Chapter 1446

"Thirsty." She uttered a single word, as her hands fiddled with his ring.

"Alright, I’ll get you so water."

He instinctively tried to pull his hand away, only to find it suddenly gripped tightly.

Turning to see the fear in Wanda Wesley’s face, he understood.

"I’m not going anywhere, look, I’m just getting you so water."

He picked up a disposable cup nearby.

Wanda shook her head without speaking, her eyes still fixated on the ring on his hand.

Robert Foster had to operate single-handedly, thankfully his limbs were long enough that grabbing the kettle and pouring her a glass of water did not require much effort.

As he held the water to her lips, he noticed her nearly dunking her entire face into the cup. If it weren’t for the cup’s small size, her head would probably be squished inside.

Robert was amazed, he could not understand her way of drinking water, it was like...a small dog.

He wiped off the water from her mouth using his sleeve, then gently dried off the water on her clothes.

Throughout the entire process, Wanda kept her gaze fixed on the ring on his hand.

Robert pressed the nurse call button, asking them to check whether she was alright.

The nurse on duty ca over, and as Wanda was not critically ill, she only had a brief examination.

Wanda neither cooperated nor resisted, the check-up taking a little effort.

During this ti, Robert noticed the old scars hidden under her clothes. The scars that had already healed were painful to look at.

He had accidentally seen a few strange individuals looking for his brother and overheard their conversation revealing what Wanda had been up to.

He thought it was related to him. If it wasn’t because of him, Wanda would not have suddenly joined a special operation, and she certainly wouldn’t have gone missing.

If it weren’t for his incompetence, Wanda would already be on the verge of graduating from university, embarking on her next journey in life.

A flood of complex emotions ca surging over him, he tried hard to suppress them, not wanting her to see his reddened eyes, and turned around.

After quite so ti, the nurse’s voice sounded from behind him.

"She’s fine, rest well. Discharge can be processed tomorrow."

Wanda, however, jumped off the bed imdiately and began pulling Robert towards the door.

"Wait, Wandy, I need to handle so paperwork."

She continued to drag him forward, as though she hadn’t heard his words.

After much struggle, Robert finally managed to lead her out of the hospital. She remained as docile as before, delicately clasping the fingers of his hand, the one adorned with the ring. It was sowhat amusing.

He tried to take her hand in his, she did not resist.

"I’ll take you to our family’s hotel to spend the night. Tomorrow, I’ll take you back to the Capitol. Does that sound good?" He asked for her opinion.

Wanda kept looking at the ring on his hand.

Just when he thought he would not receive a reply, she slowly shook her head.

"Harmony Complex." A soft female voice sounded.

Robert was puzzled, "You want to go to the Harmony Complex? It’s late now. How about this, tomorrow I accompany you there. For now, let’s go ho and rest, okay?"

His voice unconsciously softened, becoming more tender as he spoke, and he looked down at her.

In the past, he had to practice to achieve this, but now it ca naturally.

Wanda looked at him and, after a few seconds of silence, nodded slightly.

Finally, Robert’s face broke into a warm smile, which had been absent for a long ti.

He did not notice Wanda’s montary look of confusion as they continued forward, or her glancing towards the dark park to their side.

There, a shadow flashed by.
