Chapter 57: Chapter 57: What to Do When Your Dog Loses Its Appetite
Who in the Magic Realm would refuse to raise a dragon? Hagrid certainly wouldn’t. As for temperantal problems... so what? Kids being a bit naughty is perfectly normal.
The fact that the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve sent it back only proves those people are incompetent. Look at them—all skinny like twigs. How could they possibly raise a dragon properly?
"Alright, if you beco a professor..."
"No problem!" Before Kael could even finish his sentence, Hagrid waved his hand and said, "I agree to the bet."
He didn’t even consider whether Kael could really persuade Newt or if Dumbledore would allow a Fire Dragon into Hogwarts. He agreed outright.
As if afraid Kael would change his mind, Hagrid picked up the pace and led the three of them, half-running, to the vicinity of the Moonstruck Beast’s cave.
"You three can stay here and don’t go any further."
Hagrid turned around and seriously addressed the three of them, "The Moonstruck Beast’s dancing is super exhausting, so they need to ensure a good sleep during the day. So, you must be as quiet as possible."
Conna and Cedric first silently nodded, then looked curiously at the tent-like caves.
Kael didn’t join them?
Just a Moonstruck Beast; he’s seen them countless tis with Newt already.
His attention was entirely focused on the nearby Wiggentrees.
Compared to other places, the Wiggentrees here have grown very large, both thick and tall.
Kael stepped forward and knocked on the trunk; it was solid and hard.
Seeing Kael’s actions, Hagrid whispered, "Because Moonstruck Beasts stomp their droppings into the ground, Wiggentrees typically thrive wherever they are.
Oh, and this is also the nesting place for Bowtruckles."
Kael looked up and quickly spotted countless "little green shoots" on the Wiggentrees.
That was indeed like what he saw with Newt; in that magical box, Bowtruckles and Moonstruck Beasts were neighbors.
Kael picked up a twig from the ground and asked, "Hagrid, can I collect so twigs?"
"You can, but what do you need them for?"
"Just have so ideas."
...
When they ca out of the Forbidden Forest, Hagrid was carrying a big bundle of dry twigs.
Kael initially intended to use Levitating Spells to carry them out, but Hagrid thought it too cumberso and offered to help take them out.
After coming out of the Forbidden Forest, Cedric went back to the castle as he had classes.
Kael and Conna stayed behind.
Unlike last ti, Hagrid warmly invited them to visit his cabin.
When they entered the room, a large black dog ca over, wagging its tongue, its tail nearly spinning like a fan.
Kael held its head and petted it until it almost rolled its eyes in pleasure.
To be honest, it did feel good.
"Alright, Fang, co here."
At this point, Hagrid placed a basin of grayish mush on the floor, and Fang eagerly dashed over, diving in.
Hagrid patted its head, "Eat slowly; there’s more if you need it."
Taking this opportunity, Kael glanced around.
There was only one room inside, with ham and pheasants hanging from the ceiling, a copper pot boiling water over the hearth, and a large bed in the corner covered with patchwork quilts.
It looked unimpressive, even a bit shabby.
However, Kael noticed that the raw material of the ham was Tebo, and the "rope" used to hang it was white and shiny, seemingly made of so kind of silk.
In an initial assessnt, it was likely made from the silk of an Eight-eyed Giant Spider.
And the cushions they were sitting on—woven from Unicorn Hair, although not all tail hair, were luxurious enough.
It was still the first ti he sat on such an expensive cushion.
After Hagrid sat down, Kael introduced, "This is Conna, and the one who just left was Cedric. They’re both Hufflepuffs like , although Cedric is in the second year."
"Hello."
Hagrid was quite pleased, greeted Conna, and handed a piece of Rock Skin Cake from a nearby plate to her and Kael. "You must be hungry; try my cooking."
When Conna took the Rock Skin Cake, she felt a sudden weight, as if she were holding a brick.
Her eye twitched slightly but wisely chose not to eat it.
Kael didn’t eat it either but asked for another piece from Hagrid, saying he would eat it with Cedric later.
Hagrid was delighted and generously gave the entire plate of Rock Skin Cakes to Kael, telling him he could always co back for more if it wasn’t enough.
But Kael didn’t take them all and pocketed just two pieces.
He definitely wasn’t going to eat them. Even if Rock Skin Cakes tasted good, without teeth like a Giant, he couldn’t enjoy them.
But keeping them for self-defense was a good idea.
Recently, he was almost stressed to the breaking point by Snape, and if he snapped one day, using this to smash the back of his head wasn’t such a bad option.
Correction, it should be phrased as offering Professor Snape sothing to eat; he just didn’t catch it.
Taking back the plate from Kael, Hagrid looked at him and awkwardly said, "Well, I have a dog, but it’s recently been out of spirits and has a poor appetite. What’s wrong with it?"
Kael instinctively glanced at Fang, who was gobbling away.
Out of spirits? Poor appetite?
If he rembered correctly, this was already the second bowl, right?
"It’s not Fang." Seeing Kael’s puzzled expression, Hagrid imdiately explained, "It’s another dog."
"Oh..."
Once Hagrid said this, Kael understood; Hagrid was talking about the Three-Headed Dog.
He scanned the room again but saw no sign of Fluffy.
"Didn’t I say before?" Kael said, turning his head. "Just leave it in the Forbidden Forest."
"I did, but it doesn’t work." Hagrid’s voice was sowhat grievance-filled, "When it’s in the Forbidden Forest, it’s much better, but once it cos back to the room, it turns listless again."
...
Kael was a bit speechless.
Hagrid’s understanding was unparalleled; did he think it was just walking the dog? Bringing it back!
"Hagrid, the Three-Headed Dog..."
"Just one head, just one head!"
Kael took a deep breath, ignored Hagrid’s frantic denial, and continued, "The Three-Headed Dog is a large Fantastic Beast, and by nature, they prefer open and vast places.
If confined in a low and closed environnt for long periods, it becos very depressed."
"It’s not low here," Hagrid mumbled softly.
"That’s only true for you," Kael patiently explained. "In just one year, a Three-Headed Dog can grow up to three ters tall, with a body length exceeding five ters. By then, it will find it difficult to even turn around in here."
