the lift to the Departnt of Mysteries?"

"We take the lift to the bottom floor," Ron's voice trembled slightly. "Do you guys feel like sothing's watching us?"

Of course, they did, because Coran had just let the Chira out.

"You all go down first. I'll leave so detection spells up here so we'll know when soone's coming," Coran said.

After they took the lift down, Coran left so tracking charms in the Atrium so he would know right away when others arrived. This would help him decide when it would be best for Voldemort to show up. After all, it would be impossible for Edward to keep Voldemort's return a secret forever, and having him appear in front of more people would allow Edward to enact his warti asures more easily.

Then, when the lift ca back up, Coran and the Chira squeezed inside. Finally having Coran to himself in such a confined space, the lion started licking Coran's hair without any restraint.

"Behave yourself!" Coran pushed back on the lion's lower jaw with the top of his head, then used a Scouring Charm to get rid of the sulfurous drool.

When the lift reached the Departnt of Mysteries floor, Coran saw Harry and the others waiting outside.

"Which way now?" Coran asked Harry.

"I rember it being a black door," Harry said. "Let's just go forward..."

"That might be difficult to tell," Ron said. "All the doors here are black."
