Chapter 1380

Often, Chloe Collins would watch Alex, alone in the piano room practicing and writing songs. On the rare occasions he saw her, he would give a brief wave, a smile, but not much more. It was unlike how he used to tease and joke around with her.

Chloe sighed over their situation, powerless to change anything.

For herself, she too had soone she had to et, although the idea of how to approach him perplexed her greatly.

Chase Carrington.

Over the past few days, Chase had been dutifully sending her ssages and greetings, never bringing up the topic of eting up.

He simply asked about her daily life, and she occasionally replied with a line or two.

The sudden appearance of Chase was too abrupt for her. She felt restless, unable to adapt imdiately.

But after spending days interacting online, she felt it was ti to et face-to-face.

They decided to et the following day.

Upon receiving the ssage, Chase sent only one sentence in reply.

["You choose the ti and place, I will be there."]

Chloe arranged the eting at Hidden Nooks and arrived on ti.

Upon reaching the doorstep, she saw two assistant-looking figures standing on either side of the door. It seed Chase had arrived early.

The doorn bowed to her simultaneously and opened the door.

The aroma of tea wafted towards her, accompanied by the gurgling sound of water being poured. She slowly walked, rounding the partition screen.

There in the private booth, a man with a softer, scholarly image sat. His aura resembled that of a fading chrysanthemum, his eyes brimming with a suppressed, regal dominance.

Upon seeing her, Chase paused briefly, then smiled. "Please, have a seat."

Chloe’s gaze did not leave his eyes, focusing instead on a small mole at the corner of his eye.

It looked like a raised dot, about the size of a dot made by a ballpoint pen.

She had a similar one when she was little, but it was scratched off during one fuzzy day.

Chase’s gaze slowly trailed down her outfit. Seeing her dressed casually, he asked, "Did you ride your motorcycle here?"

"Yeah." She acknowledged.

"Motorcycles might be convenient and cool, but they can be dangerous. It’s better if girls limit their use. By the way, your brother also likes motorcycles, he’s quite obsessed."

Chloe followed the topic. "I t him via racing."

Chase responded with a content smile in his eyes. "Indeed, it’s fate that guided you two together."

Chloe’s fingers twisted together gently as she maintained a calm deanor. "Let’s order, it’s already noon."

Chase paused, smiling kindly. "You must be hungry, go ahead and order."

He placed the nu deliberately in front of Chloe, his expression carrying an indulgence, similar yet different to Alexander Foster’s.

"Mr. Carrington, why don’t you order? Today, my treat." She suggested.

A trace of sadness flitted across Chase’s eyes, but he quickly recovered and smiled. "Alright."

He complied with her and ordered several dishes.

Looking at the food, Chloe realized, these were all her favorite dishes.

This eting wasn’t as awkward as she had imagined. In contrast, it was quite comfortable.

Chase did not inquire about her past, nor did he ntion anything about their origins. The conversation was light and pleasant.

Mostly, they talked about Charles Carrington.

Through their conversation, Chloe learned about Charles’ inherent obsession with racing, which was, in fact, an inherited trait. In his youth, Chase had a passion for dostic car modifications and had even won awards racing them.

She also learned about Chase’s way of life over the past few decades—monotonous but impressive. He’d managed a sizable family estate, single-handedly, with unwavering dedication and had given up many of his personal hobbies for it.

She ca to know that apart from father and son, there were several cousins living together in the Carrington household. Together, they ford a large and lively family, residing in a house even larger than the Fosters’.
