Chapter 658: Chapter 654: How About Letting Fawkes Guard the Basilisk? (Double Length)

When Kael and the other two returned to the office, Harry was already waiting anxiously. He looked restless, eager to visit the unconscious Sirius.

This ti, Dumbledore agreed.

Cecily led them out of the office, turned a corner, and arrived at a brighter corridor.

Kael noticed that the first digit on the number plaques outside the wards was always five, aning they were on the fifth floor of St Mungo’s Hospital—the Departnt of Magical Injuries.

He had thought Sirius would also be on this floor, but Cecily didn’t stop; instead, she headed down the stairs.

Everyone they t along the way—whether patient or healer—nearly always paused to greet Cecily. It was clear the head healer was respected at St Mungo’s.

"So where are we going now..." Kael couldn’t help asking, "Shouldn’t soone tortured by Crucio Curse be treated on the fifth floor?"

"That’s true," said Head Healer Cecily, "but Black wasn’t tortured by the Crucio Curse for long. We first need to deal with the wounds left by the bite of the Rune Pattern Snake—those Fantastic Beast fangs are poisonous."

As she said this, Cecily glanced at Kael again.

She thought of the Basilisk, and compared to that legendary Fantastic Beast, the venom of a Rune Pattern Snake didn’t really asure up.

Soon, Cecily brought them to the second floor, which was also the one most familiar to Kael.

He looked at a rack placed at the stair landing and was montarily dazed.

"Yes, that’s the rack you used to pierce the werewolf back then," Cecily said with a smile, "After the Transfiguration Spell wore off, we put it back in its place."

Hearing this, even Harry—whose mind was all on Sirius—paused.

Of course he knew the reason Kael had received the rlin Order dal was for defeating a suddenly transford werewolf at St Mungo’s.

But before, it was just rumor. He hadn’t expected it to be right here.

He looked curiously at the rack.

...It was just a very ordinary storage rack, with a few flowerpots on top.

Honestly, if Cecily hadn’t ntioned it, he would never have connected sothing so ordinary with a weapon.

"Did you find out the reason?" Kael asked, "Why that werewolf was able to transform during the day."

"A mad pharmacist," Cecily answered calmly, "He orchestrated that revenge attack because I rejected his application to join The Most Extraordinary Society of Potioneers."

"Do you need any help from ?" Dumbledore asked.

"Thank you, Albus, but the matter is settled now," Cecily said, smiling.

"Oh, Professor Dumbledore, Kael, Harry, what brings you here?"

At this mont, Mr. Weasley ca upstairs, carrying so bandages and several bottles of different Magic Potions.

"We ca to visit Sirius," Harry said quickly. "Mr. Weasley, do you know where he is?"

"Of course... But to be honest, you really shouldn’t be here, especially you, Harry. Right now it’s dangerous outside Hogwarts," Mr. Weasley sighed.

Soon he realized Dumbledore was present, so he stopped speaking, and pointed to the second room on the right.

"Sirius is in there, follow ."

He went over and opened the door, and Harry rushed right in.

"Rember to keep quiet," Mr. Weasley reminded. "It’s not just Sirius in there."

Kael had also wanted to follow, but Dumbledore reached out to stop him.

"Let’s wait out here," he said, "Sirius shouldn’t see too many people at once, or it’ll affect the rest of the patients... Actually, I have so things to ask you as well."

Kael’s expression stiffened... All right, what had to co had co after all.

Because there were many people passing through the corridor, Dumbledore took him up to the sixth floor of St Mungo’s.

This floor housed shops and tea rooms—specifically for visitors and conversation.

Cecily stayed behind to prepare the antidote and didn’t go with them.

Dumbledore led Kael into a private tea room. As soon as they entered, his expression turned serious.

"I rember we agreed not to bring the Basilisk into Hogwarts."

"Ah, yes..." Kael felt a little guilty, but forced himself to answer, "But things are different now, aren’t they?"

"Oh?" Dumbledore’s gaze flickered, saying nothing, as if waiting for Kael’s explanation.

"Because of the Philosopher’s Stone and the Diary, Voldemort wants to kill . Last ti on the mountaintop, he made no attempt to hide his murderous intent, and acted on it."

Kael said, "He didn’t just send all the Death Eaters after , he even tried to do it himself. Thankfully, the Mist Treasure Pearl—such a wondrous Magic Tool—saved my life."

After hearing about the Philosopher’s Stone and Diary, Dumbledore’s eyes lost so of their previous resolve.

Indeed, Kael had ruined Voldemort’s plans twice in a row, so naturally Voldemort held a deep grudge.

Added to what happened atop the mountain, and with Kael having found several Soul Artifacts as well, there was absolutely no chance things could be nded.

Voldemort’s hatred for Kael was probably no less than for Harry—possibly even more. In this situation, Kael finding ways to protect himself was hard to argue against.

Dumbledore was troubled. Although the logic was sound, he still couldn’t quite accept a Basilisk appearing in the school—unless Kael could give him a more compelling reason.
