"Don't co any closer, Hagrid!" Charlie shouted. "They can breathe fire—nearly twenty feet!"
Hagrid stood where he was, staring at the beasts with shining eyes.

"She'll tell her students," Charlie warned.
Hagrid scratched his head.
"It's… uh… a sort of date. I thought she'd like seeing them."
He gazed dreamily at the dragon on the ground.
Mada Maxi, on the other hand, looked utterly repulsed.
Darren thought bleakly that taking soone to see fire-breathing monsters on a first date might be one of the worst ideas in history.
No wonder she seed so cold.
Hagrid suddenly asked, "So what will the champions have to do? Fight the dragons?"
Charlie shook his head.
"No. They'll probably have to grab sothing from the dragons, or survive under their guard. They won't just send them to die… though it's still extrely dangerous."
Harry noticed Darren's face turn pale.
"Brother," Darren said anxiously, "let's quit. I'll take you away."
He had already imagined Harry being swallowed whole.
"Let's leave, brother!"

Harry only realized what was happening when Darren dragged him away from the clearing.
His fear slowly turned into a helpless laugh.
Watching Darren panic over him sohow made his heart feel lighter.
"No, Darren," Harry said firmly. "If we quit, we'll die anyway. The Goblet's binding magic—you rember?"
Darren's eyes reddened.
"Brother… I'd rather die than watch you risk your life."

In the end, he held Darren's shoulders firmly.
"Don't be afraid. You take care of yourself, and I'll take care of myself. We'll survive this together."

"Harry and Darren are in the Triwizard Tournant, and Mom and Dad know about it.

"Brother, we really need to go now."
Harry exhaled.
"We're due in the common room in fifteen minutes. Should we say goodbye to Hagrid?"
Harry glanced back at Hagrid—completely absorbed in Mada Maxi and the dragons—and shook his head.
"Let's not disturb him. It's not easy for him to find a girlfriend."
So they ran.
On the way, soone suddenly bumped into them.
Darren pulled Harry aside.
The man stumbled and fell heavily.

The pointed goatee made him unmistakable.
When he disappeared into the darkness, Harry muttered while running:
"I bet he went spying too. Now everyone knows the first task is dragons."
Darren sighed inwardly.
In the original tiline, only Cedric—who had no backer—was left in the dark.

It really was unfair.
They sprinted the rest of the way.
Five minutes left.
When they burst into the Gryffindor common room, less than a minute remained.
A large black dog's head sat right in front of the fireplace.

At a glance, it looked like a severed head sitting in the flas.
"Sirius…" Darren began.
Sirius cut him off instantly.
"Co closer—are you hurt? The papers said you were taken by Death Eaters!"
"Oh, Sirius, Darren's fine," Harry said helplessly.
The injuries had healed long ago.
Sirius sighed.
"It's not that I forgot. I just didn't dare write about you in letters. One wrong word… and they'd track down."
Then he looked at Harry.
