Chapter 1640

Chloe Collins quietly peeked out and, while she couldn’t quite make out his expression, she could feel the shift in his aura.

It was no longer as detached as before.

She glanced at the card in her palm, thinking that it probably wouldn’t co in handy now.

She moved her lips and said, "Is it okay if I don’t take a shower?"

The man turned his face back, maintaining the solemnity from before, silently staring at her.

Three seconds later, a deep male voice said, "No, it’s not."

Although she heard a denial, Chloe smiled.

Her body suddenly bypassed her brain and made an instinctive move, opening her arms to him.

The man still frowned, but the corners of his mouth hid a faint smile.

"Chloe Collins, I am having a very serious conversation with you." He didn’t respond to her "hug ."

Chloe raised her eyes, her gaze pure, "Oh, so, no hug?"

He sighed, turned his head, and sneaked another laugh.

His face turned back, serious again.

"Next ti, will you dare to be so impulsive?"

In Chloe’s large eyes, her eyeballs whirled.

Should she lie?

The ti she spent thinking made her miss the chance to reply.

The man’s handso face, which had just softened, tightened again slowly.

He knew she hadn’t placed this matter in the "serious business" category.

The room suddenly beca very quiet.

Chloe sensed the shift in the atmosphere again, thinking that she had exhausted the value of the two cards, and the man’s temper was flaring up.

Not only had the fire returned, but it was also burning more fiercely than before.

She twirled the card in her hand, looking for a stronger fire extinguisher.

Before she could find a suitable card, the man had already turned and walked to the bathroom to shower.

Chloe leaned back, sowhat troubled.

After he ca out, she didn’t find an opportunity to continue passing him cards.

Because he was either making calls or taking calls, with no intention of paying any attention to her.

She picked up the set of clothes to shower.

She was the one at fault, so she had to smooth the man’s feathers.

She didn’t like arguing and understood that in a relationship, when one side is strong, the other must be weak; that is the way to get along.

If both sides are very strong and refuse to give in, it will only lead to a lose-lose situation.

She had seen such examples before.

The bathroom door closed.

Alexander Foster turned his head to look back and said to the person on the phone, "We can talk about it tomorrow."

As he spoke, he hung up the call.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, his eyes full of resignation.

Approaching the bed, he saw sothing hidden under her pillow.

Taking it out, he found it was seven or eight cards similar to the ones from before, featuring the sa cartoon little girl being cute, coquettish, or crying.

Each card had a different ssage, and the further down he looked, the deeper his smile beca.

The last one read: "Smile for ."

He frowned slightly but smiled nonetheless.

Then he picked up his phone and recorded each one into his album.

After her shower, Chloe stepped out and subconsciously glanced at the cards hidden under her pillow, which seed to be in the sa place as before, so the man probably hadn’t noticed them.

She looked over to see him sitting in front of the computer reviewing docunts.

She flipped back the covers and lay down on the bed, and after lying down, she opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, contemplating her next move.

She sorted through the cards from earlier and felt like each one was a bit off, so she decided not to use any of them and to think of another approach.

Maybe she was too tired, but as she thought about it, her eyelids started to close disobediently.

In a state between sleep and wakefulness, she felt the space beside her sink down as soone lay down next to her.

A familiar touch covered hers, gently pressing upon her lips.
