Chapter 924
In the midst of chaos, Chloe Collins managed to snatch two small bottles from the necks of two individuals. By the ti they noticed and tried to give chase, they were blocked by Alexander Foster.
Chloe held the two bottles as she ran towards the front, blending into the crowd.
She was hyperaware of her surroundings, able to detect even the slightest changes.
When a weathered hand reached out from the side, attempting to grab her arm, she’d already seized the wrist.
The person in front of her was an old woman hunched over, her snow-white hair concealed by a dark blue headscarf, dressed in a large cotton padded jacket adorned with plum blossoms, fat black cotton trousers, and a pair of old-fashioned black fabric shoes on her feet.
On the streets, anyone who saw the old woman would look no further.
Despite this, Chloe detected an anomaly.
The skin on her wrist was smooth, devoid of any spots, and her grip was intense, not at all like that of an elderly woman.
"Greetings, Dr. Hailey. The younger generation Chloe Collins is before you," she said quietly.
The old woman smiled, exposing her blackened teeth in the process.
"You look very much like your mother," she said.
Her voice was deliberately lowered, sounding husky and deep.
Then, she added, "Co with ."
Chloe held the two bottles in her hand, but remained stationary.
"If you trust , Dr. Hailey, then co with ."
Hailey responded, "Apart from myself, I trust no one!"
She glanced behind her, continuing her stride towards the front.
But Chloe still didn’t move, taking a seat at a nearby food stall and ordering a bottle of wine, savoring it leisurely.
After so steps, Hailey turned back with sharp eyes, snorting coldly.
"Mother and daughter, both of the sa nature," she remarked.
Ultimately, she returned and sat down across from Chloe.
Chloe poured her a glass of wine and, raising her own glass, said, "I toast you on our first eting, Dr. Hailey."
The old lady calmly asked, "What do you want?"
Chloe didn’t beat around the bush and stated her intentions directly, "I’m here for X-2, and for you, Dr. Hailey."
Dr. Hailey chuckled softly, "So you even know about this? Even your mother wasn’t aware."
She took a sip of her wine, and comnted, "Indeed, the student has surpassed the teacher."
"But, you won’t have use for this. I have ready-made synthesized drugs here that contain X-2. What do you want it for?"
Her eyes brightened, seemingly filled with greed, "Have you taken the BDR?"
She smiled creepily, "Yes, you must have."
She abruptly leaned closer to Chloe’s face, asking, "Which generation did you consu?"
Chloe stared into her eyes, and the words she was about to say were abruptly swallowed back.
She smiled faintly, comnting, "BDR? It seems Dr. Hailey has continuously worked on related experints. How else could you rember sothing that happened nearly twenty years ago so clearly?"
Hailey leaned back slowly, evaluating her from head to toe, "You didn’t take it?"
Chloe Collins twirled her wine glass between her fingers, her expression indifferent, "Can’t you tell whether I took it or not?"
Ambiguous words, leaving Hailey lost in silence for a mont.
Her discerning eyes narrowed slightly, scrutinizing every shift of color in Chloe’s eyes.
After what seed like forever, Hailey downed her glass of wine and asked, "So your mother hasn’t given up the experint, and she handed it to you. In that case, you can collaborate with . The Collinses are not short on money. You provide the funds, I provide the technology."
"That’s precisely why I am here. I wish to invite Dr. Hailey to my laboratory. May I have the honor?"
