Chapter 275: Chapter 273: Hogwarts’ Worst Class Schedule
Professor Kettleburn took just half a class to completely change everyone’s previous impression of the Care of Magical Creatures class.
Especially after getting up close with the Bowtruckle, they realized just how fun these little guys were.
They are a very simple magical creature and don’t hide their emotions. When given an Earth Turtle, they happily extend their long arms and swing from a person’s clothes like on a swing.
Or they might crawl into a young wizard’s robe pocket to enjoy a delicious snack where no one can see them.
Students quickly lined up... everyone wanted to play with the Bowtruckle for a little longer.
To ensure that everyone got a chance to interact with the Bowtruckle, Professor Kettleburn had to set a rule that each person was allowed only two minutes.
Additionally, he went into the Forbidden Forest to get another batch of Bowtruckle... about twenty or so.
After all, the previous ones were almost full, but there were still dozens of people in line waiting to feed them.
If he didn’t increase the number, they wouldn’t be able to enjoy the interaction.
While everyone was lining up, Professor Kettleburn stood nearby and loudly said:
"Because the Bowtruckle will never choose trees without magical traits to live in."
"This ans that the trees they guard are usually used to make wands."
"Therefore, these little creatures are beloved by wandmakers... they don’t have to work hard to identify those trees, they just look for where Bowtruckle are and that’s it."
...
Professor Kettleburn’s lessons were very detailed and interesting.
He was always able to answer each question when faced with students’ inquiries.
"Professor, if you put a Bowtruckle in an ordinary forest, what would it do?" a Gryffindor student asked from the back of the line.
"It would still live in the trees, just not as comfortably." Professor Kettleburn said, "It’s like having you leave a warm, cozy bed to sleep on top of the Astronomy Tower. I believe no one would find it more comfortable there."
"Professor, if there were five Bowtruckle and six rowan trees, which tree would they abandon?"
"Except for the oldest tree, the other five would be abandoned."
Professor Kettleburn said, "They usually stay together until there are enough mbers on the tree, then they choose other trees."
"What if all the rowan trees are the sa?"
"Then they choose the closest one..."
Gradually, more and more people started asking questions, each one trickier than the last. Soone even mischievously asked how many Bowtruckle a hungry Fire Dragon could eat in one bite.
But Professor Kettleburn still didn’t get angry.
"Judging by the Fire Dragon’s mouth size and the number of Bowtruckle on a tree, roughly twelve."
But typically, Bowtruckle are not part of a Fire Dragon’s diet because they have almost no at, and they’re nimble, making them hard to catch.
You can’t expect them to stand foolishly on a tree waiting for a Fire Dragon to co, right?"
The students applauded, and the young wizard who asked the question clapped the hardest, his hands turning red.
And so, a class quickly ca to an end.
Professor Kettleburn ca over to Kael and asked, "Did you find it boring?"
Kael shook his head, "No, it was very interesting."
"Honestly, it’s okay."
"Well... it was a bit." Kael said sheepishly, scratching his head.
Professor Kettleburn laughed, "I went to the Hesidiri Islands last night, Newt was there too, and we just happened to talk about you.
He told
quite a bit about you and even ntioned that you helped deliver a Nundu’s cub."
Kael chuckled dryly.
Newt isn’t supposed to be sociable, why did he share everything?
To avoid being given any strange titles, he quickly shook his head and said, "It was all Mr. Scamander’s work, I just helped a little."
But Professor Kettleburn seed not to hear him, muttering to himself, "It seems like the third-year Care of Magical Creatures class is indeed a bit too easy for you."
"Conveniently, I received a letter from Professor McGonagall before class; you’ve chosen quite a few courses, right?"
Kael nodded.
"Go attend so other classes then." Professor Kettleburn patted his shoulder, then shook his head and murmured softly:
"What a pity, if only that Hippogriff could delay its birth by a few days... with your help, I’d have a much easier ti too."
Speaking, he rubbed his chest... on that coat of unknown material were three neat white scratches, probably made by a Hippogriff.
Kael twitched the corners of his mouth and quickly changed the subject: "Professor, where’s your prosthetic leg?"
"Oh, it got left in the Hesidiri Islands; those big guys can be a real disaster when they lose their temper."
...
After bidding farewell to Professor Kettleburn, the two walked toward the castle.
On the way back, Conna curiously asked, "You can deliver magical creatures too..."
"If we don’t ntion this, we’re still good friends!"
Kael said grumpily, "Besides, Newt was the one helping, at most I was just an assistant!"
Seeing Kael’s disgruntled look, Conna’s eyes curved into crescents as she covered her mouth and laughed softly.
The second period was Magic History.
There wasn’t much to say about Professor Binns’ class; as soon as he started reciting those dull dates and nas, many young wizards began to nod off.
It’s been like this since two years ago, it’s still the sa now, and the number of people like that has been increasing.
Less than five minutes into the lesson, a large part of the class was already slumped over.
Moreover, students seem to have evolved a magical ability... no matter how noisy their dormitory sleep was, when they got here, it beca very quiet, and their sleep quality improved drastically.
It’s as if the Magic History tables hold so kind of magic.
After class, everyone quickly woke up, left the classroom invigorated, and prepared to head to the auditorium to eat.
Kael t the Weasley trio at the entrance of the auditorium.
They seed to be planning sothing, but upon seeing Kael approach, they quickly ran off.
"Do you know what they were talking about?" Kael asked.
Conna shook her head, with a book imprint on her face from sleeping.
"So strange..." Kael watched their backs, puzzled, as he walked into the auditorium.
...
The afternoon had two consecutive classes of Snape’s Potion Class.
On the first day of the new school year, Magic History in the morning, Potion Class in the afternoon... it’s almost impossible to find a worse schedule at Hogwarts.
When leaving the common room, except for Conna, everyone else’s deanor wasn’t very good, especially those who hadn’t finished their howork, who even struggled to walk steadily.
