Chapter 21- One-Man Army (Part 2)
After eliminating that entire group of Undead, Rein was able to stack a lot of points in his One-Man Army skill, gaining almost 15% of extra stats because of it. That naturally made a huge difference in everything. Rein’s senses, reaction speed, body control, and everything else were considerably better than before because of it, and that helped him in dodging the flying pigeons.
A series of blasts echoed around him as debris flew everywhere. Rein dodged the attacks as he glided down the road swiftly. His speed was high, but he was able to make extrely sharp turns almost instantly. That would’ve wrecked the tendons and muscles of a normal person, but since he was far stronger and more flexible, he was able to do these adjustnts without affecting his body.
’These suicidal pigeons!’ Rein cursed as he saw even more of them flying toward him. anwhile, the animals running on the ground were still in hot pursuit.
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*
Jumping left and right, Rein was able to dodge the attacks at the last mont as he quickly picked another pebble and aid it at a Pigeon that flew right next to him. The small bullet flew from his hand and hit it in the head, making it fall to the ground.
At the sa ti, from the side, Rein could see what he could only describe as a giant squirrel leaping out of nowhere as it descended on him.
Rein clenched his teeth as he quickly summoned his sword and thrust forward, skewering the monster as it landed before he threw it to the side and continued running.
’This is getting over the top. These mutated creatures are coming in all kinds of shapes and forms. I can’t keep-’
*BOOOM*
"Running forever." He cursed as he dodged another attack at the last second. ’My buff is also running out. I will be considerably slower if I don’t get out of this quickly.’
But, that was easier said than done. Rein didn’t have much to work with. He had long stretches of road, so buildings to possibly maneuver through, but that was about it. He didn’t really have a concrete way of escaping these Undead.
’Think. Think. Think.’
Looking ahead of him, Rein saw that he was approaching a massive crossroad with all kinds of cars stuck in it. People had left their vehicles behind and ran for their lives in the traffic.
Suddenly, Rein’s eyes lit up as he got an idea. Without wasting any ti, he dashed forward, getting through the rows of cars as he continued speeding down the road. The hordes swept through the cars, crashing and throwing them aside.
Nothing seed to be able to stop them. Rein, anwhile, dodged left and right, maneuvering through the maze of cars.
His speed slowed as he tried to move through the narrow paths. Then, he leaped in the air, landing on one of the cars as he started jumping from one to the other. His jumping height has increased by a huge margin after the evolution he went through.
’This is quite fun.’ He thought to himself. Then, he looked over his shoulder, and he saw many mutated animals doing the sa thing as they cut the distance short.
Rein didn’t stop for a second; he knew that this wasn’t going to be easy, even if he was able to sohow escape.
At the sa ti, his eyes moved to the vehicles beneath him. Most were still working, with the engine still activated. His eyes flared as he got an idea. Flipping his sword, he aid it down as he stabbed into the car’s hood, piercing it with ease and hitting the engine.
Almost imdiately, smoke started rising from the car before a fla ignited inside. Rein didn’t wait as he jumped to the second car and stopped at the sa spot, then the one after, and the one after.
Even though that slowed him down a lot, he didn’t care. At the sa ti, the monsters continued moving carelessly toward him.
’Co on, all I need is a small push.’ He thought to himself as he leaped ahead. ’A car’s engine is filled with fuel, oxygen, and fire... All it needs is a single touch before.
*BOOOOOOOOM*
As the horde pushed the cars into one another, the fire that ignited suddenly caught everything around it as a large explosion shook the world. Many Undead were thrown back as others caught on fire and started burning.
Then, in a quick chain of events, the second car exploded, and then the third as everything around them beca an inferno. anwhile, Rein continued running as fast as he could.
’The explosions will catch up to if I don’t hur-’
Before he could even finish that thought, he felt a strong, burning shockwave slam into his back as he was thrown ahead, slamming into the side of a car as he fell to the ground. The cars all around him were catching on fire because of that singular explosion. Looking up, he saw tal burning tal pieces flying everywhere.
’I might not have planned this too far ahead. Fuck.’ Cursing inwardly, Rein stood up and continued running as the flas rained down everywhere. He could hear the sound of the monsters screeching and crying as the fire burned them alive.
The wall of flas and smoke stopped them in their tracks and gave Rein precious seconds to escape. But, he knew that it wouldn’t last long, as not that long after, the monsters started passing through the fire and smoke as it died down. Their anger was far stronger at Rein, who almost killed them.
However, what made the situation worse was the notifications that he received instantly.
[One-Man Army has reset.]
’You have got to be kidding .’ Rein clenched his teeth as he felt his speed slow down and his senses regress visibly. The skill has finally run out, at the worst ti possible.
The reality Rein had to face at that mont was nothing short of terrifying. The sound of monsters echoed in his ears, and their heavy steps ca closer and closer.
He had to escape, or the only thing he would beco was their food. Nothing of him will remain.
